George's A C & Heat

We had 1 of our 2 units stop cooling in the evening. Called them on a local recommendation. Came out the same day (within 5 hours of the call) and identified the capacitor of the bad unit as the culprit. Replaced and reset the pressure switch to get it running again. I asked him to top of the Freon (the new kind that's $25/pound) and both units took a total of 2 lbs. Total bill came out to $280. I'm told I can buy that capacitor for <$40. So it looks like parts = $90; labor = $190 for 30 mins of work. I might have been overcharged, but you be the judge. The service was good, knowledge very good, speed was excellent. I had another A/C guy scheduled to come give me a quote later this afternoon and was planning to make decisions based on price and perceived service/competence... that plan was out the window within 2 minutes as the old capacitor was removed and George headed back to his truck to get a replacement. Would I call him again? I would if I couldn't get another guy to my house to quote me the job first. 3 stars. more

Looked at all the reviews for George's AC, thought wow no problems here. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Spent two days trying to get him to return a call from 281 391 6968; it is an answering service and has atrocious service. Put on hold for 10 minutes, finally answered and told by the answering service George would call, Nope. Called 2nd Day 2nd message and told George would call. George called third day and refused to go to the home to service it as his friend Dan with Absolute Comfort AC, which has bad reviews, was the current repair company for the home we were purchasing. I saw the work being done on the existing equipment and it was not being maintained properly, but I thought at least I could meet him and see if he was tolerable. George gave me 281 394 0842 as Dan’s number and it has been disconnected. Once again, tried to call George again…back to the answering service …George will call…George will call. Absolutely horrendous service, good luck if you choose to let this guy work on your equipment. I doubt you will even be able to reach him. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. more

We have a rambunctious puppy and in one of her latest adventures, she discovered the air conditioning unit at the side of our house. She loves to chew and nothing is safe. In the short time she was outside, she quickly chewed through the cords surrounding our AC unit. We needed to get things repaired quickly, but were not sure who to call. Our previous experience with the service company provided through our home warranty was terrible and we knew we didn't want to contact them again. I remembered reading the review of George's AC & Heat here and we quickly contacted him. When we called, it was the day after a holiday, so we figured we would have to wait a day or two before he came out, but we were wrong. He was at our home within 30 minutes. He quickly repaired the damage to the cords and wrapped them to prevent further damage. When he gave us the total for the repairs, we were very surprised. It was completely reasonable and much lower than we had expected. In Texas, no matter what time of year it is, you cannot afford to be without your air conditioning. If you are looking for someone who offers reasonable rates and quick turnaround time, George is the man to call! more

We purchased a 20 year old home in the City of Katy with two original heating and cooling units. Repairs have been done on the two units over the years in a piece meal manner. The units only go out on the hottest days of the summer or coldest days of the winter. Our previous one story house down the street had two separate heating and cooling units: one for the house and another for the "Mother in law" quarters near the pool. George was originally recommended to me by Teachers and PTA/PTO Members at a number of our local Katy schools. His wife has been employed in KISD for years. George has installed air cleaning units to existing equipment at both of our Katy homes. George uses an answering service. All calls are answered quickly and returned promptly. George is willing to do what is needed if you are tight on funds to get you some cool air quickly and come up with a long term permanent correction to the problem. George works on houses all over Katy and Houston areas: from $700,000 homes down to $50.000 homes and has been in the air conditioning and heating business for many years. George is used to working with City Inspectors and homeowners to obtain any necessary permits and related inspections needed for any new equipment installed. We originally used George in approx 1986 as a second or third opinion because we could not even begin to afford the estimates given us by two other local Katy/Houston major air conditioning and heating companies. George is a Katy resident and will be around to service your unit(s) in the future. If you are afraid to call a heating and cooling specialist because you can not afford the repair: Call George for a free second opinion and/or estimate and your yearly routine maintenance on your heating unit in the late Fall and A/C unit in the Spring.George's Ad in the Katy/Fort Bend Consolidated Phone Book also states No Overtime Charges. I have reached him after hours many times and he has been willing to come out on the weekend or evening when Kids have been ill. He also takes VISA and Mastercard and offers a Senior Discount. When we arranged inspections for my Dad's 10 yr old home in Katy we had George do the A/C and heating inspection. My Dad has also been very pleased with his services. I see George's vehicle in my Dad's neighborhood every other day and pass his truck all over Katy. I can tell many other Katy residents use him exclusively for their heating and cooling needs also. more
