Best

Dont know about anybody else but I had a great time here last night. Pros: Friendly Bartenders, Lots of girls!! Hot Waitress! Cons: None

Worst

The AC equipment on the roof of Gatsby’s bar at 53 Spring has been roaring all night and continues this morning. I invite all the neighbors who hav...

Still have to love it! 9/21/2007

I've become a regular here now and I have to say I still love coming here. The bartenders have changed a bit but its still the same great atmosphere and welcoming faces. The weekends are also still good with a lot of people hanging out, even in the bars that are close by. I also love that they brought the shepards pie back! Thank You!!! more

Great Night Out 7/30/2007

Was at Gatsby's this past Saturday night for my friend's 21st birthday. We were able to reserve an area for about 15 of us and it was all ready when we got there around 11. The service was on point, drinks were great, music was pretty good (we certainly danced all night long to it!) My friend had a great birthday and all of us really enjoyed ourselves. We all agreed we'd love to go back there often and soon. Definitely highly recommended! Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Music more

Wow (thats all i have to say) 7/25/2007

We came across this place one Saturday night and oh my god im glad we did. Talk about a great night out. The staff were friendly the bar was full and there were hundreds of people to bust a move with :D more

Good Bar for the Area 5/9/2007

This place is near Little Italy and I think it's a good one for being close to the area. It's pretty big and open. I think it's a good place to meet people. A good place to socialize and get a drink with friends. There is nothing wow about it though. Pros: Spacious, good to move around in and mix in with a crowd more

Snooty hostess 5/1/2007

Thought i liked this place but they seem to have a new policy of having businesslike hostesses rush you to a seat and pressure you to order and after a short while, pressure you to leave. Our last time there, our food came cold and since it took a while to reheat, we felt even more pressure to finish and leave. Unfortunately we vowed to not go back. It had lost its neighborly appeal. more

Best Soho Sports Bar 2/22/2007

This bar should be renamed Soho Sports, every time i come in they're crowded, and depending on the time of day or day for that reason they are showing something new! I moved to this area from Texas about a year ago and generally work from home, so i head to Gatsby's for day time soccer, evening hoops and even caught the Nascar there at the weekend! So all you fellow Soho out of towners this is the venue. Superbowl was mobbed, I'm planning to have a Texas party for the march madness final, come early for a seat at the bar!! Go Longhorns!!!! Pros: any and all sports Cons: usually crowded more

Hands Down the Best Bar in SoHo!!!!! 12/10/2006

I've lived in this city my entire adult life and I just discovered Gatsby's a little over two years ago. I wish I had found it earlier! This place is awesome. They have great food (try the cobb salad or chicken club panini), friendly speedy service, an awesome DJ on the weekends and nice atmosphere on the weekdays (especially if you're a sports fan). The crowd there is a little more down to earth than your typical SoHo snotheads. I don't know why girls gone wild hasn't discovered this place yet, but Gatsby's seems to be always packed with attractive women looking to tear it up for an evening. You can hardly walk through the place with out being purposefully chatted up by some intoxicated co-ed or visiting business woman. I now go there to cap off almost every night out on the town. Absolutely the best. Pros: Great Bartenders, great food, fun crowd. Cons: Not the cheapest bar in the world, but what do you expect in SoHo. more

Great place for a party 12/8/2006

I had a work holiday party here, and the event was great. The owner is really nice and was very easy to work with in setting everything up and making sure that the attendees were happy. She bartended for us, and the drinks were good, and everyone enjoyed her personality. There were appetizers, tons to go around and they brought the food out as was needed, which was great. I didnt have to worry about anything. People showed up early, so they started the open bar earlier for us. Once the open bar was over, we still had our back area roped off for us. Overall, it was truly a great place. Pros: good drinks, great staff more

A comfy bar to throw your feet up in. 11/11/2006

Comfort away from the normal "sit you down, feed you, then take your money joints", normally found sprawled along the shopping districts of lower manhattan, this place was comfortable. My wife and a couple of friends came to New York for the weekend to take in some shopping and pre-season buzz, the girls went off on their usual stampeed of the stores and us blokes found Gatsbys...We were made feel like we were locals not rushed, and they even put on the footie, lets go liverpool!! A cute irish bartender and her sidekick waitress went out of their way telling us the do's and dont's of visiting new york! All i can say is we were treated great and not the only ones there to think so, a group of firemen from florida also found a home from home as they'd been in every day for the 3days they'd spent in new york, check it out, not bad for the ladies either!!! more

BLAH 10/18/2006

The "scene" description is pretty accurate and honestly and I can't believe why this place is on of the best-of lists... makes me question the list! Reading these reviews, I notice a common thread - there are many infuriated, unsatisfied reviewers and then multiple, nice-sounding happy-go-lucky patrons... seems like there may be some fabricated reviews - As for my own personal experience, my office had a after work party there on a tuesday not to long ago and the drinks and service were very blah. the food sounded like regular bar appetizer grub but came out HORRIFIC! In general, the place doesn't feel like NY - it feels like a random pub in mid-america, which might appeal to some, but for the location and price - there are way better options nearby! Pros: You can walk by better places nearby and see what you're missing Cons: It's like a lame horse waiting to be taken out of commision! more

The place to be!! 10/8/2006

I recently held my 30th birthday party here, and we had a great time!! Atmosphere Pros: The place is A1, huge selection of drinks!! Cons: They close down at 4am!! more

Disgusting. 12/10/2005

Horrible experience. I physically thrown out for knowing someone who innocently ate something from an open buffet table (really), accosted by this shrill horrible woman (someone said she was owner) then threatened by this bouncer who explained at length that he had the legal right to break all of my bones -- and I'm a slight, mid-30, California hippie who's never picked a fight in his life. Awful people. Awful place. more

Just OK 11/19/2005

I stopped in to Gatsby's before a concert at the Bowery Ballroom. The bar is nice with a number of plasma TV's for watching sports, but it's way overpriced. I paid $6 for a Miller Lite! I know it's NY, but that's crazy. more

Excellant Overall 8/18/2005

THis is a great bar where both locals and out of towners come. You will meet a lot of different people. THe atmosphere is very friendly and open; mainly thanks to the bar tenders. The music is great, especially on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights when there is a DJ playing. Overall I would highly recommend Gatsby's for a night out on the town. Pros: Great Music, Lovely Bar Tenders more

Sweet spot 8/9/2005

I went to Gatsbys on a Sat. nite after a concert with a few lads. We were all ready for a good session and weren't dissapointed. The music was great, the pints were flowing and the bartender was hot. I don't know much about Fitzgerald's Gatsbys but this place was good enough 4 me. Pros: Atmosphere, Tunes, Irish accents Cons: crowded more

brilliant! 2/16/2005

great place for a few good pints in the neighborhood. more

The Best in the Area 10/18/2004

Of all the pubs and restaurants in this area, this is certainly one ofthe best. more

Pros: great beer selection, good looking crowd, Good music Cons: expensive, very busy more

Awesome time... 1/3/2004

Me and 11 other Californians accidentally stumbled upon this place and immediately liked the vibe, probably b/c of it's shiny red paint outside. It wasn't that busy b/c it was a non-weekend. Music sucked but the bartender was truly dope. We liked it so much, came back 2 nights later. I liked the selection of beers and lagers... didn't try the mixed drinks. I will definitely come back here again when i'm in NYC. Pros: Laidback, Good beer, Bartenders Cons: Music, Music, Music more

Average 12/13/2003

This place was just average. Average in every aspect. I didn't pay 5 bucks to get in, so I don't know what other peoples are talkin about. Cons: Tiny Bathrooms more
