Out-of-this-world!!! 6/6/2008

If you want to make a soujorn in Germany you simply have to visit Schubert's Bakery. I have tried about 10 different cakes and a variety of pastries and they are simply out-of-this-world! Pros: elegant atmosphere, high quality, a taste of Germany Cons: parking can be difficult more

Would not go again 6/25/2007

I have ordered about 6 cakes. I would agree they make nice cakes, but the issue is their service. I arrived at 5:50 and the girl was basically kicking people out and was just being rude and using innappropriate language. When I asked to speak with the manager, btw I later found out he was the owner. He absolutely did nothing, what can I say food might taste great but when it's presented with poor service it's just not worth it. The owners really need to clean that service issue up, they are quite busy and I've ran into being treated rudely several times which I left it go till the last indcident. I found it interesting the one of the comments came from a loyal customer of 20 years that they would not go again. more

Good Cakes and Cookies! Not Too Sweet! 11/9/2006

My favorite cake place. Very reasonable price and have varieties of cakes. Very fun to choose different kinds of cakes every time I go. Pros: Food, Price, Service Cons: Parking more

The best bakery in town!! 10/4/2006

Schubert's has the best cakes...yum! I haven't found another bakery in town that beats it's quality and taste. The fruits are always fresh. I love their mousse and any of their fruit or chocolate cakes. Pros: Good cakes, pastries Cons: Busy more

WUNDERBAR! 8/22/2006

Everything here is delicious... I love the Princess Cake, the Double Chocolate Mousse, the Currant Mousse, the sticky buns, the jam sandwich cookies dipped in chocolate with some tea... it smells amazing and looks beautiful. The owners of the bakery are extremely nice. Pros: Beautiful cakes. Cons: parking- if you want to stay for a while, you have to hunt around on the other side of Geary. more

A little disappointing... 5/30/2006

I had heard so many good things about Schuberts, but have to admit it was a bit of a let down. I got a slice of chocolate cheesecake, cappuccino mousse, and princess cake. The chocolate cheesecake didn't have very much flavor and the princess cake is good but no better than a cake you would get at a grocery store. The best one was the cappuccino mousse, but still didn't completely impress me. The service was by far the worst aspect of the experience! The girl was extremely rude and treated me like I was bothering her the entire time. The prices aren't bad, $2.95 per slice, but still not worth it. Save your money and go somewhere else!! Pros: big selection, fair prices Cons: rude service, no parking, below average cakes more

Not impressed 4/5/2006

I have heard rave reviews about Schuberts from friends, but am totally disappointed. I had cakes from there on three occasions over the past 2 years thinking maybe the cake I got was just below their usual quality. Ordered the first cake in person about 2 days ahead. They must have given me the cake that was on display in the window from 2 days ago; it was one of the driest cakes I've ever had. Next, I tried a rasberry mousse cake; the mousse was very foamy with large air bubbles and the cake was dry. I also had the raspberry mousse cake at a dinner party, and the texture of the mousse and cake were no better. The third and last time, I ordered a buttercream cake for Mother's Day. They could not find my order, and the cake they gave me was moist, but barely. Cons: not fresh, dry more

Service gets worse and worse! Will never go back! 3/13/2006

We have been loyal patrons of this bakery for more than 20 years, but not anymore. We always orders our cakes from them (birthdays, weddings, etc.). However, this weekend they neglected to notify us of their mistake. When I went to pick up my order I was greeted with absolute indifference, and barely an apology. I was told that nothing could be done for me and to just pick something out from the case. After expressing my disappointment I was rudely told that they did not have time and that other customers were waiting! This is not the first time that they have messed up our order and treated us with rudeness. I have let it go in the past, but with their success they seem to have forgotten that EVERY customer is of value. We will NEVER recommend or buy another thing from them again. Cons: Awful Service more

great bakery! 2/2/2006

i finally went to Schubert's, cause i had to shop on Clement, and i wanted to eat a something good. i have to say, they know how to make good pastries and cookies. i loved their cheese puff. they also had teeny-weeny cookies w/ jam on top...sooo good! i had them w/ milk when i got home. i will be coming here more, now that one of my fave bakeries, Boniere Bakery in Alameda, has their menu w/ the new ownership. Pros: great pasteries, service Cons: location, parking more

fantastic cakes 2/2/2006

My wife and I shopped around for a wedding reception cake, went to several of the supposedly ""top notch"" bakeries in East Bay, and were disappointed. A co-worker recommended Schuberts. When we walked in, our first thought was ""Now THIS looks like a bakery"". We got a tiramisu that was a piece of art and delicious. The catering staff at our reception spot said it was the best looking one they've seen and better taste than the one they sometimes made themselves. Have since tried Schubert's Princess, Opera, Italian Rum, and a few others. Great stuff. Staff helpful and prices really good. Parking not so bad early Sat morn (they open at 7am). more

The Best Bakery... Hands Down! 6/9/2005

Schubert's is the BEST! The cakes are so light, but full of flavor! None of their cakes are too sweet or not sweet enough... they're just PERFECT! With all the different kinds of cakes, it's hard to just take 1 home! Their designs are BEAUTIFUL and one of a kind. Their prices are reasonable and they take most major credit cards, so it's convenient. I was introduced to Schubert's by a family member and to my delight, I found out that we've been buying our cakes from them for about 10+ years now and counting! I come all the way from the East Bay to pick up a cake for a family function, so that should tell you how good they really are! Pros: Inexpensive, great taste, lovely designs Cons: parking more

Love this place!! 2/26/2005

Had a cake tasting for my wedding. All were delicious, but settled on choco mousse and amaretto custard. Subsequent visits included choco mousse cake, MM. Fantastic taste. Great service. Beautiful cakes. Vast selection readily available. Pros: Fab cakes, Good price, Helpful staff Cons: Parking more

Absolutely delicious European style cakes & gorgeous presentation! Last time we ordered huge chocolate birthday cake, and literally everybody loved it. more

princess cake central 6/19/2004

Hands down, theirs is the best princess cake (white cake with layers of whipped cream and rasberry jam encapsulated in a light green marzipan dome) I've ever had. The apple pie and airy cheese cake are also standouts. Pros: amazing baked goods, great value Cons: , only a few tables more

My Favorite SF Bakery 9/27/2002

Everything I've tried here has been excellent! I prefer cakes with whip cream frosting that are not too sweet and this place has the best selection. Pre-order to guantee they will have the cake you are looking for. more
