Hudson's Oyster Bar & Grille

Easter Weekend I had my family in from Charlotte and took them to Hudson's. I've been on the weekends, and really enjoy the great bands at no cover with my friends, but haven't really hadd the chance to sit down for dinner. The staff was extremely friendly, and we didn't have to wait as long as I thought for it being a holiday and all. I have to say, for as picky as my family is, there was definately something for everyone to choose from. We all tried a little bit of everything, and the food was above par for all. I particularly liked the Oysters Rockafeller and the huge Captain's platter. But it was nice that there were options for how much to get on the platter, especially for my grandparents who don't eat very much. My kids were happy with any kind of shrimp and loved the game room. All in all, the service was very good, and the owner brought our kids out some dessert when they were finished eating dinner. (Very unexpected) The atmosphere was very comfortable for my entire family, and I just wanted everyone to know, that these guys go the extra mile. I went to Hudsons last Monday night to give them another try. I was there a few months ago and it was good, but I always will give a restaurant 2 or 3 try's in order to get a fair balance. Pros: Great food at real good prices, Nice decor Cons: Nice experience more

Me and a few of my friends went to Hudsons for a Birthday Dinner on Friday night. Everything was going fine, the food was great the service was excellent, then the power went out. I got real nervous because I did not know what was going on. The manager came over and informed us that the power was out up and down glenwood. We still recieved drink service. Our waitress really did a good job concidering the cirumstances. She went out of her way to make the best out of a potenially bad situation. My friend had a great Birthday. My family and I went to Hudson's for dinner this weekend, and everything was great. My parents were especially happy with the staff and how accommodating they were, as my Mother is confined to a wheelchair. The doors were opened for us, and the waitress was very attentive to our needs. The manager even helped my mother to the restroom, which was also handicapped accessible and very nice. We really enjoyed our dinner, and the oysters were really good. I would reccommend this place to anyone. Pros: handicapped accessible, friendly service more

My husband and I spent New Year's Eve at Hudson's, and we had a blast. We ordered the great package that they offered, and danced the night away. Our service and food were wonderful, for as busy as they were. When a bottle of wine we ordered was out of stock, the manager offered us a higher grade bottle at the same price. We were thoroughly impressed with the gesture, and it made a difference in our experience on that special night. Recently, my daughter purchased a gift certificate from Z-spotlight as a gift for us, and we visited Hudson's again on Thursday night. We had a great deal of fifty cent oysters at the oyster bar and then a delicious veal special. We used our certificate that night with no problems. Sad to see another patron didn't have the same experience, but our ventures to Hudson's have always been accommodating and very pleasant. We will back soon! I had a craving for oysters for a few weeks. I went down to Hudson's on a recomendation from a friend. It was fantastic. The bartender behind the oyster bar was great, speedy service and great recomendations. MY date and I had a bunch of different appetizers, the owner came over and we swapped stories on how we prepare our own oysters. He then bought us some to try his way and it was fantastic. It was a fantastic gesture. He then went over the menu with us and the bartender as well. The oysters, shrimp, and crabcakes are definately the best in the area. There were plenty of Tv's as well. My friends and I have been going out to Hudson's since the place switched over and can't wait till the weekends for more! We always have the best dinners ( you gotta try the crab cakes.... they rock!) and then we always scoot over to the bar for the live music. This weekend Suicide Blonde was awesome! Hudson's always has the best bands, and we love to make a night of it. Everyone always greets us like we've been coming in for years, and this Saturday the bartender was already making me a cosmo before I even asked. Those guys are soo much fun. My buddies and I came out to Hudson's Oyster Bar for a few beers on Friday and we will back again this Friday. The oyster bar was pretty busy, but the bartender flagged us down to tell us there were a few spots open on his side of the bar. I can honestly say that I've never seen that happen in a busy bar before. We were okay with the beer special too. Can't beat 2.50 beers on a Friday. We weernt going to eat anything, but these guys were shucking oysters left and right. We finally ordered some and man were they good. My husband and I dined at Hudson's this weekend, and I was thoroughly impressed! I had already heard great things about this place from my friends at work, so we had to come and see what the hype was all about. We sat in the dining room, because both the oyster bar and main bar were full. We ordered ordered a peck of oysters to start and could not get over how fresh and Huge they were. The server informed us where they got them, and that they were always the best. She wasn't lying! I ordered crablegs with a sweet potato and fresh vegetables, and my husband ordered the Seafood Jumbalaya. Both of our dinners were exquisite. These guys definately are our new favorite spot! I was taken aback by the poor customer service at Hudson?s Oyster Bar and Grille in Glenwood. As an individual that eats out on a daily basis, the waitress and manager were unprofessional when it came to accepting the Z-spotlight discount coupons that we purchased. They insisted on charging an unannounced five dollar plate fee when we were the only other customers in the entire restaurant aside from another couple (mind you, and this is on a weekend; read on and you?ll find out why they don?t have any customers) when we presented the z spotlight coupon. A plate free is usually charged by a more upscale dining restaurant that is usually very busy. To offset the cost of any potential loss incurred if two individuals share an entree as opposed to purchasing two separate entrees, they charge a plate fee. Usually though, if appetizers were purchased (which we did), most restaurants do not place this charge. Besides the fact that there was no one in the restaurant aside from another couple and us (hence determining that the motive of the charge was nothing but opportunistic), and the fact that the receipt had been printed out without the plate fee initially, the manager and waitress insisted on us paying the plate fee. To us, the whole ordeal did not make sense as we would have ordered two entrees anyway from the start if it was such an issue. Initially, we were going to pay the charge and leave, but they added a compulsory 18 percent gratuity for the two of us, which did not make sense as we were hoping to give them a lower tip in return for the bad service. The manager too was very rude and unprofessional, although she calmed down finally and apologized when she realized that we were just trying to comment on the service. I went to Hudson's with my wife last week. We had a great time. I had the pork chops because I'm allergic to seafood. My wife who is from the beach had a Peck of oysters. She said they were the best she has had in a long time. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing. I recommend Hudsons. I will be a regular! Took my wife to dinner at Hudson's on a Tuesday night. The place was nearly bare, it was only 6:00, but the restaurant was clean and I loved the atmosphere. The dark woods and lighting make this a great place to sit and relax. The food was very good, we had a dozen steamed oysters, 1lb of crablegs and the seafood gumbo. All were very flavorful and prepared well. My only gripe was the waiter, who looked to be about 18, was not the brightest bulb. We asked a few questions, and he struggled with simple answers. We tried Hudson's on Valentine's Day for dinner. The food was OK, but nothing to write home about. The customer service was the worst ever. First we couldn't get the Valentine special we were 'sold' when we made the reservation. Then, when it came time to pay ($60 or so) we tried to use a $50 gift certificate but they wouldn't take it, saying we couldn't use it on a Holiday. We talked to the manager (owner?) on the way out who wanted to know, ""Who told us we couldn't have the special? How do I know he even works at the restaurant?"" Went to Hudson's for the ""Peck and Pint Night"" and enjoyed a peck of raw oysters (from San Antonio Bay as the schucker explained). Washed them down with a couple of pints of Stella, and left fully satisfied spending under $20 for the meal. Pros: Great oysters for a good price Cons: None really, overall good experience more

The food there was very good and the staff is very friendly. I have been there several times and am noticing that the same people are coming back so they must be doing something right ! Also they really did alot of nice things for the looks of the place. more
