After years of spending $100+ on monthly trips to the salon for color and cut, I had to force myself to come up with and adhere to a ""salon budget"". I just couldn't justify the amount I was being charged for average services. Not to mention I had my fill of pretentious 22 year olds, right out of beauty school, who insisted they knew everything about my hair. I decided to try a no-frills approach to my salon visits and gave the salon my mother-in-law, grandmother-in-law and aunt-in-law have faithfully visited for years. To be completely honest, I expected to either be disappointed (because I had been brainwashed with the ""You get what you pay for"" theory for so long) or walk out with ""grandma hair"".
