Wow, I remember visiting the "Academy" as a kid quite a bit during field trips, but I was never really an "artsy" type of person. Now, I'm still not really that artsy but my wife is and my children, like most children, really like art. During my last visit there I actually looked at what was around, there were Picaso's and paintings from other famous artists.
One piece in particular was quite interesting, it was a sand piece done by Tibetan(?) Monks. Apparently they used colored sand and straws to "paint" a Mon. It was incredible, and after it was done, they washed it away. I didn't witness either the creation, or the "clean up" but they symbolism had something to do with patience during the creation and the fact that nothing was permanent during its destruction.
While I have never been to a large art museum I am sure everyone can find something they have never seen before at the Academy!
