Good Service 7/8/2011

I am not even from La Mesa, but I am from Chicago. I am currently on tour in Germany and am a Guitar Center Platinum member. I had emailed this store because I saw a keyboard that I was interested in. They did write me back, took 24 hours, but no problem. In the email, the Pro Audio manager told me that he would hold this keyboard for me. When I wrote back to tell him to go ahead and hold it, he then took some time to write back and told me it sold. I was initially quite upset, but he then told me that they would price match with another keyboard. more

Guitar Center in La Mesa should be your first stop for a Guitar. 9/25/2009

I came here reluctantly after shopping at other guitar stores with a small selection. I say reluctantly because I heard horror stories about shopping at big stores such as walmart or guitar center. However this particular guitar center is great. An older salesman named Marshall helped me out. I asked him what the best sounding acoustic nylon guitar was under $600 and he pulled out 3 different guitars which I already played and found to be of the best quality in this price range. He then played a classic Beatles song on each guitar until we narrowed it down to a Cordoba GK Studio. The sound quality is amazing and I was surprised that it even has a cutaway, built in tuner, and plug in to play as an electric. Thanks Guitar Center and I will always come back here first in the future just to set the standard high before browsing other stores. more

Do Your Research First 6/29/2009

My only dealings with this GC is in the acoustic guitar area and although their sale staff are helpful, they are not all that knowledgable in my opinion. I have overheard conversations between sales people and customers and much of the info being put out by the sales person was total BS. Go in there only after thoroughly researching your guitar on the web or only with someone you know who can steer you right. Otherwise you will probably be walking out of there with the wrong guitar for you but leaving a nice fat commission for the sales person. more

Not just guitars! 9/15/2005

I go to guitar center to buy strings for my husband's violin. They always have a good selection of strings, and the ones he likes are always in stock. It is fun to try out the electric pianos. My husband had been searching for a specific piece of software so he could record music, and the staff was very helpful in locating it for him. The store is a bit cramped and you have to be careful sometimes not to knock things over, but that is not too much of a problem if you are careful. more

Huge Selection 6/29/2005

Guitar Center is one of the best guitar stores in San Diego when it comes to selection. Their prices are lower than Mom and Pop guitar stores, but they're less willing to cut prices than other stores. This place is like a physical store for the Musician's Friend catalogue, everything you can find in that catalogue, you can find here. more

Guitar Center 6/21/2005

I've only been to this guitar center once or twice to buy strings and to play around on their guitars. This location is smaller than most of the other stores I've been to. They do have good prices and a lot of variety in the items they sell, but I can't stand all the people who "jam" on the electric guitars, especially when there are multiple people playing different guitars at the same time. It's annoying. But I've always been assisted by people who seem very knowledgeable about guitars. Overall this isn't the best guitar center, but it'll do for a quick fix. more
