definitely a tourist thing, but where are tourists gonna get a real luau?! 12/22/2005

i ranked this as a great, b/c i think for what it is, it's great. i think most tourists get the idea that it's not the "real thing" as soon as they get on the bus and they've got the super nice, but super cheesy local comic/guide on board doing his schtick. i thought the food was good, the entertainment better than what i expected and considering i got a deal with the entertainment book, we were pretty happy. sure, you don't want to eat here if you're a local, but if you've got visitors in town who want this kind of thing, i think it's a great place to go. more

Great for tourist 12/1/2005

As a local, it isn't all that great. We took our out of state friends here. Although it is cheesy (to most of us) it is also fun when you're with people trying new things and are forced to go up and dance. The food is nicely portioned for those just trying and aren't used to eating "Hawaiian" food. For locals, the food is not enough. I enjoy poi and all the other fares like lomi lomi salmon but they only give you a smidgen. It was nice to take pictures with our friends with the beautiful background nature provided with palm trees and a setting sun. It was a great memento for our tourist friends and a good time for us to see them experience to a degree of what a luau is. more

not my pick for a luau 11/18/2005

I'll argue with the too good to miss part! If you want an authentic luau, this is not the one folks. Sure, it's a great tourist experience but nothing like the way the locals eat, dance, or celebrate (I know, I lived there for 5 years and still return regularly since my inlaws live there). The food is fair. The dancing is cheesy. I guess if I had never been to Hawaii before I might think this was a good experience but oh, what people are missing. more
