We got price quotes from about 10 different movers, and FlatRate's was the only truly flat-rate quote, and it was clearly the best one. Izzy Calvert at FlatRate was a pleasure to deal with, even as I kept amending our requirements.\r \r On moving day, 3 guys arrived spot on time. Very nice guys. Didn't grumble in the least when I needed their help in collapsing some baby furniture, etc. They were efficient and thorough in wrapping and packing up the bigger items (included in the price). They brought wardrobe boxes so we didn't have to take anything off hangers (again, included in the price). That saved us loads of time on packing and unpacking.\r \r In a big move, nothing goes without a hitch, and this was no exception. But I judge a company by how it handles mistakes, and FlatRate gets an off-the-charts score from me for how they handled the hitch . . .\r \r The movers struggled a bit with our bed base, and accidentally scratched our new wood floor. I found it hard to be mad, as they really were trying to do everything right. Even when I directed them to the wrong room with one piece of furniture (it was wrapped up well, and I mistook it for a different item), they didn't grumble a bit when I had to have them move it to a different one.\r \r In any case, the rest of the move went perfectly. I took pictures of the floor scratch, and got an estimate on repairs - $150. I emailed FlatRate. They agreed to cover the cost without any hassle at all. Frankly, I was stunned. Who gets service like that these days?\r \r I hope we won't be moving again any time soon, but if we do we are surely going back to FlatRate - and Izzy Calvert. Flat Rate movers by far are the best. Let me just start out by saying that they where not perfect, but they we're still damn good. My bookshelves from one of my book cases got left at the location I was moving from, but that's a minor detail. The crew was extremely professional, spoke English, and never made us feel rushed. My husband and I where unsure what we wanted to take with us. One of the movers helped us compromise in a very nice noninvasive way with out putting either one of us on the spot or taking sides. Most companies will accept help from the customer when moving, and of course my husband being the gentleman that he is offered help with some of the heavier furniture etc. and they kindly said no thank you. I thought about it later and said to myself I'm so happy that Flat rate did the move with out my husband's help because people in our neighborhood are extremely nosy, and I didn't want to have to explain to everyone why I was moving, what I was going to do with the apartment, and where I was moving to etc. OUR MOVE WAS ENTIRELY ANONYMOUS, which meant a lot to me. After leaving point A and arriving at point B... not only did they unpack our stuff and bring it into the house, but they asked us where we wanted each box and piece of furniture etc. Not too many moving companies do that. I was also amazed that I didn't even have to tell them to not drag the furniture on the floor and to be careful with my new floor tiles because they where already clearly taking those precautions and mindful of those details. I'm not sure if my hubby and I lucked out with an excellent crew, but they really where great. Needless to say I would recommend flat rate to anyone. They where patient, courteous, and flexible with the charges. I would never experiment with any other company. more

The representative that set up our move, Allan J. Roberts, was great. He was very quick to respond to my emails and calls and saved us a lot of stress, time and money. He called and checked in to make sure everything was running smoothly. He even followed up afterwards to make sure that our moving experience was flawless, which it was! I was very satisfied with his services as well as the movers. They packed up our furniture and were very careful to make sure that there was absolutely no damage. They went above and beyond. They were on time and moved everything quickly and carefully. I would definitely recommend FlatRate to anyone. What a great moving experience! more

The service was excellent. The representative that set up my move, Mark Soules, was there for every question or concern I had. He was quick, responsive, and was able to save me a lot of time and money. The next time I move, it will definitely be through Flat Rate and Mark. The movers were fast and professional and extremely careful with everythig they moved. The was the first time I can say I wasn't worried about moving and my furniture being damaged. Mark Soules was my original contact with Flat Rate movers. I called and asked for a quote, as I was moving long distance from Boston to NYC February 1. I had talked to other moving companies, quoting in the $3-4,000 for the move. Mark walked me through every detail and was incredibly responsive. The quote, which was the final price, was half of what any other company had quoted. However, I would pay twice the price or the experience I had. Mark was constantly calling, checking in, making sure my moving arrangements were transpiring smoothly. On the move day, they team drove in a blizzard to Boston and moved me out smoothly. Mark called twice during my move to make sure I was happy with the process, which was well above my expectations. The team was professional, thorough, and reliable. They called me twice on the way to New York, and kept in contact with my friend waiting for them in NYC as well. I have never had a move go so smoothly, from the very first contact I had with Mark I was in the BEST of hands. I would recommend Flat rate to ANY and EVERY one I know!!! more

I just finished a temporary (four month) move in NYC from a doorman building with an elevator to a five story walkup. The Relocation Consultant Mark Soules worked with me to not only assure a smooth move, but also to get some of my items to storage. He even made sure to take in impending snowstorm in to account and made sure to help me avoid that as a move date. I moved some smaller items earlier in the process and it only made me appreciate the the Flat Rate crew more. They didn't complain and still managed to be accommodating after moving my furniture up five flights of stairs. The crew was great and Mark even called me to check on the progress. I'll certainly be giving Mark and Flat Rate a call when it's time to relocate again in four months. I can't imagine doing it without them. more

I recently moved from NYC to Boston and, at the recommendation of a friend, called FlatRate Moving and Storage for a quote. They didn't give me a quote - they just asked where I was moving, what things were going to be moved, and approximately how many stairs needed to be climbed. With that info, the Moving Consultant, David Oknin, gave me the set price which included the physical labor, bagging my mattress, transporting closet items, covering mirrors and framed items, gas, etc. (all of which, incidentally, was a lot less than most of the quotes I was getting from other moving companies). That simple. I even had to add some items on the day of the move and the price didn't change (and the movers didn't complain). The move itself went really well. The movers arrived right on time, were quick and efficient with both the loading and unloading, and even beat us to my moving destination! The only ""work"" I had to do on the day of the move was to tell the movers what was being moved and where I wanted them to put my items on the other end. I experienced zero stress the entire day! I have absolutely no complaints, will definitely use FlatRate for future moves, and will recommend it to friends. I don't think I will ever rent a U-Haul again (even for a simple cross-town move)! This is my first move with them and it was so easy and great. I got my apartment the last minute (1 week befor e Christmas) wanted to get into it before Christmas, and didn't think I could find anyone to do it for me. Call Flate Rate Moving and talked to Mark Soules and he got it done for me. He gave me a couple of suggestions and help me get my rate lowered. They crew showed up on time and was very professional. I was moved and they were done in a couple of hours. Mark even called me on the day of the move to see how everything was going. It was something that I didn't expect for a local move. I have move using a national carrier across several state states and I never did hear from that sales man after I sign the lease on the move. Needless to say I was very inpressed and will recommend they for anyone who needs professional to help them move. Hey friends are great to hang with but not when you need to move. Thanks again Mark! I moved over Thanksgiving and was dreading the process..I held off for months well maybe years because I heard what a dreadful process moving in NYC was for people...I finally found the most amazing place and had no clue about any moving companies in NYC. On top of that, I found my place and was moving in literally a couple of days. So, I hit the internet and put my trust in FlatRate Movers. Izzy was the one who sold me and the movers Danny, Benjamin, and Hayward were all three the most professional, upstanding, and nice guys ever! The move was seemless. I'm an anal accountant and needless to say I am always micromanaging everything. I didn't even have to keep an eye on these guys. They wrapped everything, provided boxes, and moved all of my huge furniture and belongings up a 3rd floor walk up, without a peep. The owners said it was the quitest move they had ever seen in the building! To top it all off, I had left about half of my apartment unpacked for the valuable items, as I wanted myself and well my mom to help move these belongings, because I didn't trust any movers. Once I met them and they offered to pack it up, it saved me hours upon hours of work. They even packed up what I didn't have packed....I must admit that I have already planned to use them in my next move in NYC... I mean what can you say, you always have to be thinking of the next move here in the Big Apple!! Please use them and call Izzy to book your appointment. Oh did I mention, Izzy called while they were moving me to make sure that everything was going according to plan!!! All these other move by the hours might appear nice at first, but in the end you will spend more than FlatRate. I had a small apartment of furniture and it took 5 or 6 hours just moving a couple of miles away!!! Thank you Izzy, Danny, Benjamin, & Hayward. These guys did a great job for us. We've used thsi company for several small moves and just used them for a bigger move. They were very helpful, gave us an honest price with no hidden extras or last minute charges and took great care in keeping our belongings safe and secure. I've had problems w other movers before but these guys were terrific. I will definitely use them again. more

My husband and I moved back into New York City after selling our house in New Jersey last week and had such a great experience with this moving company we had to share it. more

so we moved cross-country with not much notice. Had to pack up and run, literally. Upon getting our box delivery, we packed up our belongings marathon-style. As the movers arrived on time, we still had a few things left unpacked. The movers/packers actually helped us packing some bigger items up. Within three hours everything was relocated into the flatrate truck. We ended up having a bit more than anticipated - LUCKILY, NO EXTRA CHARGE. Izzy walked us through over the phone from the first step to the actual arrival. Within, their window they gave us, our stuff arrived half-way through. No complaints, as everything was in good shape no damages whatsoever. It has been an amazing experience along with Izzy's professionalism and the movers' know-how to pack last-minute. Should we move, we will definitely use the help of flatrate. Thumbs up!!! more
