Best

Wow, my wife and I just ate at Fukada. How the heck did this place go under my radar for 5 years is unbeknown to me. As soo as we walked in I was awwww struck at the simple decor ...

Worst

Great food. Tofu is out of this world. Reasonable prices.\r \r HORRENDOUS service! We only return because of the great food. Recommend arriving at the very end of the lunch ...

Healthy, authentic Japanese food 9/23/2009

This is the place to get simple, Japanese standbys like Udon and donburis. Food is consistently good, and very authentic, as evidenced by heavily Japanese clientele. One criticism is how slow they are to seat parties sometimes. They may purposely be slowing the turnover so the kitchen and waitstaff can keep pace, but I've seen people wait 15 minutes with open tables right in front of them. Overall, a great place and highly recommended. Pros: Clean, simple, authentic flavors. Affordable specials Cons: Slow seating, slow turnover more

Great Food! HORRENDOUS service! 4/8/2008

Great food. Tofu is out of this world. Reasonable prices.\r \r HORRENDOUS service! We only return because of the great food. Recommend arriving at the very end of the lunch hours to avoid the line. IF you are very lucky and don't have to wait to be seated, then you will love this place.\r \r But the guy who seats patrons (see the other reviews here, too!) is an idiot. We have watched as the bar seats remain empty for as long as 20 minutes. He can not seem to figure out to seat folks according to availability. He is rude to everyone (including his colleagues, who he will verbally attack in front of patrons), so we try to avoid him by arriving at the end of lunch time on the weekends. Pros: Great waitresses. Cons: The guy who seats and also serves as table waiter is horrible. We can not imagine how he has kept this job and only hope he is not the owner. more

This is the real deal! 8/26/2007

Wow, my wife and I just ate at Fukada. How the heck did this place go under my radar for 5 years is unbeknown to me. As soo as we walked in I was awwww struck at the simple decor and felt like I was home in Japan again. The mostly asian clientele is a good sign that this place is going to be authentic and it is. They have everything from sushi to udon and it's good. Real good. Although the sushi rolls were a tad bit eh. I would skip the sushi and go right into some soba or udon noodle soup. The tuna tataki in an onion pepper sauce was to die for. Loved it. I also saw an ahi salad and I can tell you it looked great but didn't try it. I'm sure it was good. Great saki list, simple asian beer list and soft drinks. No hard liquor here. Kid friendly and the service, holy tables batman! I didn't have to wait for a thing and they were busy. There was a wait and we still got right in. Chef Fukada is very nice and does an excellent job with the cuisine. This place is a must try! Excellent. Domo\r \r Master Executive Chef, Stef Serafin Pros: Amazing Service, Food, Authentic Japanese Cuisine and I mean authentic! Cons: Not one thing although it would have been nice to have some music playing. But we couldn't complain about a thing more

Great Food and Service 12/29/2006

delicious, authentic japanese food. very healthy because it uses fine ingredients; they make their soba and udon noodles from scratch daily. very affordable, great service. however, the wait can be long at times (weekend evenings). highly reccomend! more
