I just have to say this was a fabulous and 'moving' experience :)! From the sales person Alan to the movers Michael and John who moved me out of New York to the wonderful man who...

They are horrible. I agree with Alison G with 0 stars. They broke the most expensive piece of furniture I had and I got crap for compensation. Beware. Don't use them. I should have listened to the other reviews. more

Flat Rate - flat out dishonest. Charged us more than doubled for the move, way more for the insurance and for the month 'free' storage. Beware these guys are sharks. Filing a formal complaint for fraudulent business practices more

Horrible. 0 stars. We just completed a move with Flat Rate. The day of the move a single guy tried to pick up a very heavy ABC Carpet brushed concrete console table that cost $1300 and dropped it causing the leg to break off. Had to fight with the company for 5 hours on the phone (during the move as if move days are not stressful enough) to get them to agree to ""try"" and fix it. No money back, just asking them to try and fix it. Now, 2 days after the move I can see that in addition the 2 corners of a perfectly new Ligne Roset media console are chipped ($2500 purchase price). And now tonight i sit down to relax on my beautiful Christian Liagre sofa and find a tear down the back of the upholstery. The worst thing is that the Flat Rate team convinced me the day of the move to cancel a special service that i had hired to take apart and reassemble the large sofa because ""they do this all the time and it would save me $200. So now i'm thinking - great choice - new wool mohair from Holly Hunt gonna be running well over $2000. I am disgusted by the sloppy work and even more so by the company's refusal to take any responsibility. If you have expensive furniture I would avoid this company like the plague. more

If I could give FlatRate Moving more than 5 stars I would absolutely do so! I was going through endless moving quotes when I sent an email out to my office asking about moving companies and a friend sent me to FlatRate Moving. From my initial conversation with Daniel I was sold. It was an actual conversation where I enjoyed cataloging my whole apartment (shocking I know). After I got through my quote he said oh you know what because you were referred you get a discount. What? Seriously? You went out of your way to give me an offer I didn't know about?? Amazing! That just earned them more points in my book. Moving day finally came and my roommate and I had visitors in town and were completely unprepared. The movers were supposed to come between 9 and 12, they showed up precisely at nine. That never happens, I am constantly stuck waiting around. They went above and beyond helping us even though we really didn't deserve it since we weren't 100% packed. Beyond that my AC unit was stuck in my window and I figured I would have to leave it but one of the movers helped me pry it from the window. They moved an entire 2 person apartment out and in to our new place in about a 4 hour time period too. The best part about this company though (better than the efficiency, customer service, great price, etc.) was just how wonderful every FlatRate Moving employee I encountered was! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to the FlatRate team. There is no question in my mind, if you are looking for movers in the NY area look no further FlatRate Moving is beyond amazing.\r \r Also a friends sister just used FlatRate as well and had nothing but amazing things to say! \r \r **Friendly reminder... these guys kick butt so make sure to tip accordingly, they deserve it. Also they are lugging all of your heavy crap all over make sure to offer them beverages and snacks, especially if it's hot out! :) more

I'm certain that most moves go smoothly. It's a moving company and that what they do. But I think what sets apart a professional company from just another company is how they deal with difficulties and problems. This is a story of my move. use my review for what it is and make your own decision. If i could give a negative feed back, I would.\r \r Clearly, my experience with flat rate moving company was not a positive one. it was probably one of the worse experience in moving that i've experienced to date. I scheduled a move with flat rate at the end of June from NYC to MD - scheduled to start at 9 am. The crew arrived around 4 pm and the move was started. Below is a summary of the conservation, not in exact verbatim.\r \r 1st phone call - 8 30 am: \r FR: ""the driver called in sick. we are looking for a replacement driver... etc."" \r OK. that happens. \r \r 2nd phone call 9:30 am: \r FR: ""your crew will be there in 1 hour."" OK. all is well, so I thought...\r \r 3rd phone call 1100 am: \r ME - ""where is the crew?"" \r FR - ""they will be there in 1 hour or so. sorry for the delay.""\r \r 4th phone call 12:30 pm: \r ME - ""where is the crew?"" \r FR -""they will be there in an hour or so."" \r ME - ""you've been saying that since 9:30 am!"" \r FR - ""sorry for the delay. we will give you a credit of $100 for your inconvenience."" \r me -""you guys found the driver, right? I still need to move today. when are they coming?"" \r FR - ""let me check and I will give you a call in 15 minutes."" \r - NO FR follow up call.\r \r 5th phone call 1:45 pm: \r ME - ""Where if the crew?!"" \r FR - ""sorry for the delay. the crew is on their way."" \r ME (angry by this point) - ""You guys have been lying to me/wife regarding this whole issue. did you find a replacement driver?"" \r FR - ""the crew is on their way."" \r ME - ""That is a lie! We've been told that a crew is on their way since 9:30 am."" \r FR - ""sir, we are not lying to you."" \r ME - ""I tell you what, this is what has happened. you did not find a replacement driver. I am waiting for a crew from another job who has not completed their work, right?"" \r FR -""Yes, that is correct."" \r ME -""So, when are they coming.\r FR - ""They will be there in an hour.""\r ME -"" yeah right.""\r \r 6th phone call 250 pm:\r ME -""I'm still waiting?""\r FR - ""sorry for the delay. we will offer you another $200 credit.\r ME - ""I don't care about the money. I need to move today.\r FR- ""let me check with my supervisor. (minutes later) Sir, I don't know if we can move you today. could we reschedule your move for tomorrow? We will offer you considerable discount?""\r ME -""WTF are you talking about?! this is a breach of contract. my lease ran out today and i have a rental car. are you going to pay my rent and for my rental car expense? I need to move today.""\r \r etc.... I don't think I need to prolong this but I think you guys got the picture.\r so, eventually FR came around 4 pm after much more yelling and screaming over the phone. two apartments moved from NYC to MD.\r \r Flatrate wasn't our first choice since I was getting my moved paid for from my new job. but they were available on the date that I wanted to move. \r \r I haven't seen the $300 credit after 3 wks. they actually over charged me for the move, which was just amazing. I spoke with an eager customer service agent to whom I told the story. they have the phone conversations on tape but she hasn't review them. she said she will follow up with me regarding my complaint/issues during the move but haven't heard from them in 3 wks. \r \r Good luck choosing your moving company. even though flat rate is cheaper compared to others, I'm going with a more reputable companies in the future and will be happy to pay the extra $$. \r more

STAY AWAY from this company. We moved from London to Seattle in May. They picked up our stuff mid April promised 4-6wks for delivery. The London group MISSED the boat (this has been confirmed by FlatRateMoving). Our stuff arrived in the LA port over a month late (19th June). We are not a MONTH after arrival into US port and are trying to get a specific date for delivery and they won't accommodate - telling us they can only give a 10 day window and that they will charge us $250 if we're not there to accept delivery.\r This is appalling service!!!! You are in breach of contract. It was your error that will see our ENTIRE home arrive nearly 2 months after promised.\r We both work for large international corporations and will be HAPPY to make sure you never get work from its international employees more

Terrible experience. We moved from NYC to Houston. They subcontracted the Houston move and don't have enough resources outside of cities they serve. The movers demanded that I pay cash before they could move 2 flights (even though informed previously). Left all the items without assembly since they were too tired. Asked me to help move stuff along. Flatrate had to send their people a week later to fix everything. Make sure that the entire move is done by flatrate more

We moved several times with Flatrate and its always a good experience. Mark S. the point of contact was extremely responsive and accommodating and the crew (Milan, Vlad, Rafael and Mile) were awesome - moving our apartment in less than 3 hours start to finish. This is really the best moving company, and we also had a great rep in Mark. more

I've used FlatRate for my past 2 moves and was extremely happy with the overall experience. The whole process was seamless and they made what can sometimes be an overwhelming process much easier. \r \r Both times the guys showed up on-time/early and and whipped through our apartment. We put some larger furniture in storage and they meticulously padded and wrapped it. We even got a message post-Sandy about our things in storage letting us know that nothing was damaged. \r \r I would absolutely use them again! more

I just moved from New York City to Michigan and I was feeling anxious about giving my belongings to just any moving company. \r The FlatRate team kept me informed every step of the way from scheduling the pick up to checking in with me the day of the move to make sure I was content with the work.\r The team that packed me up arrived on time with a positive attitude. The team leader was calm and efficient. He had his team cover certain parts of my wood floor with cardboard and covered the door wall moldings so everything was protected.\r They took good care of my belongings i.e: first wrapped my white couch in saran wrap then protected it with blankets.\r I had fragile glass lamps that arrived in perfect condition. Artwork that had to be crated which the team leader had me supervise them pad the artwork with blankets and seal the crate.\r All of my inventory arrived safely to Michigan and the team that unpacked my boxes did a good job. They took their shoes off so my carpet did not get dirty which I appreciated. They were more than willing to moved my furniture and boxes anywhere I wanted in my new place.\r I highly recommend the FlatRate team and I would not hesitate to hire them again!\r Happy Moving!\r more

I would recommend FlatRate moving to anyone looking for an easy and seamless move. I have used them several times for both local and cross country moves and never been disappointed. They are always on time, professional, very quick to accommodate requests and easy to work with. They securely wrap precious items like mirrors and frames as well as take bed frames apart with ease. Their price guarantee allows you to know what you are paying for in advance without hidden fees, which is a sigh of relief when moving creates so many costly obstacles. I would never use another company! more

Flat Rate moved my stuff from my studio to a one bedroom (5-floor walk up) in Manhattan. They came early, packed all of my stuff, and brought it up the stairs easily. Steve and Ray were efficient and friendly and took great care packing my things. The organization over the phone was great we Mark Soules as well. Would recommend these guys to anybody. They definitely made a stressful process as bearable as it could be. more

We want to thank Uros and his team at FlatRate for an absolutely wonderful experience with our move. \r \r The team was more careful with our belongings than we are - from packing to setting the boxes down gently on our newly finished floors . They were a pleasure to work with. It was a very long day and they were so patient and worked very hard to get us moved in with furniture and boxes settled in the best location. They truly went above and beyond for us. We hope Flatrate will acknowledge and reward this exceptional teamwork. \r \r We have already referred Uros and this team to several friends. \r \r Many thanks for a seamless move. more

I used FRM to move from New York to San Francisco. The process went very smoothly. The movers were on time, organized and efficient. My rep Mark Soules was also great and helped us update our move plan as we ended up needing to revise our move items and date several times. \r \r I recommend FRM and would use them again for my future moves. more

Move from New York City to Storage 2days after Hurricane Sandy: This was the first time I used FRM and to my surprise this was one of the easiest moves I ever did in New York. No exaggeration. Not only was the service impeccable before the move, with the reservation specialist, Mark Soules, it was impeccable during. I moved two days after hurricane Sandy and in preparation of the move the dispatcher that was holding up the fort by herself , Maria Munoz, was extremely responsive and considering the FRM offices were impacted/flooded by the hurricane, it is a miracle my move happened, let alone how well it happened. \r \r The packing done by movers:Marcos Bobet and Bashiru Ibrahim was thorough, careful, professional and what i considered to be never ending yet their service continued to be pleasant and professional.\r \r This move was for a very sick friend who served our country in the Middle East only to come back a few years ago and discover he has a grave illness. Because he is too sick from treatments the close friends got together and assembked the money for the move to save the belongings for when he is well again. FRM was randomly sourced through google and we expected horrendous pricing or horrendous service, instead we got GREAT service and an extremely reasonable price on top of everything else. \r \r I would recommend this service to friends and family in a heartbeat. \r \r Mark, Maria, Marcos, Bashiru, thank you very much for everything.\r more

DO NOT USE IT FOR INTERNATIONAL MOVING. THERE IS NO NEGATIVE REVIEW ON FACEBOOK BECAUSE IT REMOVES ANY NON-POSITIVE COMMENTS!\r \r I had a fine move from Philly to NY. The movers were very detailed oriented and the customer service rep were quick to respond to my questions. I was recruiting and wasn't sure where I would be moving to. It could have been 1. NYC 2. HK 3.Shanghai. I asked the company if they do international moving and I would first store my items in the storage before knowing where I am moving to. I was promised that they were experienced in international moving, so I used this service even though it was more expensive than other companies that handle domestic moves.\r \r I have been asking the same questions on international shipping prices and moving insurance from Aug 7th, 2012 and I still do not have an answer today ( Oct 8th, 2012). I followed up multiple times in 2 months and only received one response that it will check with its international division at the end of August. That was the last time I heard from the company.\r \r I was not happy with the service as I now need work with another moving company to pick up my items from the storage and move them internationally. The other company may not even cover insurance because it did not pack for me ( Flatrate moving did) It has been very stressful to coordinate the move from Asia. I posted my feedback on Flatrate moving facebook page to recognize it did a good job on east coast moving, but disappointing job so far on its international moving. I cannot believe that the comment was removed from the page. When I wrote another post to inquire my previous post, the response was "" We removed it because it was not honest"" Not only the company did not ask for any details nor offer any help, it accused its customer dishonest. When I provide further details to proof my statement, the response was "" we cannot discuss your moving details on facebook. call the office #"" There was no apology and recognize its lack of response for customer inquiry for 2+ months . Few minutes later, my post was again deleted from its facebook page. What kind of legitimate company would remove customer's feedback? Instead of offering any help or provide any solution, it will just delete any non-positive feedback and keep positive reviews. I am not sure if those reviews are true anymore. \r \r Very disappointed. more
