Upscale Yet Low Key Place To Be 12/28/2010

Real great and affordable party for New Years Eve '11. Very upscale yet low key place. 5 hours of premium Open Bar says it all! Tickets are about $90 cheaper then most other parties on NYE, your wallet will thank you in the morning. more

Cool place 10/11/2010

Place is pretty good -- plenty of hot chciks and the music was off the hook -- got kind of crowded downstairs tho. will definitely go back with the crew again... more

Fun Bar with inexpensive drinks and awesome music 9/12/2010

I stopped by Gallery bar for a birthday party on Saturday night and it was so much fun! The DJ was great! He didn't play the current hits only; instead, he mixed in tons of old school hip hop with several current hits so we were all in the groove. The drinks are about $7, which is very reasonable for a nice lounge/bar with people dancing. I definitely will come back again for a nice night out! more

If I could give it less than 1 star I would 4/26/2010

I came here to celebrate my birthday with a large group of friends and will never return after the way we were treated. On 3 separate occasions, the same bus boy intentionally spilled buckets of water/beer/alcohol on myself and other members of my party. I understand it's a crowded bar, but this bus boy made threats and then proceeded to drench people in this beer/water- these were not accidents. The bouncer even had to kick the bus boy out for being rude and obnoxious. Then another friend went to the bar to get a shot and was given a shot with a piece of glass in it!!! Luckily he only cut his mouth and didn't swallow it! To top it all off, Gallery included a gratuity fee on the bill for each bottle we bought and then demanded that we tip them again on top of that! Bottom line - Go somewhere else and do not let this place ruin your night. more

Love the mix 4/26/2010

Friend dragged me here on 4/20 for the Cheeba Cheeba party. Ended up having a blast with the tyku, it glowed green!! How perfect. Stalley was awesome, everything was on point. Will definiely be back on a normal night but no more free tyku open bar =( Pros: artwork, cool crowd Cons: expensive drinks normally more

I have never had this bad an experience 1/30/2010

Called a week ahead to ""reserve"" a table for my birthday and committed to purchasing a bottle. In return I was promised a guest list which would get everyone into the bar. Sure enough, that night the bouncer and ""hostess"" refused to let anyone in that was on the list and made every single person wait in a line (was the coldest night of the year), claiming that the entire bart was ""guest list only"". Upon speaking with the manger it became incredibly clear that those in charge were incompetent and did not care in the least to make their customers happy. Every single reserved table that night encountered a similar situation, with one poor girl sitting by yourself after paying $300+ for a bottle and having all her friends stuck in line in the cold. I warn anyone who ""reserves"" a table for their birthday, that the ""list"" will not allow their guests to avoid a 30 minute wait in line. FYI, pleading with management, the hostess or any of the bouncers will not gain any favors. Hopefully one day they will realize its better to please their paying customers than to create the impression of false demand by making people wait in line for 30 minutes when the bar is empty inside. Cons: Management is incompetent more

Well Established Cool Bar 3/4/2009

I love this place and will go back whenever possible. I love the layout and the cool decor. I feel like I am on top of the world when drinking and meeting people here. I like to bring friends too anfd everyone leaves happy. try it please. more

Very cool spot on the LES 3/4/2009

Among the ton of cool LES bars, GalleryBar is definitely one bar not to be missed. The space features really unique art, GREAT music and just a cool vibe. Pros: Cool, Fun, Good Scene more

Good vibe, bouncers not very nice 1/6/2008

I like the bar, the artwork is really cool. It was very trendy and young, drinks were expensive.... more

AND IT WAS A TUESDAY??!!! 11/15/2007

Walked by gallerybar, as its on my home, and i saw Al Franken giving a speech. (you know ,remember stuart smally from SNL?) He was very funny. I then decided to stay and had a better night out then any weekend in NYC The huge photos from the iraq war were sobering, but the crowd and the music was suprisingly great!\r \r Pros: music, GREAT GALLERY, crowd more

Where's the artists? 11/13/2007

It's an average hip hop dj bar. not an artist or hipster in site. It's a place for ""art"" in name alone. other than that, it could be called ""Slim Freddy's"" and you wouldn't know the difference. Don't go to be wowed. Unimaginative people pretending to be imaginative. If that's what you are looking for, then chances are you've already discovered the actual artist bar around the corner...you know the one with the cheap drinks and cool people. Pros: Empty wallet Cons: Expensive and average...move along nothing to see here. more

Drinks, Art and a Photobooth!! 10/16/2007

GalleryBar rocks out the LES like none other! I hosted my 30th last Saturday night and as depressing as turning 30 is, had the best time I've had going out in years. I set the party up with Josh and reserved an area in the downstairs lounge and can't thank you guys enough. We were greeted, seated and taken care of all night. The waitress Rachel was on point and my guests are still talking about my party. Later in the night I took a walk upstairs to hear the best mix of classic hip hop and rock. It was then, I spotted the PHOTOBOOTH... Let's just say I have the pictures to prove it! Josh, you guys are on to something special. Keep it up and will be back soon. Pros: Service, Vibe, Music, Crowd, Photobooth Cons: The night ended. more

Two floors are money 9/6/2007

The key advantage to Gallery Bar is its two floors. Downstairs is more chill, with lounge areas and a lower ceiling. Upstairs is better for dancing, with a DJ and even a photographer to help you do your thing. more

Good Stuff... 5/9/2007

Go earlier and claim a place to sit - can get crowded later on (but not so much that getting to the bathroom is more painful than catheterizing yourself).\r EXCELLENT music on Saturday nights.\r Just make sure to bob and weave around the ""wooooooohhhh!"" drunk girls - they're usually pretty easy to dodge, though they do throw a mean elbow... Pros: Music, my sofa was crazy comfortable... Cons: booze = sorority girls. Blame the player not the game... more

Amazing 5/6/2007

i was at gallerybar this past sat and i dont think ive ever had more fun at any other spot in new york honestly, the owners were some of the nicest people i have ever met, and the drinks arent super expensive. i will def be going back there very soon, and the person saying that its like a bar in jersey is clueless cmon there name is tiesto nothing else is needed to be said about there opinion and how much it doesnt matter. go you wont regret it. Pros: great staff, and amazing music more

Crazy Night!! I'll be back. 5/4/2007

Wow. This is a great concept for a Lounge/Gallery. I hadn't been here yet, only heard of it. Last Friday I hosted a party and had a wild night, good music, amazing art show and a Photobooth. It got a little busy later in the night but it was still the best time I've had in months. I''l be back!!! Pros: Crowd, Music, Artwork, Photobooth more

not fun, bad crowd 5/2/2007

I went here on a Saturday night for a friends birthday party and it was way too crowded and not fun at all. The music was completely uninspiring, top forties nonsense, nothing that I'd expect from a new lounge in the LES. The crowd was even worse, I felt like I was in new jersey not a hip LES bar. My friends also had trouble getting in even though we were supposed to have a guest list, so the owners completely lied about how they would accomodate us. Never again will I go here. Cons: bad crowd, too busy, awful music more

THURSDAY NIGHT! 4/19/2007

Came here for a party on a thursday night. As a phtographer i couldnt believe how well done the ""gallery"" was. Refreshing to see great art in the LES. \r \r But, that wasnt all.. they had a few dj's spinning that said they hosted the party.they had this crowd moving. \r Great music, better art, and a perfect crowd!\r \r WORTH A VISIT!\r \r Pros: The space, the art, and the music Cons: a bit crowded more

Expensive, boring crowd 4/19/2007

I went here on a friday night. The crowd is different here than most LES bars. Less hipster, mostly suburban kids posing and trying to look hip. The DJ played typical pop hits, nothing unusual or interesting. With the atmosphere that the DJ and crowd instill, you might as well be in NJ or Long Island Drinks are not a good deal here, with no cheap beers, all are priced the same. You will pay the same $6 for a Yeungling (in most bars the cheap draft) as you would a Stella or Blue Moon. Bartenders were okay, but overall this place is nothing special. more

private party 3/12/2007

We've had a few drinks here and there at Gallery Bar for the past few weeks and each time was great. Last Friday we held a joint birthday celebration at the lounge downstairs. All was well until uninvited people came. It took a few talks with the owners to put things in order but once it was fixed the rest of the night went by smoothly. The dj was awesome, drinks range from $7-12 (strong), clean bathrooms and accomodating owners. Hopefully the crowd mix will get better in time because right now its not very LES. Pros: music, vibe, location Cons: reservation miscommunication more
