Best

I had my 39th birthday party at Hairston's Dinner Club in Stone Mountain. I was torn between patronizing Hairston's or Echelon 3000. I am so glad that I chose Hairston's! I ha...

Worst

This is one of the few times I have gone to a club after my college days, and after this experience I can say I won’t be back here, at least not without ear plugs and a full stoma...

Great dance music!!! 9/23/2007

I went to Hairston's on Sept 15, 2007 at the urging of my girlfriend. I really didn't feel like going out that night but I am glad I did. I met the man of my dreams that I had been searching for for so long. The only thing I hated that I did not get to spend time with him on the dance floor until the club was closing. We only had 1 dance. I stayed on the dance floor as the DJ was jammmming!!! They played a mix of everything, hip hop, old school, reggae and slow jams. The DJ was off the chain and the dance floor was crowded. All in all, we had a great time and the man I met, we went on our first date Friday, Sept 21, and he was nothing but a perfect gentlemen and it was like we have known each other for years. I give this club a great rating. more

Great Place to Dine Unwind and Have a Fantastic Time 3/1/2007

I had my husband 45 birthday party here last month and I at first had a hard time getting a respons to a reservation. Then calling one day I spoke with a manager Jennifer and she was fantastic! very professional and knowledgable! She made sure I knew exactley what I needed to know and followed through on everything she said would happen and my husband had the best birthday party he's ever had and the complimentary champagne for my previous efforts of contact was icing on the cake. To be able to do dinner dancing and mingling all in one palce was fabulous and the food was great !!!! Kudos to Jennifer and the wonderful staff at Hairstons!! Pros: Atmosphere very mature great looking crowd! food, service ! Cons: valet, more

Excellent 12/18/2006

The environment is tremendous. I love the atmosphere of people. It is fun and exciting. A great place to mingle; to attend with your mate, your mother, and even your friends. The food is top notch, and not to mention the service is great. Great for gatherings and parties. You must attend. Pros: two thumbs up more

Customer service and facilities need improving 11/22/2006

I've been a regular patron for several years. Being the only club in the area that caters to the type of clientele that I like to be around, Hairston's has a monopoly on the mature adult venue. There's a decent balance of the various age groups, and the mix of men and women is often good. The music covers every decade from the 70's to 2006, and includes club as well as house music. Whether you're doing the New York Hustle, the Chicago Step, the Detroit Ballroom Step, Line dances or freestyle dances, you'll be delighted. The regulars are called uppity, but I'd rather been catergorized as uppity rather than the terms given to those with lower class, so, I guess the shoe fits, therefore I'll wear them. The managers Cecil and Todd are wonderful, the bartenders Marcus, Chris, and the others and the bathroom attendants, including the deceased Mama Rosa and Sharon have been a joy. I would however, like to see an emphasis placed on the customer service amongst a few of the waitresses, and waiters, an improvement of the dance floor, and an updated general appearance overall before it can be truly rated as an upscale establishment. You have to request water with your dinner, popular drinks (Patron, Hypnotic, Alize, etc.) are rarely stocked, there's no bread or crackers accompanying the Gumbo, and sometimes you have to request condiments and even silverware before you can enjoy the meal, which is usually great once it's complete. The drinks could be better too. The Saturday birthday party can use some tweaking, because it becomes redundant and predictable. A live jazz/R&B nite and comedy nite on other nights, especially Thursday night, would be a welcomed addition. A nightly Happy Hour, a free limited buffet and a Men's Night are some things that should be given as a way to thank us for our support. more

nice atmosphere 7/28/2006

Very nice atmosphere, dance floor wasn't that big. I had a very nice time, but really wasn't impressed the bar staff, took ten minutes to get attention of bartenders. Would not have been a problem except I was only person trying to orders drinks. Music was good, but the sound system was weak at best. Lot's of distortion between highs and lows. Speakers sounded as if they were going to burst. Maybe need to get advice from good sound tech. Probably the best mature night club I been too since moving here three years ago. Pros: Lots of well dressed adults having a good time Cons: bar staff and sound system more

Average ...Don't see what all the buzz is about!! 5/20/2006

I relocated here in Nov/05 from the West Coast. I have been here twice since my arrival, and find nothing extra ordinary about it. Both times I attended on a Saturday evening/night. I had dinner and drinks and observed the scenery. In my view it's no different from any average resturant/ bar. As I looked around the setting, there were nothing but women. I encountered a very rude if you could call him a gentleman at the door who has no concept on how to treat a paying customer, I believe he said he was a police office or security guard who works for the establishment. He is by far the rudest person I have met since my arrival to Atlanta!! If this is what mature and upscale is is in Atlanta...I'm very afraid!! The music was ok and the food was ok. The dance floor is way too small. more

It's a nice place definitely for grown folks. Ceasar Salmon Salad is a must try! I go back for it every visit. Only problem I have is that women can't dress it up with jeans! We know how to dress up jeans people! Other than that nice. Watch out girls! The men have the tendency to be booshey! You know what I mean! The bartenders in the back are the best. Wednesday is the BOMB! Ladies night! Definitely dress to impress! Overall work it! Please have an additional driver, because you'll have so much fun and forget how much you had to drink! Pros: great valet, great food, back bar great more

FIRST VISIT, WENT W/COWORKERS FOR A LADIES NIGHT OUT - WE ARRIVED EARLY, AND WERE GREETED/SEATED IMMEDIATELY AMONGST THE HANDFUL OF OTHER PATRONS. WE WAITED 20 MINUTES OR LONGER FOR DRINKS THAT WERE SO SO AT BEST, AND WAITED ANOTHER 15 MINUTES TO SHARE 3 MENUS AMONG THE 6 OF US. SEVERAL OF THE ONLINE MENU ITEMS WERE NOT AVAILABLE ON THE ACTUAL MENU. ALTHOUGH THE FOOD WAS QUITE TASTY, AGAIN THERE WAS A LONG WAIT. OUR SERVER WAS THE PITTS. THANK GOODNESS FOR THE DJ. WE DID HAVE FUN ON THE DANCE FLOOR TO MAKE THE BEST OF AN OVERALL DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. ALL OF THAT BEING SAID. I WOULD PROBABLY GIVE IT ANOTHER GO ON ANOTHER NIGHT. Pros: GOOD MUSIC, GREAT PRICES, GOOD PARKING Cons: BAD DRINKS, POOR TABLE SERVICE, DECOR more

Get what you pay for 4/29/2004

Great Date Place 12/28/2003

My husband and I went on a date. We arrived early. Nice place for a romantic dinner for two. Food and drinks were very good. Atmosphere was great (nice place to meet people). Music and DJ were great. Arrive early, dance floor gets crowded later on in the evening. Beware- bill adds up fast ( parking, admission, coat check, food, drinks and dont forget the tip $$$$). It was worth our one night out. Pros: Dressy, Over 25 crowd Cons: Parking, Crowded dance floor more

Great Ole Skool Hangout... 10/31/2002

Great food, nice atmosphere, Should be rated as a nightclub, rather than restaurant ...Somewhat geared to the over 30 crowd...dance floor is somewhat small...but a great place for getting your dance groove on in a upscale location!! Great place to meet professionals/businessmen and women! Pros: older crowd-dressy, entertaining DJ's, Good Food Cons: crowded!! Go early, small dance floor more

This club makes an art of catering to a mature, urban crowd with upscale dinner, drinks and dancing.

Editorial
  • The Scene
Crowded with flirtatious patrons, this spacious club has the energy of an elegant, modern-day juke joint. Multicolored booths line the walls and crystal candleholders strike a romantic pose atop linen-covered glass cocktail tables. The large bar is packed with men decked out in different colored suits, matching ties, shoes and brims and women in sexy pantsuits and slinky dresses with jaw-dropping slits. More cocktail tables line the pathway to the dance floor.

    The Draw

Grown folks need a place to hang out, and this is that place. Live music on Friday nights and occasional old-school steppers' sets keep the crowds rolling in. Couples mix with the mostly single crowd, and women can rest easy knowing this is not a "boys club," rather this is where grown men play. Revel in the mature party vibe, and know that when they say, "It's getting hot in here," it's probably because of the Isley Brothers not Nelly.
