positive experience 12/30/2010

I am a bonafide travel agent at goldrush and I am proud to say it. I have learned so much from them in the training programs both on-line and in person. I have acc status which means I am a accredited cruise counselor. I know so called travel agents who don't even have this. I have gone on lots of trips and our agency is some of the top sellers for many cruise lines. The free cruise is given from a 3rd party and they are the ones giving a hard time booking this......not Goldrush. Anyone who calls us a card mill hasn't really looked into the program and tried it. They think that because we have a lot of members that it is a card scam. We do have member who bought into our company thinking ""poof"" they are travel agents but that isn't true. In order to be sucessful you use the tools and the training given you. If you do nothing then of course you will think it is a scam. Most all of our agents also have clia cards with cruiseline international. Once again regualar travel agents don't have these. I am tired our our company getting a bad rap from people who don't know. You can't get something for nothing.\r Perhaps the sales force is a little pushy but you get that\r at a lot of places. You need to say no just like you do other sales people if you are truly not interested.Otherwise do not put the company down unless you have tried it. more

Worst RIp Off Goldrush Getaway! 10/12/2010

High pressure sales pitch. Much longer than promised. Free gift cruise costs the same if you book it yourself since you pay all the taxes, fees for this and that. The 'free cruise' costs $360. Hah! $6,990 to join. Become a 'travel agent.' Yeah right. Call a reputable travel agency and see what their response is. Scam, rip off, MLM, card mill, are just a few of the responses. There are many different travel agency scams and this is one of them. Their positive reviews sound so canned. My advise is stay away. Getaway from this Goldrush. more

Goldrush Getawats Scam, Rip Off, Travel Agency MLM,Card Mill 10/12/2010

We attended a presentation for GG a couple weeks ago. We paid $5000 and $150 yr for ever for the privilege of supposedly getting travel agent status when booking travel. They promise you $159 a wk for timeshares, $1,899 a wk for 2 to Tahiti, etc. We were sucked in to the promises. Then we did the due diligence needed for spending so much. Type Goldrush Getaways into the Google search bar and add a space and wait for Google to suggest the most common answers. They are GG scam, GG rip off, GG Ontaio, CA, GG complaints, GG travel agency scam, etc. Reputable travel agents would laugh at you if you said you were a 'travel agent.' It's a card mill. You might get travel discounts like you would if you search yourself but its not going to turn you into a bona fide TA. Friends, and relatives will scorn you when you present them this commission rebate method of travel. Stay away. Their positive 5 star ratings are from Goldrush themselves. One review site had one review day after day as if 13 people would just happen to post 5 star ratings in a row to counter the 1 star initial one from a real person. All their reviews sound so canned. Top Travel Agency? Really? :) Pluhlease. more

TOP TRAVEL AGENCY 3/7/2010

\r \r My wife and I joined Goldrush Getaways ten years ago and have never regretted a minute. The benefits have been overwhelmingly greater than any expenses incurred and far exceeded any expectations we had. Prior to our association with Goldrush Getaways, we travelled extensively throughout the world. This association has allowed us to continue our travels at a more economical rate and has allowed us to set up travel arrangements for others while making a profit at the same time. As with most ventures, you get out what you are willing to put into it. \r \r The staff have always been very professional, extremely helpful as well as friendly. We have taken all the training courses they have offered and found the training to be very useful when making travel arrangements for ourselves or for others. \r \r We would highly recommend Goldrush Getaways to anyone that has an interest in travel. Pros: Experienced, friendly, helpful more

Great Travel Experiences 2/16/2010

My husband and I joined in August 2003. We took advantage of all the in-house training and were very impressed. We love to travel and it offered us the chance to not only get discounts on our own travel, but to receive commissions on other booking we make and also our own travel. We attend the workshops occasionally and have gotten great ideas from the vendors who put them on. Goldrush Getaways is there to help you become an agent. They have given me the support and help when needed.\r We love to travel, especially cruising, and being a part of Goldrush Getaways has been a very satisifying experience. We have received commissions in excess of our original cost and have also taken advantage of cruiseline discounts offered to agents.\r I would recommend this company to anyone that really loves to travel and is committed to getting the training necessary to benefit from being a part of this business. Pros: Travel with benefits, Helpful staff, Training opportunities Cons: Sales presentation more

Wonderful Travel Experiences 2/11/2010

My Husband & I joined Goldrush Getaways in August 2007. We've never regretted this decision. We were going on the cruises anyway; why not find a way to lower the price and receive money back? There is not enough room here to tell you all the great opportunities we've had, with the tools we've received from the Agency. The training is wonderful - lots of opportunities to meet with travel vendors; the staff is very personable. If you are considering joining this organization, I can offer my endorsement. Of course, as with all things, you get out of it what you put into it. They don't do it for you; but it's pretty easy, nonetheless. Pros: Travel with Money Back Cons: So Many Places; So Little Time more

Best for travel, cruise & vacation packages 2/6/2010

I have been a member of Goldrush Getaways for more than 10 years now. Goldrush Getaways opened my eyes to the fun of cruising and it provided assistance to me so that I can experience the best accommodations in my travels and vacations. All my cruise, travel and vacation bookings through Goldrush Getaways have been pleasant, hassle-free, and fun-filled. My clients also have all been very happy with their own travel and vacation bookings through Goldrush Getaways. As their travel agent, it gives me a lot of pleasure to hear from them that they enjoyed their travel and vacation experience. My personal relationship with Goldrush Getaways management and staff is special to me because they treat me as part of the family. I make it a point to attend their office functions and I was very much touched this last Christmas when they invited my husband and me in their Christmas party. It was indeed a memorable day for us. great decision for us 2/1/2010

We joined Goldrush Getaways ten years ago. At first we did not use it and wondered if we wasted our money. Then we started doing one cruise a year for ourselves, then booked travel for family and friends. Now that we are retired, we cruise 4-5 times a year, have taken several groups on cruises, and have done FAM (familiarization) trips as Travel Agents. Went to China for 7 days for $799 including air, hotels, sightseeing. We have averaged $5,000 + in commissions during years that we have taken groups. And we didn't have to ""pound the pavement"" to find travelers; they were friends and friends of friends. Once I accidentally used the wrong name for an air ticket and Goldrush people were able to get it changed for me without a penalty fee. We attend the workshops occasionally and have gotten great ideas from the vendors who put them on. Goldrush is not intended to be an investment or a business opportunity. Nor is it a travel agency for the general public. It is to help you become an agent. They give support and help when needed. It is NOTHING like YTB. That is a pyramid scheme. I have friends who went with YTB and were excited to get $6 commission, plus pay $50 a month for their website. We get large commissions and they are paid in a timely manner. I have recommended Goldrush to friends who did join and were glad of it. The only complaint I have heard is that they are upset they don't have more time to travel. That is not Goldrush's fault. I would join again in a minute, knowing what I do about the company. Pros: good customer service, great travel opportunities more

Great Concept !!!!! 9/27/2009

In 2006 , I came to the Ontario office for a presention to receive some free luggage and gifts. The presentation was very interesting, my fiance and I were not going to buy anything no matter what. After rewiewing everything we loved the concept, Its just like many companies , like costco, invest in a membership and then you can buy things at great prices. My first experience with this membership was to help my daughter going to New York. WoW I saved her over $1000. That was just the begining of my business... Someone commented that they are high pressure, I found them to be nice and helpful... someone commented that the luggage was not high quality, PLEASE THESE ARE FREE , the value is in the membership not the luggage !!! Pros: Knowledge is power... savings are Great.. Cons: No real cons, being a travel agent has Benifits.... more

Goldrush Travel - Watch out!!!! 9/19/2008

Very high pressure sales techniques. Don't be stupid and fall for their ""free"" gifts"". You will pay taxes on an over inflated price if you do take the gift and there are major limitations on whatever travel you do want. How will you know if they actually pay the taxes to the State or Federal government? They require a $10 for the pleasure of sitting through a 90 min. presentation and then hound you on the phone if you don't sign up. Give them a phony phone number and address if you ever are dumb enough to want to go and hear their presentaion. Membership fees are a staggering $4500 +. It would take you a lot of travel before you made up that kind of money. There are always extra fees associated with traveling with this company. What would happen to your membership if they went Chapter 11 or reorganized? Think about it!! Pros: Fun to talk about Cons: Stop calling ME more

Biggest Scam, Horrible Customer Service, Watch out!!! 6/11/2008

I just want to let it be known , do not be fooled by this travel agency. They only want your money once they get it your just a sale. They laugh about the free gift offers they promote to get you in there that really are not free and then they are in your face and pushy with their sales tactics. They make so much money off of unsuspecting people they can afford to pay the girl in the back $20 an hour plus commission on all sales to open up envelopes with clea cards in then while she talks on the phone to friends all day and surfs the internet. I used to work there and it was for a very short time until I found out what they were all about, it would disgusts me to hear their jokes about people who were dying of terminal cancer and would ask for there money back and they would not comply, instead just make nasty jokes about it.please dont waste your time or money more

Questionable sales tactics and worthless incentives to attend presentation 5/16/2008

After receiving the notice for a free round trip plane ticket for two to anywhere in the U.S and a free set of luggage to attend their presentation, my wife and I attended their presentation in Citrus Heights. The presentation was mainly the presenter flashing different vacation packages on a screen and showing how much you could save but with few details. We were told we could receive these discounts if we joined their company as ""travel agents"" for a small fee of around $6000.00. I was a bit shocked by this price but even more shocked by their high pressure tactics of ""this offer is for today only"" and ""what if we remove some of the benefits and then you only pay $4000.00"". I'm sorry but I don't drop $6000.00 or $4000.00 without a little research so I passed on the deal. \r \r The luggage set turned out to be a very, very cheap set of thin fabric bags with no support structure. They would offer almost no protection to whatever was put in them and I certainly would not trust them to survive airline baggage handlers.\r \r The two free airline tickets turned out to be anything but free. First there was more than a page of fine print of the terms and conditions to read through. Then you have to send in a $100.00 money order via certified mail just to start the process and are told you have to pick 3 dates at least 30 days apart. Once you send in the money order then they tell you that you must also pick three destinations and now it's going to cost AT LEAST $90 to $189 per person which in my mind I translate to at least $189 per person. This does not include taxes and ticketing fees which can quickly add up. I'm thinking ""so much for the free tickets"" so I decided to cut my losses before it's too late and have applied for a full refund within the 30 days as stated in the terms and conditions. We'll see how that goes. \r \r Anyway, judging by my experience with the luggage and the ""free"" airline tickets, I'm very happy I did not join their company. more

Why do they have to stoop to such advertising? 3/11/2008

We got a postcard from some outfit using a West Palm Beach postage permit. Apparently they have ""BEEN GOING CRAZY TRYING TO CONTACT"" me. Interesting as I have email and my phone is always attended. Anyway it seems I've been ""verified"" (?) and they are excited for me! According to the postcard ""You will receive at your request Two Roundtrip Airfares to Anywhere in the Continental U.S.!""\r \r Well duh, they sell travel tickets. At my request I can receive ""Two Roundtrip Airfares to Anywhere in the Continental U.S"" from any airline online, or from any travel agency. While the word complimentary does appear in red all capital letters, it doens't say what is complimentary.\r \r The card also reads ""We have identified you and you are now ON RECORD. We are happy to contact you directly at your residence to inform you that you have been confirmed to receive this notice for a Vacation Package."" I?ve been confirmed to receive their junk mail - lucky me ;->\r \r It goes on from there, the whole tone of the piece looks like I've won something, but a careful reading just is a bunch of double talk BS trying to get me to call 1-888-561-0725, I think I?ll pass.\r \r I'm really tired of getting this type of junk mail.\r \r I wonder why a reputable company would stoop to such a deceptive tactic to contact potential customers, I guess I know the real answer is that they wouldn?t more

Fantastic presentations!!! 2/2/2008

i've learned a lot from this company.... very informative discussions, very generous for answering all of my questions... the agents were great and accomodating... and the good thing about this, i got my vacations from them... and I'm willing to do business with these people.... \r no doubt, i would recommend this agency my love one's!!!\r \r THANKS GUYS FOT THE WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME!!! more

Best Travel Agency EVER!!! 1/2/2008

Well I must say that I love Gold Rush Getaways. I have used the company several times. I go on these cruises they have, everytime I have gone they have hosted a cocktail party, and one time they even sent a represenitive from their company. They were always there to answer my questions, not that I had many, they were pretty detail oriented. The only concern I had was how many forms I had to fill out. Now I know why they do that. I did not buy insurance on my last cruise and I could not go. I did not get my money back, which was my own fault. But the agency made sure I got credit on the same cruise line for a future cruise which I will definatley book with Gold Rush!!! Pros: great experience Cons: need more land specials more

Why neglect the customer?? 3/12/2007

This was my second time using this agency. The first time was an ok experience. The agent did not communicate as well as I would have thought. The group I traveled with on this first trip all had complaints. Paperwork, special requests, simple information and numerous phone calls were ignored. You ask why the second time then? Well, personally we didn't have many issues the first trip so I thought if I was the planner for a personal family vacation, maybe I can handle all the confusion with people's wants and needs. Besides we got a great deal through our employer. What could go wrong?? Trying to arrange a trip for 30 people is a little hectic. Trying to get a hold of your ""agent"" is a nightmare when they don't return emails or calls in a timely manner. This company passed the buck at every chance they got. We just all prayed that the trip would go smooth. No,this isnt a life or death situation but it's all about trust. My group looked up to me for unanswered questions. I was so embarrased. I tried to do what I could which at times was just wait for no answers. Several months after the trip we were trying to finalize a few issues. The manager passed the info to an assistant then another assistant, finally 3 months after the trip they sent us our money to shut us up. No phone call, no email...nothing. Needless to say, I would NEVER recommend this particular company to anyone. My experience was horrible. The neglect factor was simply disrespectful. Never ever again. Pros: We didn't have to see the agent at all Cons: Horrible Customer Service more
