This is a great place. I've been looking for a replacement for Carapan since they closed, and this might be it. I've been there twice for a massage, and my friend recently got the chocolate body wrap. She smelled just like a Jacques Torres chocolate shop - I've gotta get that! more

Great value but aesthetician double dipped! 8/24/2005

I went here for a bikini wax. While the value and the result were fine, the aesthetician double dipped which made me very uncomfortable! I gotten waxed twice before and this never happened. I'll have reservations about coming here again. Pros: value Cons: double dipping more

Great Brazilian, Nice Spa Ladies 7/31/2005

I only started going here recently, after getting brazilian-waxed all over the city. For the price, it's the best wax I've gotten. My significant other agrees. I won't say it was a transcendent spa experience, because it NEVER IS. Having said that, they're fast, clean, discreet, and thorough. My appointments start precisely on the dot. Some of them tweeze and others don't, but you can always ask for it. Yes, the front staff needs to go to etiquette school, which is a shame, because the spa ladies are always very nice. Under Construction 5/2/2005

I went for the boot camp facial and spa pedicure on a gift certificate. The facial was really nice - aesthetician was thorough and walked me through everything she was doing. However, when I went for the pedicure I was led to a small, dirty-looking room, the pedicurist left the door open to the room and there was construction going on outside (on Saturday, a peak salon day!) and people constantly walking back and forth. Not relaxing and the quality of the pedicure was not any better than you can get at a neighborhood joint for $25 tops. Not a 'spa' pedicure at all! The Name is Perfect! 3/15/2005

This past weekend I experienced the "Spoil Me Rotten" package (a gift from my boyfriend) and they did just that! It was the most enjoyable day, from the super friendly and warm, Roza (manicures and pedicures) to the very sweet, Joleen (salt scrub). Lunch was great, everything was great! My BoyFriend got me the "Perfect Gift" spa-package for my b-day! Unfortunatly, i wasn't able to make the appointment timely enough and of course i wanted it ON the day of my B-DAY. The girls there were SOOOO great that they squeezed me in!!!! The service was AMAZING!! It was my first SPA-Experince, and it was GREAT!! The staff was so nice & beyond professional! They made me feel so comfortable! The place may not look like much from the outside, but it's absolutly beautiful inside! You have to go to this one!!! HORRIBLE WAX stubbly!!! 10/14/2004

I see them advertised on Shecky's & then my g-friend says "Oh they do the best wax ever!" Upoon this recommendation I go try their wax instead of my regular place. I got the "Gourmet Sphinx" bikini wax to take off all my grown out & girly lower region hair. The waxer was nice.BUT LEFT A TON OF LITTLE HAIRS! I think their quick waxing jobs leave little room for being accurate. No inspection- tweezing etc. I am NOT SMOOTH! HORRIBLE !!! Pros: easy to book more

The Truth about Haven 7/20/2004

To cut costs, the owners purchase cheap Body Treatment Products that fall short of their intended goal. For example, with their "Salt Glow" body treatment you are placed in one of their chilly waxing rooms and rubbed with a highly abrasive salt and oil blend. Youre asked to flip over about 6 times as the therapist tries to remove the salt with a heavy, damp, and slightly warm towel that quickly loses its heat with each application, leaving you feeling isolated on a glacier in the North pole. Besides, it's obviously laborious for the therapist. The grand finale is a bland application of lotion. I can definitely do this myself and save $85 bucks. great waxing but not very welcoming 3/21/2004

I have been going to Haven for eyebrow waxes for about two years now, mainly because they are located near my office and the woman who waxes my brows does an amazing job, and is super friendly and sweet. I have to agree however, that the front desk is kind of an unwelcoming crew. They tend to have a snooty attitude and look down their noses at customers who are not obviously money-fied. If Haven ever reads these reviews, they should take a hint and try to work on phasing out the 'higher than thou' attitude of the front desk staff. Pros: great waxing! more

BEYOND RUDE 2/13/2004

Although the actual woman doing my waxing is great and the atual spa is fine, the front desk staff is ALWAYS rude. Considering all I ever want to do is pay for my services, these people barely give me the time of day...not to mention the fact that they charge you for your services if you dont give exactly 24 hour cancellation notice...even if you want to reschedule. I had a family emergency and they still charged my credit card. UGH!! No customer service can be found here. more

Here's the thing... 12/23/2003

When I walked into the place I definitely felt like this could be THE place. I was led to an extremely tiny room which looked like it hadn't quite been finished yet. But none of that really matters once you found a place where they REALLY know what they are doing. And then in the blink of an eye she took off half my eyebrows and I knew something was wrong. But that not even the kicker. The kicker is that she spilled wax in my hair. SHE SPILLED WAX IN MY HAIR. And the funny part was that even though she got most of it out with rubbing alcohol, she barely acted like she had done anything wrong. I think I was too shocked to say anything when I left. eyebrow euphoria 4/8/2003

i've been searching for a place that can actually give me the eyebrow waxing and shape (one brow has wonderful natural arch and the other is practically flat...all i ever wanted is for the flat one to look like the arched one and for both too look natural and not too thin or like mcdonald's golden arches)....alas i found Kristyna!!!! she's wonderful and a true perfectionist! she not only gave me perfect brows (after spending months growing out brow mishaps from aveda and eden), but she was very patient and great about giving me a facial consultation (and samples of recommended products) and answering all of my questions! compared to some of the prices i've paid for waxing, i think Haven is an excellent bargain!!! 1/2 Day Treatment WOO HOO!! 2/15/2003

I went with my Hubby for Valentine's Day. We got a massage, facial, manicure and pedicure. His fav. was the massage and mine was the facial. This was the first that I ever had (her name is Stalina) and she was AWESOME!!! She recommended that I have a few more facials and her product push was not pushy at all. She even sent me home with Sonya Dakar samples and said not to make an appointment until I used the samples and saw the difference. My massage was a little hard, but I was too chicken to say anything. Overall really great day. Would definitely recommend it, and would go again!!! Pushy! 11/5/2002

I was disappointed by my facial here. I was called in after waiting for 10 minutes, and then was told "We lost some time so we have to move fast." The facial started with a product push, which continued throughout the rest of the facial. Overall it was rushed and not relaxing at all. I want to be pampered with a facial, not pestered to spend more money! The facial also ended after 50 minutes, not 60. I would not return here. Pros: Fairly cheap Cons: Product push, Rushed more

The place is so messy and full of clusters (books, products, receptionists), you almost feel like walking into a fraternity house. The receptionists are not that polite and if you are late, you get that "look" on their face. Well, expect that kind of service even though you are paying $100 for a facial. I would find another spa! Haven has slipped in their service quality. Their pedicures are substandard - I could have done a better job at home. Their front desk is chaotic and not well organized - I have shown up for appointments they cancelled without informing me. I will not go back! more

I have been to haven on several occasions and their service has always been great. They know the true meaning of pampering a woman! I've had facials, massages, pedicure, manicure and the eyebrow waxing. They have all been excellent. The facial - extraction I would recommend the most. The massages are great but greatly depend on whom is providing the service. and how you explain in detail what you need. I would agree this is an excellent spa.
