Best

Place is a great spot to bring a group to: no cover, friendly staff, good ratio of girls to guys, quick as hell bartenders and cheap drinks. Great place to start your night, or me...

Worst

This is so hyped on hear that I can't believe some of the reviews. Just moved into the area..trying all the different local places. This is not a place to go. Very pretentious-rud...

Relax Enjoy!! 11/17/2003

This is a nice local bar that a lot of people go to about & it always has a good crowd! keep in mind they could be playing main stream then bust into some axle rose! They do have a red room on the side where you can lounge which is very nice. The bar is right by 11th street which they have a lot of clubs & other bars near by. I really do like this place for a easy night & it's easy to meet people here, the dance floor is small & the area outside is hard to breath. but over all nice Pros: Good crowd, relaxing Cons: Parking, small dance floor more

Boring at best 9/20/2003

I'd been a regular at WISH, next door to the Cow, for a while before I finally ventured in. I was disappointed. I've been conditioned by SF's great selection of clubs with luxurious decor, innovative drinks, and world-class hip-hop and house DJs. Holy Cow can't stand up to the competition. The crowd, the drinks, and even the people are completely forgettable. Worse, the music was cheesy, sanitized disco and top 40. To their credit, the bartenders were very attentive, and the place was bursting with energy. But with Paradise, Luna, WISH, and megaclub 1015 so nearby, I don't plan on coming back to the Cow. Pros: great bartenders, energetic people Cons: bad music, bad atmosphere, boring crowd more

razorsharp 9/2/2003

Killer place, people, music. I was not surprised to see them rated #1 singles scene in SF, and # 5 in the nation! If you haven't been in a while, you will soil yourself when you see the improvements! Pros: happy hour Cons: none! more

nutball 8/29/2003

I went to the Holy Cow last Sat, and it was banging! The music was loud, so you had to dance...but luckily, I was wearing my dancing shoes and met a really nice law student there. I don't think I have had so much fun being a complete nutball on the dance floor in a long time! If you are looking for FUN, this is the place. I drank a little too much, and ended up on the corner stage with my girlfriend. Anyone out there got any photos? A little embarrassing, but definatley fun. Watch out for those bartender shots, you need to remember that you are drinking those too!, or perhaps you'll be up on the stage dancing next week. Pros: Dancing, social scene, drinks Cons: parking more

Awesome! 8/21/2003

The bouncers were all unbelievably nice. The crowd was varied, and interesting. The music was bomb. The eighties rock! The best night out I have had in a long time. more

Very Tired! Will not go back. 6/19/2003

This is so hyped on hear that I can't believe some of the reviews. Just moved into the area..trying all the different local places. This is not a place to go. Very pretentious-rude "security" at the door, but one inside-decent drinks-not stiff, not particularly cheap, the bartenders ok...just OK! I was so excited reading the reviews-they are not honest! Please people! As a newcomer to the area-I rely on the reviews to be real...instead I wasted a night-a few hours over there. No scene-no one interesting-thank god I came with friends. more

A Little Slice of Heaven 5/31/2003

Wow, what to do with so many mixed reviews.... As a single & sexy city girl, Holy Cow is the place to go. You can hang out, dance, party with friends, hook up, and have a good time. Drinks are cheap and there is no cover. Usually there is a good mix of people and enough eye candy for both sexes. My friends and I like to hit up Holy Cow after visiting other bars..for some late night fun!! Check it out for yourself!! Pros: Good Mix of People, No Cover, Fast Bar Service more

Great!!!! 5/10/2003

The staff at the Holy Cow is awesome! Everyone who works there is so friendly and so nice. The crowd is awesome too. Definitely a very fun spot to go to. more

Best part of my trip! 4/15/2003

Took the advice from a friend living in San Francisco and visited the Holy Cow last Friday night, what a blast! About 6 of us from Texas hit the club around 11 and it was on. Nice people, cheap drinks delivered before I finished my order and enough funky rooms to keep the adventure interesting. Some of us even met some beautiful locals and discovered that the natives are friendly. Thanks SF for a great time, we'll be back with reinforcements!! Pros: people, prices, party Cons: weather more

Sexy! 4/13/2003

Sexy! That's the word! The atmosphere, the people (much improved), the drinks, the staff, the music... Had a blast there. Great place to hang out, meet people and leave with a big smile! Oh, and cherry on top of it, no cover charge! Pros: crowd, no cover, drinks Cons: music changes too muc more

Its Ok, I Would Go Back 4/11/2003

First, please IGNORE all those posts made by management. That just makes my opinion of this place worse. Anyway, I went last night for the first time. No cover, that's cool! The drinks were strong and the music was hopping. It was a pretty decent crowd, a mix of Mission, Marina and the B&T. I'm going back, but I'm not running back. Plus, it's right next to Wish, so its not all bad. Pros: No Cover, Drinks Cons: Parking more

Thursdays are good too! 4/10/2003

The place is famous for its packed nights on Fridays and Saturdays, but Thursdays are good too! Very laid back atmosphere, real quality crowd (Very good looking people, and they are enjoying their time!) Hip-hop/House DJ special for this night. Not very packed but very relaxing, always with this sexy feeling that only the Holy Cow provides.. The team is as usual awesome, friendly and the bar tender suggestions on drinks are right on! Only cons: How do I get up on Friday morning? Pros: Crowd, Music, Atmosphere Cons: Waking up nxt day more

Wow! 3/20/2003

I am impressed! This bar has changed so much, I can't believe it's the same place! I was there with my girlfriend and we both left with a big smile. The big guy at the door (seems to be the head-security guy) is so courteous that I think something is up. Then, we get inside and all the bartenders are atractive and with a great attitude. Their smiles reflect right back on the crowd they are serving. My girlfriend felt very comfortable - and that to me is everything. I heard they haev different DJ's, but that night they had this guy from Hawaii who was playing a mix of house and lounge - not just the constant boom-boom you hear at other places. Anyway, I was sad when they started closing at around 2 AM - it was hard to find a club to top it off. Pros: Friendly crew, Great drinks, Very clean Cons: closes at 2 more

  • In Short
Three sprawling rooms boast distinctive environments. In the main room, oversized vintage advertisements surround booths, a dance floor and massive bar that takes center stage. A side space offers a ski lodge-like chill area, complete with billiards and art-deco wall shapes that turn sci-fi under a blanket of back light; it's bridged by a mini-bar to a somewhat hidden lounge boasting grand banquettes, art-filled walls and life-sized diorama containing a knockoff of Michelangelo's "David."
