Ate lunch here on advice of a friend. We shared the prime rib french dip. Service was good, food was delicious. No issues for us, wonder why the ratings are not higher? more

I look forward to returning 3/15/2011

The service was impeccable. Never were we without water and as plates were finished they were cleared. I relished the dark ambiance, the live piano/bass duo and the seating arrangements that seemed to take advantage of the space well. Black leather and dark wood tones adorn the ultra-sleek modern interior. They have a full bar, but it does not protrude into the dining room. As we were leaving several employees bid us a good evening, even servers not assigned to our table. This is truly the hallmark of a well run service based business; nobody is self involved or will say "you are not my table" - every guest is still a guest and should be cherished. Houston's in Cherry Creek seem to get this. I look forward to returning and enjoying another meal at Houston's. more

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Houston's from the Lemon Drop Martini to the de-caff coffee. The house salad to start was a unique mix of greens, walnuts, corn and beets. Tossed lightly and not too large a portion. My next course was spicy Tuna Rolls off the sushi part of the menu. The rolls were well crafted, fresh and went down smooth with the proper delivery of wasabi and soy sauce. On to the main course. I had the pork chop special with mashed potatoes, and wilted spinach. The chops were cooked to perfection, not dry at all but seared just right on both sides. The mashed potatoes were mixed with onion and parsley which was a refreshing change from the usual sour cream or garlic. The wilted spinach rounded out the presentation nicely as did the small sprigs of fresh parsley. more

We also live in the neighborhood and don't know what people are talking about. The place is always packed, the service has been outstanding and the food delicious--at least the several times we have been been there. It is a little pricey--but what isn't in cherry creek? The only problem we have had is trying to get a table without too long a wait. more

I definitely recommend 3/1/2011

A group of 6 of us tried Houston's last night. We were met immediately at the door by a pleasant hostess and shown our table. Our waitress was fantastic from drinks through dessert. I had the ribs (which fell off the bone and were delicious), the best coleslaw I've ever had, and delicious spinach. Others had steak, fried chicken and salmon. I almost forgot to mention the really, really good crab cakes. I lived on the east coast and good crab cakes are hard to find in Denver. These were great. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. We all said we woud go back again. I was surprised to see sushi on the menu as well. I definitely recommend this restaurant! more

I would definitely eat here again!! 2/18/2011

We went to dinner here about a week ago when my father-in-law was in town. Their special was fresh Ono, from HAWAII (just in case you don't know, Ono is the tastiest fish EVER, and it's rarely found outside the islands...but Denver must have some secret hook-up, becuase we've also found it @ Whole Foods Tamarac twice...anyway). I didn't have the Ono, but daddy-in-law got some and said it was outstanding (trust me, he would know having lived in Hawaii for quite some time now). I got the grilled chicken salad an it is soooo unbelievably delicious (and I'm NOT a salad fan by anyones definition). My hubby got some chicken that was equally as delicious (he called it the flying chicken...but I'm not sure if that's what it's really called) and needless to say I snagged some off his plate :) For dessert we split a piece of key-lime pie (ok...he had one bite and I ate the rest...). It was heavenly! The filling was creamy and custardy without being too thick, and the crust was perfect, nice and crumbly as if they made it to order. I would definitely eat here again!!! and again! more

This is an excellent restaurant. I don't understand the criticisms I read on Yelp at all. The food is terrific, the staff well trained and the atmosphere delightful. Perhaps my favorite restaurant in Denver. more

definitely recommend 2/11/2011

Classy. I recently visited here on a Tuesday evening. They had a full live band playing, beautiful lighting, and gracious hosts. We were also quite surprised by their menu specials... this place is probably the best dinner I've had in Denver. No joke. Their wine selection is superb. The location is hip, and the parking was easy. I would definitely recommend their Grilled Chicken Salad. It's probably the best Salad in the world. Do you really want to impress a date? enjoy this place 2/8/2011

his place is sooooo delicious! I always get the French Dip- which is made with Prime Rib. Heaven in your mouth. They have bread service for a dollar (it's not on the menu and they won't offer it up to you) and the dipping sauce is killer. There is parking (plus), great live music (major plus!) and a lively scene. They are definitely encouraged to turn tables as fast a possible... don't be rushed- enjoy this place! more
