Disappinted 5/17/2012

I had a hole in my ceiling that needed to be repaired. The painter/drywall repairman did a poor job initially. The paint didn't match, the drywall wasn't sanded and rough, nothing in the room had been replaced in its original position and a painting had been hung back on a loose nail. It subsequently fell on to a custom travertine sideboard, damaging both it and the painting. When he returned to ""fix"" his repair, he did a better job. However, once it dried, the paint still didn't match and it hadn't been applied evenly. There is a spot where the roller didn't fully apply the paint and there is a ""spongy""/splotchy look in the new paint. Several days after he left, I noticed he had also gotten wall paint on a new (less than one year old) leather lounge chair. It's black and the paint is tan - quite obvious. I was very disappointed in my experience. The leadership (two gentlemen, one who runs the Houston office and one guy from the corporate office, sounded like he was pretty ""high up"") who came out to perform the initial estimate were very polite, courteous and helpful. They tried to help remedy the situation by sending the painter back, but at the end of the day, his contractor simply was unable to do an adequate job. For a price that was middle of the road (he tried to make it sound like a great deal, which I never appreciate when I know better), the work was quite subpar. I will not use them again. more

Shady to me... 2/2/2012

I signed up for the 50% off with Groupon for the 2 hours special. Called to inquire about recaulking shower area and she said it would take more than 2 hrs.... Really?! My amateur husband takes 1 hr to do the work. I called to get my money back from Groupon and cancelled my appointment. more

Excellent Service 1/28/2012

I signed up for the Living Social 50% off four hour special. The Handyman Connection sent out one person who was able to fix our electrical issues and some simple carpentry issues. He did an excellent job. I enthusiastically recommend Handyman Connection and will use them again if needed in the future. more

A little disappointed.... 12/13/2011

I saw this deal on Living Social for 2 hours for a handyman. I needed a few small things around the house, put up a couple of bathroom accessories (toilet paper holder, towel holders), paint a small batch of the outside, and clauk some areas. It's stuff around the house that I could have done but was too lazy to do it. In the 2 hours, all that was completed was the bathroom accessories. I would not recommend or use again. more

OVERPRICED, INCOMPETENT, POOR SERVICE!!! 2/11/2011

INCOMPETENT AND OVERPRICED - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! This company charged me $120.00 to put up two curtain rods. I had just moved into a new house, and needed curtains put up right away for privacy (the blinds were broken). They obviously knew of my immediate need for the curtains or they would not have charged such an outrageous price - in fact, they originally quoted $160.00 (which was the price with the ""coupon""), but $120.00 was the lowest price to which they would agree. The handyman who provided the service, Greg Gaines, did not bother to measure the placement of the curtain brackets. As a result, one bracket is almost 2 inches lower than the other, and the entire curtain is crooked. I did not discover this fact until I installed a sheer curtain rod, and noticed that the brackets for the panel and sheer curtains were much farther apart on one end of the window. Be very wary of positive reviews, which were obviously authored by company employees/owners. \r more

i would look elsewhere 6/2/2010

I used Handyman Connections for jump a simple task.. caulking around my window sills that had some cracks. The guy got the job done but I was not happy that he used my hose in my walkway and cleaned his bucket with white caulk on my nice red brick walkway. I left a message for the manager to call me and at least tell me a good way to get it off and still never heard back. The white is still on the brick and haven't found a solution to cleaning it off. Very unprofessional if you ask me. Pros: work was cheap and done ok Cons: sloppy more

Multitaskers I count on 12/1/2009

I have had a new deck built, items painted, a bathroom remodeled and other work done by Handyman Connection. I will use them again and again for their honesty, responsiveness and reliability. Only drawback is electonics. They're not perfect. Pros: Fine people, valuable skills Cons: Electronics more

Disorganized 12/13/2007

I originally sought this company to install a shower faucet, and also wanted to get their estimate on a broad range of misc jobs, similar to those advertised. \r The resulting estimate was sloppy and unusable. Some items were overpriced. Others were left out (including the faucet) and the GCFI (which they said would require an electrician). Some items had no bid price, though they were included in the overall job quote. The shower faucet was not bid, reportedly because it would be too difficult to access. When told there was access through a small door on the other side of the wall, the work was bid (verbally) at $50. \r So I took the chance to order just a few items from the list, even though I could not exactly understand how much they would cost. When the contractor showed up, he had been informed he was supposed to do the full job. Moreover, this time he said the faucet job would require a plumber. If they can't do shower faucets, I would have appreciated knowing that up front.\r I sent him away. This exercise was a waste of two weeks of my time. Next time I'll call a company that can put together a decent estimate and actually do the work. Pros: Responsive Cons: Sloppy Estimates, Can't do plumbing or electrical work more
