Guy Smith Heating and Cooling sent Anthony out to fix our heater. He arrived quickly and got right to work figuring out the problem. I am pleased with the information provided and the helpful attitude of the man. I went ahead and had him repair it on the spot and we now have heat again. I would definitely recommend this company to all of my friends & family. more

Excellent service 9/11/2014

Our heat pump was no cooling at all and Guy Smith's John Shaffer came out to work on it. He was very courteous and personable. He looked it over and explained it needed a start capacitor before he did any work. After I gave my approval he replaced the capacitor and checked the unit for freon which it needed and again asked for my approval before doing the work. He then did a PM on the 2nd heat pump and it was also down on freon and he again (you got it) asked for approval then added the freon. He also did the Dominion Power energy audit and replaced 9 bulbs with free ones. Great Service! Great Job! I highly recommend Guy Smith. Derek Fick more

Outstanding and prompt service!! 7/9/2014

Had a 2 year old condenser unit fail in 90-100 degree weather. Gary from Guy Smith came out promptly and stayed until troubleshooting a problematic leak was complete where previous technicians from other companies had not been as thorough, choosing instead to take the easier route and just swap parts. Gary identified some major problems which in the end cost me as much as being nickel and dimed from other vendors. Gary left us saying that it could be 5-7 business days for parts but Gail called me the very next day saying parts were available. Apparently the Guy Smith Team had put in work after hours to get me parts so my a/c could be fixed within 24 hours of identifying the problem. You cannot teach this kind of customer service! It is rare these days to find such outstanding service and I, for one am happy to have chosen Guy Smith for my HVAC needs. I would highly recommend them to anyone, an being Military doubly so for the offered me a Military discount. It's companies like this that make America great! more

A Very Responsive Company 7/2/2014

Had a heating and air conditioning unit that was very old finally quit on us this past very cold winter. Guy Smith was the only company that was able to get a technician out to us in the cold. The technician was very capable and able to get us back on line and convince us that our 30 year old unit needed replacing. They had an appropriate unit and were able to install the heating unit for us with the knowledge that in the spring, we were going to need the air conditioning portion of the unit. When the spring came, in May, they were able to install the air conditioning unit and cool us down. All while we were able to maintain our budget. Today, the indoor blower unit failed and a service call was made at about 1230 in the afternoon. We had a service technician at our door by 3|30 and our unit repaired by 5|30 at no cost or hassle to us. Thank you Guy Smith for operating a good company and for your great service! more

Found myself in immediate need of repair for my a/c unit, which had backed up and was about to overflow onto my ceiling. Called at 2:30 and by 4:00 Gary arrived and removed all the standing water and cleared the clog, etc. for a very reasonable price. He was great! Thanks more

My first expereince wiht Guy Smith, was AWESOME by the way..... 5/15/2014

I have never had to use an AC company until now....I called, explained my circumstance. Where as with the current heat wave it is undertandable that I would have to wait a day or so for service HOWEVER they made accommodations and came out within hours, diagnosed the problem based off of what I told them almost before they even opened the unit new what was wrong. They had the part on the truck, installed it and within 10 minutes I had AC again! They offered me the used part to keep, which to me showed excellent character as in his words "it belonged to me" (how often do they replace items you never see or confirm were bad in the first place)The technician was very courteous and pleasant and informative. He had taken my call on the way home to his own home at 8:57pm, he did'nt have to go above and beyond but he did. As it was too late to check on a warranty he explained that I should call the next day and inquire, if there was one Guy Smoth would reimburse me the difference. I called and I'm getting $99.00 back off of the $297 I paid! So you understand I called Sears first as they installed my system, it would be 3 days till they could come out. I then Called "ONE HOUR CARES"... I'm sorry to the person who wrote that they were sooo good as they told me it would be 2 weeks, 2 WEEKS before they could come out... that "they catered to their preferred customers first", their words not mine... my guess is they don't CARE enough unless it has a $$ in front of it.. I will definitly be getting an annual maintenace contract with Guy Smith @ $149.00....... Thank you Anthony for thinking of anothers need over your own! thank you Guy Smith for being there and being so accomodating when I needed you! I cannot speak to other comments be they negative or positive but I can say always get more than one quote, weigh the differences and chose whats best for you. Don't blame the company when things cost more than you expect, you have to do your homework.. more

I wish I had read reviews about them before. They sold me thousands of dollars in parts that it turned out, I never needed. The worst company that I ever used. - "One Hour Heating" or "Smith and Keene" both seem to be pretty good. more

I have had this company out to work on my equipment many times over the years and have always been treated fairly. Their employees always take the time to answer all of my questions courteously and patiently. I recommend them to all of my friends. They always call before they come and after the work is finished to make sure I am happy. They are very competitive with pricing and perform all the required maintenance for my equipment. Early on it seemed we got lucky with the right Techs, but as a few years progressed we began seeing numerous problems and errors with what we thought were corrected problems, and really were just basically lazy craftmanship. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for and they are not holding up high enough standards to get what they are asking for. On top of that, since we had numerous properties, I would receive no less than 5-10 phone calls a month trying to sell me additonal maint. agreements. With shady tactics, "we have an opening to schedule your maint this week"....I said which property they say XXXX Rd. Well we don't have a maint. agreement there mam? the response "well we are running a special now...." so if i had not asked and assumed they meant one of my maint. agreed props, they would have gone out and hit me with a bill for it. This happened numerous times, until I finally had enough and said remove me from your call list I am transferring all of our properties to another local company. more

Sad IT's Just Sad 2/28/2012

I've used Guy Smith since about 1969. In all the years we have had nothing but honest workmenship. Sure we had to pay a service call once for the service person to come over after hours and turn on out Gas furnace. IT was our fault we turned off the emergency switch by mistake. For those that cry rip off when you had to pay a service fee for their opinion I say SHAME on you. I would bet if your bosses told you to drive to Hampton at 12 am and turn on his heater switch you would say .. and how much are you paying am I on the clock and do I get paid for my cars gas and wear and tear? IF you say you would do it for free then you are really a sad stupid person. I really hate to see companies get bad reviews just because the person writing the review is stupid or an ex employee as is most the time. I own a business and you cant make every one happy. Fact is seem the only people that review any thing is always mostly sad want a free hand out stupid people. The happy people are not doing reviews because they are happy and have time left each day to smile and enjoy life in stead of lookig for negitive things every where they go and with every one they meet. more

Too high 8/18/2011

We asked for an estimate on a replacement system for our HVAC which had a burned out compressor. The technician came out and gave us the highest bid out of the seven contractors which I called for estimates. I was at work when he came out and dealt with my wife. He wrote up the estimate and then he said he would try to find out what was wrong with our system (my wife told him it was the compressor) and to add insult to injury, he charged us for a service visit. I assume they stay in business by preying on those who are naive and the elderly. more
