used for new! 10/23/2009

frys sells some stuff for new but is really used without having the "open box" sticker price. I bought a wireless network card, it did not work, brought it back and the serial number on the card did not even match the one on the box! I refused for them to scam me like that, and would not leave till i got my money back. after 30 minutes of arguing they finally beleived i wasnt trying to scam them. some of my friends had similar experiences, a new item missing parts or manuals. I dont know if it is an accident when people bring an item back they forget to mark the item as opened. but they sure do a good job with the shrink wrap, and/or nylon straps to make it look like it is from the factory. Customer service is no good sometimes, ask a question and they answer in 5 words or less depending on the mood the person is in. Maybe i need to try the one on 59south. more

Fry's Electronics - it's like Disneyland for men! 6/18/2006

My husband and father absolutely LOVE Fry's Electronics. They could spend hours in the place and since it seems to be like a Disneyland for me, my mom and I always tag along to "supervise" and make sure they don't get too out of control! This store is HUGE and they have absolutely every "electronics" item you can possibly think of and a few other things, as well. It is well laid out into clearly labeled sections. They have everything you could ever need for your current computer (from hardware to software as well as accessories and how to books). They also have a wide variety of computers, laptops, and monitors to choose from. They have a huge selection of DVDs and CDs. They also have a wide variety of books including "how to" books and travel books. They have some kids toys, but during the holidays, I find that the selection is much better. They have large appliances such as washers, dryers, and refrigerators. They also have car stereos and everything you would need to put together your own home theater. My mom and I love to browse through the "small appliances" section. This is basically kitchen appliances and they always have something fun and new that I have never seen before. They also have things like scales (both kitchen and bathroom) and alarm clocks in this area. The knowledge base of the employees is hit or miss, though, especially compared to other electronics stores that I have been to. At Christmas time, I was looking for a bluetooth item for my husband and he had written down the information for me. I had to ask several different employees about it before someone could point me in the right direction and even once I got there, I was told that they didn't carry the product. After doing some browsing on my own, I was able to find it. Their sale ads are very good, and my husband and I have gotten some very good deals on things that we have found in the ads. They used to have really good everyday prices, too, but my husband and I have noticed lately that the prices are not as good if things are not on sale. For example, we recently bought a new digital camera and it was about $20 cheaper at Best Buy than it was at Fry's. My favorite part of Fry's is the huge selection of candy at the checkout area. They literally have rows and rows of it and they have every kind of candy you can imagine! There is always something I have never heard of and something new and different to try. There are somewhere around 25 checkout lines and there is an employee who will direct you to the next one that is open. Even though the lines get long, you usually get through pretty quickly, even during the holidays. Parking is another story! On a "regular" day it can be nearly impossible to find a parking space and on the weekends or during the holiday season, you can pretty much plan on driving around for awhile before you find something. If you haven't been to Fry's before, it's worth the drive, especially if you see something you like in the weekly ad! more

Very helpful! 9/29/2005

My husband's laptop is on the fritz. It is so bad he can hardly get it to load up without crashing. The people at Best Buy told him to go to Fry's!!! They were extremely helpful and even tried to fix it a simple way that wouldn't cost any money. Unfortunately, that didn't work but the thought was nice! He is taking it to drop off with for them to run diagnostics and possible restore his laptop. more

Huge Store 8/21/2005

This Fry's has almost anything that you can think of including a little groceries. Their are always about 20 associates always there to help you whenever you can't find a product or get lost. Did I mention they have everything? Their sales are usually rich with great items such as routers, speakers, or video cards. The parking lot could be bigger! more

Fry's has everything 8/6/2005

Fry's is absolutely enormous, they have everything that you could ever want in relation to electronics. I could not believe the variety and selection that Fry's had the first time I visited the store. A very cool thing about each Fry's location is that each store has a theme. The one of the North Freeway is oil themed and the one on the Gulf Freeway is space travel themed. more

Fry's 6/16/2005

Hubby and I like shopping at Fry's for most of our electronic needs. They have great customer service that are always us if they can help us or if we have any questions that they can help us with. I do have to say that somethings are cheaper than others but every thing is very well worth it in my opinion. more
