Okay, it took me a while to write this review mainly because I was so horribly disappointed and I didn't want it to leak into this review. My hair appointment was at 2pm I was the second person there. She had to leave the salon go to the hair store and pick up product. She came back and started working on someone else's hair that came after me, and then two other people that came in after me. She didn't start my hair until 6pm. I sat with conditioner in my head for 1 hour while she did someone else's hair that came in after me. I sat under the dryer for 1 hour with conditioner in my hair while she did someone else' hair who came in after me. She started my starter locs at 9PM!!!!! my appointment was at 2PM!!!! I told her I wanted something in between microlocs and small traditional locs she twisted my hair really tight with bee'swax and water that ran down my face (which she had done to all her clients. everyone had product running down their face, and looked uncomfortable). ""This wasn't just a bad day"" said someone that had been coming to her for years ""this is just how tonya works."" Now I don't know if she expected me to ever come back but I honestly don't have time to sit in a salon for nine hours. She overcharges for the quality of work she does and the quality of the salon. The parts were huge and not even close to what I asked for. I went to another salon and they felt so sorry about the jacked up work on my head she took them down and re did them perfectly exactly the size I wanted for half of what tonya charged me just because she didn't want me to start my loc journey with that horrible experience she told me to go back and get my money which I tried to but her phone was off. I have let this go but I don't want anyone to start their loc journey with the experience I had here.Tonya is lucky to have some very loyal clients that have been coming to her for a very long time willing to wait 6+ hours for an overpriced retwist to have beeswax running down their shirt. Do your research there are wonderful natural hair salon's in raleigh this is just not one of them. I am all in support of independently owned black businesses however you cannot treat customer's like this.
