Best tux shop 10/25/2008

We decided to give this place a shot becasue A: We heard good things, and B: I like the San Francisco Chronicle alot better then the local stuff, and I read they won the San Francisco Chronicle's best of the bay award. Therefore we said why not? After our experience here I'll now say, this is hands down absolutly the best place for tuxedos.\r \r I honestly for the last ten years am pretty sick of tuxedos and tuxedos shops, and the repetitive problems. I think I?ve rented about 4 over the last 4 years already. And I keep experiencing the same thing over and over, something will not fit, and you will either have to come back tomorrow or take it as is because they can?t do anything about it. Then they say their wearhouse in Texas or Angola or something (lame). This place gave me what I ordered fitting, and told me if I wanted something else the warehouse was 5 minutes away. Comon now, thats refreshing.\r \r The staff really knows what their talking about and although the wait can get a little long, they get the job done and make it easy for you to just get out of there. The prices too were pretty competitive. For the same style tuxedo and I think and I know for sure it was worse quality I?ve had to pay up to 15 dollars more for a rental. My cousin went there too and he told me he came in during a sale so he got a free rental for himself and we will have to pay about $100 bucks each. Not bad at all. They have one of the most diverse vest collections ive seen, their couteous, and they gave me a properly fitting tux with no fuss. So far VERY so good. more

GOOD I LOOK NICE 9/25/2008

I like this place. My dad likes this place. And my dad is a cranky old coot. I think we got there around 2pm, and were getting started by about 2:01. The sales person helping us was Victoria, I felt like she was a really warm genuine saleswoman, very good at what she does. What i liked was throughout the process I didn't feel pressurred, especially when she actually encouraged us to look at other places to see what was out there.. She asked and then we answered a couple of questions for her (where is the wedding, what type, anything you don't like, anything you do like, personal style questions, etc). After answering about 8 questions, she said she had the perfect type of tuxedo in mind. Then she went throughout the store and picked out about 6-7 tuxedos. As she pulled them off racks, she showed us each tux and we all agreed that each one was sharp, great selection. Next, I was was taken into a dressing area complete with curtain, tv and sofa for spectators to wait. Victoria helped me with my vest adjustment, ties, and was very sociable at the same time. The first tuxedo I tried on I thought was a real solid look, and ultimately we ended up picking it. What i really liked about this place is the staff here is fun and you really feel that they care. The tailor was pretty cool to, he helped me take in and get a perfect v-shape taper that i like for my jackets. Kinda a grumpier old grandpa type guy but he was on point and knew his stuff. Overall Formal Headquarters gets a 5 from me for great tuxedos, friendly service, and excellent atmosphere (bright, clean, and airy). Everything was extremely smooth, I?d recommend ANY groom, really check them out...\r \r more

Great place for tuxes. 8/5/2008

Formal Headquarters really is the place to go if you want quality. \r \r This is what formalwear shopping should be like. A beautiful location just off Blossom Hill, high ceilings, quiet and tasteful interior, huge windows with light streaming in... It's elegant, but friendly.\r \r Our tuxedo consultant, Victoria, was fabulous. She wasn't pushy (we told her we wanted a classy simple tux), and she graciously complied. She helped my husband in the cufflinks and adjusted his vest, and she offered tips on what vest & tuxedos complement his body type. Which colors matched my wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses etc. If we needed an answer to something, she found out right away.\r \r The entire experience was very easy. We ended up renting our tuxes right there, that day. A few days earlier we had went to another place and while they had an ok selection, the atmosphere was terrible, and getting a salesperson's attention was likewise a chore. I am so glad we went to Formal headquarters. (BTW, we ended up buying my fiance his own tuxedo and renting the groomsmen tuxs, ill update a different time). more

Great selection on classy tuxedos 4/7/2007

The store was somewhat packed but we were served within 5 min. The selection on fomalwear is huge so it took awhile for us to figure out what we wanted for my fiance and his groomsmen to wear. We ended up with a real trendy notch tuxedo. The service we received was speedy and excellent?.the staff was knowledgeable and attentive, but a little cold. Our bill all together per tux was about $99 so it's moderately priced. All together, we really enjoyed our experience there and will go back next time we are in need of a tux. Pros: GREAT selection, speedy service Cons: parking is hard to find on weekends more
