Best

Gnocchi has great food. I've always enjoyed going there with a friend, and now I can get it delivered.

Worst

I went to Gnocchi a week ago with a group of 9 people on a Saturday night. We were happy to get a reservation for such a large group on such short notice, and as I had enjoyed th...

Great Flavor Flare 11/2/2005

I arrived with a social gathering of 2. I forgot the wine at the house, but was promptly seated. I now believe this was mostly due to the fact that we arrived 10 minutes before ultimate finishing time, woops. Our maitre d' was quite pleasant & our food was prepared with cat-like reflexes. I ordered DOUBLE chicken in the company of my pasta. Great flavor flare! I would suggest it to a friend or even someone I dont even know at all! Pros: Clean Bathroom, Free Bread, Nice Silverware more

Will never go back! 7/23/2005

The table next to us were seated, ordered, and got appetetizers before we even got our menus! It took 45 minutes to get our food, which turned out to be dull, overcooked, and not worth the money. No one checked on us so we kept having to flag down people to even get water. This was a horrible BYOB. There are so many other really good restaurants that this one will not last. Cons: poor service, bland food, loud more

Most Authentic Italian Food in the City 3/6/2005

Ate at Gnocchi again this weekend & once again was impressed. The food is ALWAYS great. Generous portions, reasonably priced, & the freshest ingredients. The Gnocchi is homemade, just like in Italy .They are light & airy & sauces are made fresh to order. I read some reviews below & can tell you from experience that the fettuccine IS homemade, and real Italians dont eat butter on their bread !!! The olive oil is imported from Italy from a town called Alatri ( I asked the owner ). For those of you who didnt like it ,eat at Olive Garden. For those people out there who want a HIGH quality, very moderately priced authentic meal GO to GNOCCHI, you will not be disappointed !!!!!!!! I'll be going back with a group next week, The family style Pre Fixe is the best in the city!!!!! Pros: great food, inexpensive, great quality Cons: almost too cheap more

Really good BYOB 12/20/2004

We really liked Gnocchi. The food was great! My girlfriend and I both got different varieties of the gnocchi - it was excellent. The resaurant was a little cramped but it was very cozy. more

blech 12/18/2004

this place came highly recommended and i ate there with a fairly large group this week, about half of us had been there before. i had salmon, everyone else had gnocchi or chicken parmesan (not on the menu, but they serve it). mine was below average (definitely not fresh fish, poorly cooked, boring sauce) and everyone else agreed that the food just wasn't what it used to be. the portions were also smaller than they used to be (5 raviolis?). gnocchi comes with everything so shouldn't it taste good? mushy pasta bags more like it. fairly cheap, but not worth walking for. Pros: cheap Cons: , small portions more

Good bread, bad food 11/24/2004

The highlight of the meal was the excellent olive oil and homemade bread that started things off on a good note. Regrettably, it was all down hill from that point on, food wise. The grilled calamari appetizer was tough and small. The salmon with Mediterrean salsa was greasy and totally uninteresting. The namesake gnocchi was blaaaaannnnnndddddddd. The escarole was lacking in flavor too. Philly's got a wealth of good Italian restaurants; go to one of them instead and don't waste your time on this place. Pros: inexpensive more

Great Italian 5/23/2004

I have been to this restaurant many times and have not been dissappointed. Wiht a group of eight we were served family style and all enjoyed a sampling of the menu items while we ordered our entree. Quite fun and took away any pain of ordering. We were here on Valentines Day with friends and even with a special menu were heartily pleased. Hats off to Gnocchi! more

Great find 5/18/2004

This is a nice, honest and delicious find just off of South St. (perpendicular to Fat Tuesday's) Service is great and heavily accented and the food truly is very delicious. Those posting to the contrary simply don't know and likely eat dinner out of a can. Crowded weekends. BYOB. Note - one trip the waiter went so far as to track us down at a neighbring bar when our table was ready (nice!) Pros: Delicious, Romantic, Inexpensive more

Tastes like a Venetian sewer 3/20/2004

Why is it next to impossible to find good Italian food in Philadelphia? For a city known for its cuisine, a public rating of 9.6 is a laugh. Ragu on top of San Giorgio has more flavor!! The only positive thing I can say concerning the food is---since we live in an area with a high proportion of obesity, perhaps bad food such as this will help in controlling the city-wide weight average. Even the least discerning person should rearrange their plans, and strap the feedbag on somewhere else---like Little Italy in NY. I mean come on---if youre going to name your restaurant Gnocchi, at least make a decent gnocchi. A flavorless lump of dough, which at this moment is eerily expanding in my stomach, does not constitute a good Italian meal. Nice try, but I give this food from the boot the boot. Pros: Friendly wait staff, nice atmosphere Cons: , butter with bread more

The worst pasta I ever had... 3/20/2004

It pains me to write a bad review, but what's up with this place? First off there is nothing besides water to drink (it is BYOB) and hey that's cool, fine...no problem. Then we are served bread with no butter, although there's olive oil on the table of a very poor quality. I ordered Spinach Fettucine in red sauce and here's where things went south. The fettucine was the most overcooked pasta I ever had. It was low quality, had no taste, and felt like hot slime going down my throat. The table behind us were all finished except one person pushing around the same meal on her plate. On a good note the wait staff was very friendly and hospitable, and it is a lovely atmosphere. But seriously you are better off staying in and preparing a box of Barilla!! Pros: Friendly, Nice Atmosphere, Fast service Cons: , Poor Quality, Overcooked more

cool spot 4/3/2003

as you may have read already, the gnocchi's are as good as advertised....light and tasty. our server was very friendly and attentive. we dined on a wed night and were seated promptly, but i imagine a weekend would be more crowed, as it should be. this is a cool little spot worth visiting again. Pros: great gnocchi, service more

You arrived... In Italy, that is... 3/14/2003

One of these rare type of restaurants where the family who runs it takes pains in ensuring you have a good time and an excellent meal. The waitresses even get excited explaining the menu to you. And then there's the food. Oh the food... The gnocci melts in your mouth, the pasta is al dente perfecto, and the seafood was cooked to just the right point. I went three times with the same result. A bit noisy but the cogenial atmosphere is contagious... Pros: Great food, Inexpensive, Waitstaff Cons: Bit crowded more

Try the Tiramisu 3/7/2003

The Tiramisu is the best. I have tried many kinds and I always come back to Gnocchi's for theirs. Everything on the menu is excellent. I always ask for Gnocchis bolognese or the seafood risotto. You get a great portion for your money. The waiters and waitresses there are so friendly. Pros: fair prices, friendly service, BYOB more

what a find 2/23/2003

delicious food at a great value! the ambience is cozy and warm. the very friendly waitresses are sometimes pushy about making you share your wine with them, though. Pros: Inexpensive, Atmosphere, Service Cons: Crowded more

One of my favorites! 2/6/2003

Great food, friendly service, What else can you ask for? I love this place and frequent it as much as I can. more

Consistantly a crowd pleaser 1/19/2003

Every time I am asked to take someone out to dinner, this is the place I recommend for an informal night. The food it consistantly amazing (I have been here over a dozen times) and everyone I have taken to Gnocchi has added it on their favorite's list. Seating depend on the night since it is first come, first served for groups less than 6. It is nice for a couple or for a group, however you can feel rushed on the weekends if you are a pushover diner. more

Great BYOB 11/18/2002

Went on a Tuesday night. Place was quiet and food was great at a bargain price. I will definitely go again. Pros: inexpensive, great service, great food more

Classy BYOB 9/17/2002

I've been hearing about this place...we had no wait at 7pm on a Saturday night, the food was delicious and the service very friendly and prompt. A must for BYOB/Italian food lovers! more

MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH 9/3/2002

The absolute best Gnocchi's I've ever had! They were so light and delicious. The staff stayed an hour past closing and didn't even rush us out. It was a wonderful experience. Pros: Resonable, friendly, tasty more
