My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant this evening, and it was a truly sublime experience. I just signed up for citysearch just so I could post thi...

Too many shortcuts are taken at Farm - a place that was recommended to me for its seasonal, local ingredients focus. Well that's all fine and good but if a kitchen can't perform u...

my fave for dinner --& now brunch, too! 5/16/2004

I've visited The Farm about a dozen or more times in the last year and have never been disppointed except for the time that the wait for a table was so long that we had to give up after an hour. I've never had a problem with the service, or lack thereof, as many of these other reviewers describe. Even if I did I'd still go back on a regular basis for some of my favorites like the Oregon cheese ball. herb crusted tofu and sunken chocolate souffle. Be sure to visit for weekend brunch, too -- it's a crying shame that they don't have a line out the door every Sunday morning. Pros: inexpensive, no wait for brunch, fresh & creative food more

Local seasonal food 12/31/2003

The warm herb-encrusted goat cheese salad is excellent, and a terrific deal at $8. The portions are generous and the wine list is very lengthy. This is a great place for a date or to meet with friends. Pros: portion size, ambience, outdoor seating Cons: smaller restaurant more

A Good Time (and Ravioli) Had by All 12/25/2003

Five out of seven people I know who've been the Farm had the ravioli and liked it quite a bit. Though I haven't polled the other six on this, I also thought the waitress was friendly and the wine was great. more

Will be back for sure 10/30/2003

O.K., I'll admit the service was pretty curt, and we weren't fawned over, but the food really was wonderful! Entrees top out at $12, for which you get some really carefully prepared food made with fresh local ingredients. Our service was very fast (we came in around 5:45), and everyone was impressed by the dishes. Presentation was adequate, but the flavors are what spoke to us. Beautiful space too! Come early, eat well, and yes, the $3 house red was fine. We had the snapper special, and the tofu marasala - both wonderful!! Pros: thoughtful dishes, beautiful space, inexpensive Cons: curt service more

near perfect! 9/17/2003

The bad reviews about service must have been taken to heart. When we went in late August, the food was fresh and creative, the service was fast and extremely friendly (even when our party of 3 became a party of 5 midway through dinner), and the house wine is still just $3! Sampled dishes ranged from marinated tofu & mushrooms to homemade ravioli... and the chocolate souffle dessert was killer. more

Nice place for a leisurely dinner 7/28/2003

The reviews are right, the service isn't the quickest. Although the food and feel of the restraunt make up for it two fold. The menu is short, but all the dishes are fantastic sounding. The Oregon Cheeseball (although poorly named) is fantastic. The place is small and cozy. If you are looking for a leisurely dinner with a nice feel and great local cuisine. Give this place a try. Pros: food, value more

Great! 7/16/2003

If the service was slow, then that just added to the pleasure of the meal. We got to sip our wine and talk out on the deck during perfect summer weather. The interior is tastefully decorated with many loyal customer's. The food tasted great, and fresh, and the house wine was suberb. Thanks for the great experience! Pros: Wine, Seating options, Great vege options Cons: More food variety more

SLOW MOTION 7/15/2003

I'll say it again: SLOW MOTION. If you have 2.5 to 3 hours for dinner, everything else will be in order. Good food, decent wine at decent prices, and sophisticated atmosphere. Full bar is coming soon, we were told. The wait staff is very pleasant; unfortunately, it doesn't make up for the slow service. A customer could leave inebriated after drinking to fill in the gaps between food being served. The restaurant is fairly new, the slow service will surely be fixed in short time. I will return, as it is a very good restaurant in every other way. Pros: Good atmosphere, parking, good prices Cons: Slow service, uncomfortable chairs, no air-conditioning more

Slooooooow Motion! 7/10/2003

I read a review of this place and wanted to try it, but we had to be somewhere in an hour--seemed like it should be enough time, but no. It wasn't. The service was friendly when we offered any, but it took about 30 minutes of sitting with empty plates in front of us (and me now wishing we had time for dessert since the portions were so small and I was still hungry) and servers walking by us every couple minutes but avoiding eye contact, until we could get someone to get our waitress over to bring the check. She actually walked over and said she was sorry for forgetting about us (for an hour). The food was OK, nothing special and far over-priced for the small portions. This was a Wednesday night--I'd hate to see the place on a Friday or Saturday at dinner time. Pros: Outside Seating, Neat Atmosphere Cons: Bad Service, Overpriced, Small Portions more

bland and slow 7/7/2003

our service was tortoise-like slow---it took 10-15 minutes before anyone said 'boo' in our direction. we ordered soup, salad and a veg burger and we had to ask after 15 minutes if the soup was easily served and it took another 10 minutes to get it to us. Everything, hands down, was BLAND. more

FANTASTIC! 7/7/2003

I've been to The Farm twice now, and both visits have been wonderful. First off, the food is plentiful, tasty and inexpensive. Order a dinner salad and you'll get a huge mound of organic baby greens, not lettuce out of a bag- for 4 bucks. Everything we had was wonderful, from a big plate of fettucine and mushrooms to the halibut and salmon- the cheeseball is amazing! Service was wonderful- our server (I wish I had gotten his name) was charming and funny and great, both times. Just GO. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about it. Pros: great food, excellent value, staff and ambience Cons: no hard liquor more
