Figlio's is located in Calhoun Square, in Uptown, and offers a mix of pastas, salads & sandwiches that are traditional Nouveau Italian cuisine. Is that an oxymoron to say traditional nouveau??
Anyways, the atmosphere is great, with a very trendy, hip young crowd, and lot's of fun people watching onto Lake Street. The look inside is very elegant, yet casual, very American bistro, and it has a lot of great nooks to eat in.
Mon-Fri from 4-7 pm they have a great happy hour, with $2 drinks & mini appetizers. Their regular menu is moderately priced & the food is worth every cent.
As far as the cuisine goes, it's great. Not superb, but great. They have a ton of fun appetizers, with great fusion twists to select from. Their Baby Field Greens salad with cayenne pecans and dried cherries is DELICIOUS, and has inspired me to try it at home. My friend Nick swears by their Figlio BLT, saying the bacon is not overly salty, and perfectly cooked for being super thick. I have had their pizzas, which are ovenfired and delicious, and their Steak sandwich, which was a little tough, but delicious nonetheless.
Figlio's should DEFINITELY be checked out for happy hour - with only a $2 committment all around, why not. You'll probably find you love it, and add it to your repertoire of great places to eat in the Twin Cities!
