I recently went engagement ring shopping at Helzberg Diamonds. I was helped by Sue. Sue is very knowledgable about rings and diamonds, but was very pushy as a salesperson. When my fiancee and I entered the store and asked about engagement rings, Sue first spent a lot of time explaining how the store is part of Berkshire Hathaway and thus ""owned"" by Warren Buffett. After looking at the rings, I went back to look at some diamonds. However, Sue did not listen to the types of stone I was interested in. Further, neither the ring nor diamond were quoted at their actual price. Instead there was a list price and then several different ""discounts"" applied to get to a price. The prices were good, but the combination of hard sales tactics and failure to listen to what kind of diamond I wanted made me purchase my fiancee's ring at a competitor.
