Not good 1/16/2012

This place has gone down the hill. The decorations are great, but the service is terrible, the food isn't very good and the drinks are watered down. What can I say? I can't spend my money there again. more

AMAZING! 11/13/2011

When you read that the decor is funky, believe it. Be prepared. It looks like someone went into the attic and just stapled what they found to the walls. It is a bit of a shocker at first but as the night goes on, it creats really good conversation topics. more

Great food with terrible service equals mediocre restaurant. 5/29/2011

Many people go to Firefly for great food served in an unpretentious, relaxed atmosphere. We are no different. They have a fantastic chef and the menu is always interesting. Firefly is a must visit when we have out of town guests. There is a worrying trend happing over the past few visits. Waitstaff that would be unsuited to work at Shoney's! During our last visit with friends from overseas the waiter was wearing camouflage, mumbled ( a lip full of Skoal? ) from a menu that he obviously knew nothing about and served 2 our of 4 entrees that were wrong. Add reaching across our faces to take the dirty dishes away and never filling the water glasses and it was an embarrassing outing to a restaurant that we raved about. It's a shame to see the FIrefly tradition turn into this. Great food with terrible service equals mediocre restaurant. more

Eh. 11/8/2010

I really loved the atmosphere, but was very disappointed in the service. Our server had a ball cap on covering long hair and would start talking to us as he was approaching our table before we could even hear him. I also had trouble ordering because there really aren't many substitutions that can be made. Don't get me wrong, I respect a good executive chef, but some nights I'm just not in the mood for pork belly. Anyway... the food I got was very good, and the bartender was excellent- (we sat in the bar for an hour before being seated). Unfortunately service means a lot to me and because of our unprofessional server I will not be rushing back in the doors. more

Used to be good 9/9/2010

Firefly used to be really good a couple of years ago. I loved their hamburgers and they had the most charming menu. But recently, the food has gotten worse and the the last time I went in, the waitress treated my husband and I like we were a nuisance. We don't go there any more. more

Highly Over-rated! Don't bother! 8/3/2010

How this restaurant ever got a good reputation in Nashville is beyond me!! I love dining out and have many favorites in Nashville, but this isn't one of them. The menu is a boring rehash of last year's trends, and the food is not well-prepared at that. The service is horrible and the wait staff seem disinterested, bored and too busy to bother with you. The only way I can think that Firefly Grille has such a good rating is that the owners and staff have stuffed the virtual ballot box. AVOID!! Pros: Cute Cons: Lousy food, high prices, over-hyped more

I can't believe I had not been here! 6/1/2010

My friends have mentioned Firefly Grille several times, but I'm really not in the Green Hills area very much and had never been there before. This was the best meal I've had in 2010! We started off with tuna tartar and a platter of exotic cheeses. Our server suggested an incredible wine and was laid back but very professional. Then, I had a scallop entree that I have to have again. I guess, I WILL in the green Hills area a lot. Pros: Incredible food, great service Cons: Not open Sundays more

Firefly; One of My Favorites! 5/31/2010

Just ate at Firefly last night and had a wonderful time once again. This time I enjoyed the pasta of the day, which was fussili with sauteed shrimp and veggies in a roasted red pepper tomato sauce. It was simply amazing! The staff is always so welcoming and friendly, and the bartender makes the best drinks. I usually go for a manhattan. Dude knows his drinks. Definitely goin back again soon. Pros: Delicious, Unique Menu. Very Friendly Staff Cons: I can't resist the coconut cake more

A true gem of Nashville! 3/13/2010

I took my girlfriend there on Valentines Day on a recommendation from a friend, and Firefly instantly became one of our favorite places to eat in Nashville. The food was AMAZING. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The menu had a good selection of seasonal and fresh menu items that made it extremely difficult to narrow it down to 2 entrees. We can't wait to go back again soon! Pros: Amazing food, knowledgable staff, and great ambiance more

For the perfect evening... 2/22/2010

I bet there is nothing on this menu that would disappoint... Pros: food that you will remember for a long time, great service Cons: decoration is kitschy, small parking lot more

Worth every penny 9/19/2009

My girlfriend and I started with dirty martinis and the fried green tomatoes. Tomatoes were decent, the martinis were excellent. She got the cheese plate appetizer for her meal, and I got the mojo shrimp. Literally everything on our plates was good--there weren't ANY disappointments The only warnings I'd give are these: the Firefly wouldn't be my first choice for a large group (it's just not set up that way), and parking is extremely limited. GREAT for a date. Pros: Incredible food, great atmosphere, excellent staff Cons: Parking is a problem. more

loud, but great food 5/2/2009

My husband and I had a lovely dinner at Firefly Grille. We took advantage of the 39.99 coupon, which is one of the best values in nashville. The cheese plate was amazing, the wine list was extensive (although I do wish that they sold more wines by the glass), and the menu was small but well rounded. The only reason that this did not receive 5 stars is that a overly simple, pedestrian salad was served along side my gorgeous gourmet entr?e! Pros: gourmet food, relaxed atmosphere Cons: loud, unnecessary use of salad more

delicious! 4/29/2009

I was part of a group gathering there last night. The food was creative and everything was very good. I had a hard time deciding what to get because EVERYTHING on the menu sounded great. The servers were polite and helpful in picking out food/wine. The deserts were also amazing. I will definitely be coming back! Pros: delicious food, good atmosphere, helpful staff Cons: minimal parking more

coupon issue result of citysearch server issue 4/27/2009

firefly grille has been trying to get new menu posted in order to eliminate confusion, our menu changes completely every three months, hopefully everyone will be able to view the spring menu before the summer one is being served, many thanks to citysearch for this confusion! Pros: current menu has great options for 17.00 Cons: citysearch has been unable to update menus for about a month more

Great food, but I was miffed at their coupon trick 3/14/2009

Let's get the important things out of the way first. The menu is seasonal, and the food is fantastic--it's made with fresh ingredients and the tastes are novel. The portions are satisfying, and we'll definitely be back to try new selections. The service is laid-back yet professional. Prices are reasonable, but I was a bit put-off by a tactic that I've never seen before outside of a used-car dealership. I had never heard of Firefly Grille, but I saw a coupon for them in the local coupon magazine, so my wife and I decided to go try them. Coupons are like insurance for us-we use it the first time we go to a restaurant, and if we like it we'll keep going. If we don't like it, then at least we got a better deal than we would have without the coupon. Got it? Okay. So the coupon advertised a ""dinner for two"" for $39.99, two entrees, a starter, and a dessert. it sounded like a great deal for a restaurant that our friends and the local press liked. The only catch was that in the fine print on the coupon stated that the entrees had to be under $17 each-fair enough. So we went only to found out that one entree on the menu was under $17-and that was the hamburger for $9.50. The starters averaged $10. So if you get two hamburgers and a starter, that's $29. That means your dessert would have to be $10 to even match the advertised ""deal"" of the coupon. We knew the menu wasn't a new one because the server informed us that it only had two weeks left and he was very ready for the new season to start so he could eat something different. So basically, there WAS no good deal to be had with the coupon. It was a straight-up bait-and-switch tactic. I don't see why a restaurant that has such good food and ostensibly does good business has to resort to borderline-slimy tactics to attract new clientele. I know a lot of people wouldn't give it a second chance after that--I just don't get what they were thinking here. Oh well, food's good and we'll be back, but we're forgiving people who just want a good meal on our ""date night."" Pros: Great food, atmosphere, and service Cons: I thought they used an underhanded tactic to draw people in more

One of the best restaurants in Nashville 1/17/2009

My husband and I go here at least once a week. The food is fantastic and we are both very picky. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is very friendly. We love the seasonal menu. The pasta special of the night is my favorite and be sure to get the coconut cake. Pros: Great food and atmosphere Cons: frequently hard to get a seat more

Amazing Food 1/9/2009

My wife and I have eaten here a couple of times and I have even had a planned event with some fraternity alumni friends. The crab cakes and mac & cheese apps are to die for, deserts are always good and the bartenders make very tasty concoctions. The main course menus change seasonally I believe, but there is always something to please everyone from vegetarian to complete carnivore. The staff knows the menu backward and forward and are always charming (very important in my opinion). The atmosphere is one that may seem Tinkers or Gypsy Queen was in charge of interior decoration, but oddly enough it makes for an entertaining evening. The price tag is very reasonable and depending on how extravagant you get with you selection of beverages, can range from 30.00 to over 100.00+ on a dinner for two. I would highly recommend trying this place out at least once, you may find that it is your date night favorite! Pros: Food, Service, Parking. more

wonderful atmosphere 11/28/2008

In the past we have been to the eatery several times. It has been 8 months since our last visit and we were very disappointed! The crab cakes use to come with rosemary bread, a side and small salad. Now for the same price you get 2 small crab cakes with not much flavor. Side salad was extra. We won't be back. Menu not very interesting either. more

Great Place! 11/3/2008

This is a wonderful place to eat! The atmosphere is casual- the food selection was excellent. You could dress up or dress down and feel comfortable either way. Our meal was fabulous. You might want to call ahead for a reservation on the weekend. Price points are good- considering the quality of the food. The bar has a great vibe as well- I can easily imagine meeting someone there for a drink. Lots of free parking! No valet hassle. I spoke with the owner- very personable. Our waitress was great, and I would call the cuisine high end southern with a twist? I am a vegetarian, and they accommodated me very well. My friend ordered a beef entree that had perfectly crispy green beans and- phillo triangles stuffed with sweet potato. This was my first visit, and I plan to make many more. I ordered an arugula salad with pine nuts and my entree was pasta with spinach, asparagus and mushrooms. The cheese plate appetizer is a MUST. I am so glad to have found this place. It's nice to have a restaurant in Green Hills that is not frantic. You can come here and just relax. All the employees seemed very happy- from the bartender to our waitress. That's always a good sign. Pros: Ambience, parking, service Cons: didn't find any more

Great Place 9/2/2008

I loved it here. Great place great atmosphere great people. I would definitely recommend to others. I dont believe anything would stop me from coming back for more. The managers are really nice and accommodating. We did not have to wait very long for anything. The waiters were on point! Simply put. THIS PLACE IS FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more
