Yuck. I promised to not subject my body to toxic food in 2010. I had heard Mona's had some healthy choices. Not true. They do what most restaurants do. Use the fattiest products and MSG to make it taste better but it's not healthy, just easy and cheap for them. \r \r I have been twice and do not recommend it. To top it off the place is really, really cold. We ate with our coats on. Another problem is the acoustics. You can't hear the persons you are dining with because of all the hard surfaces. Which causes me to recall the bench seats. Outch! \r To sum it up, there is not much about Mona's on Broadway I can say something positive about. Pros: Sorry none. I was out running around and needed breakfast. I was driving south on Broadway and saw their great painting on the side of the building. There was parking right in back. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly waitperson, shown to a booth and given the good menu. The place is airy and bright and modern; I liked it right away. I figured I'd test them so I ordered something that was exactly on the menu to see if I'd get a 'no substitutions.' But the friendly waitperson didn't blink and eye, or even write it down. Within minutes I had my order and it was just right. There was a side of potatoes with green peppers and red onion. The potatoes were browned just right and the onions and peppers were done, but just so they still had a crunch. This is hard to do; try it at home sometime. My first time and I'll go back. Maybe need to work on consistency, but the blueberry pancakes and bacon were spectacular 2/3rds of the time. And I'm obsessed. I've probably been to a good dozen restaurants in Denver looking for the best blueberry pancakes. These pancakes are by far, hands down, the winner. They buy fancy bacon and don't overcook it. And it shows. I like the light and space of the place; nice atmosphere. And the service is generally good, but sometimes not. That's almost irrelevant... my score is almost entirely pancake based. To be fair I've only seen two shows at the theater on Broadway, but I enjoyed both. The first show was ""Nak*d Boys Singing"" and the second ""Debbie Does Dallas"" and both were musicals. You can count on TOB to bring the counter culture out in their shows and if you're shy its probably not the place for you. Its a small theater with a fairly intimate setting. If you're in the first row you can expect to feel like you're in the show. Which will probably contain some racy moments that push the limits of conservative tastes.\r \r The actors have a range of talent from amatuer to highly professional. Some of the voices could use more training, while others are just shining stars. The theater offers drinks are intermission and is a great place to see shows that are not offered elsewhere.
