Gold Medal Service - Air Conditioning, Heating, & Plumbing

Beware, this company is a total scam and a complete rip off. I had Gold Medal Service inspect my central air. The technician informed me the system had zero Freon and recommended me to replace the entire central air and since me furnace had some minor rust that I should also replace the furnace. The technician showed me the gauges that displayed zero. The issue is the central air compression was not running in order to provide a real reading on the gauges. The technician used this technique of not running the unit so I would believe the unit had a leak and was not worth repairing and pay over $5k for a new unit. \r A few days after Gold Medal Service provided their recommendation I contact another AC company that informed me I only needed 2.5 pounds of Freon and my AC unit was in perfect working order.\r DO NOT USE Gold Medal Service they only want to replace your unit with a new one that will cost you thousands of dollars when your unit does not need to be replaced.\r more

They charge a $49 fee to come out and do the diagnostic. In my situation, they quoted a price of $1,270 to install a kitchen faucet and shut off valve. That is way too much money for such a small and relatively simple job . Just ridiculous! A few days ago, Roto-Rooter provided a quote of $400 for this same job. I thought the Roto Rooter quote was high so I went to Gold Medal Plumbing for a 2nd opinion. Boy was I wrong. The quote from Gold Medal Plumbing was 3x higher. The repair man tried to tell me he has more training than his competitors. So crazy!! When I told him I was not hiring him for the job, I was told I still had to pay the $49 diagnostic fee. I called their offices to complain and try to get my money back and was never able to get in touch with manager. He was always busy. I left a call back number but he never returned my calls. So unprofessional. This is a very shady company so be very careful. more

didn't have heat or hot water , call gold medal as my prior experience with them was exceptional (they had installed a hot water heater. this time techniciam Juan arrived exactly on time (my appt was for 8:30A). when i greeted him at the door he immediately put on the plastic shoe covers , which never happens with any other repairman that i have called usually i have to tell them. \r Juan recognized the problem, provided me with a detail price quote and began to work on it quickly . \r Additonally there were two other parts that were not functioning properly becuase of the initial issue . He explained in detail each problem with detail on why and how each part failed. Juan quickly resolve those problems. \r Juan worked quickly , and the workmanship was exceptional. He was a Professional throughout the whole process. Lastly he cleaned -up everything before leaving. \r This is the only the second time i have used Gold Medal and the serrvice was exceptional on each occasion. I will not hesitate to call them first for all my plumbing and heating repairs more

Dave Herrick was great with my plumbing issue I had with my kitchen sink. He was able to tell me right away what was wrong and fixed it one two three. He explained everything to me. To top it off he loves cats just like me! I recommend him 100%! more

On March 31, 2011 we had the misfortune of having our hot water heater leak. We called Gold Medal Plumbing Service and they sent out Steve Kraut as our technician. He was very courteous and answered all our questions. He made sure we understood all that he was telling us and what services he would be providing. He was very professional, definitely knew what he was doing and displayed excellent customer service skills and plumbing skills. We were very impressed with his service. He cleaned up the work area very well! He definitely went the "extra mile" to provide us with the best possible plumbing service. We will definitely recommend him to our friends, neighbors and relatives. Your telephone service representative was also very courteous and professional. She answered all my questions and was extremely helpful! Thank her for us too! more
