I don't recommend them. Terrible customer service, they don't call when they say they will (even after leaving numerous messages at their office for one of the supervisors, ""Rick,"" to call), they don't come out when they say they will (nor call to inform us), and their on-site technician was very unfriendly and tense. Any service we need for heating and cooling will happily be sought elsewhere. more

Family Heating/Cooling/Electrical is absolutely the best company to deal with! We have used them for years, and after 26 years, it was time for a new 95% efficient furnace. They did a fantastic job, installed our new furnace, said our central air unit was still in good shape, came on time, cleaned perfect after, gave clear/concise directions on how to work and maintain everything, AND was even thoughtful enough to close gate each time they used it - just in case I forgot and let my dog out. more

they are not worth the cheap prices, you get what you pay for!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will never use them again nor will any of my friends and family. they are like family, the ones that i don't invite over for holidays and special occasions. as for mary b., they must have been sitting around with nothing to do because they were never that prompt in servicing anything at my house. more

Why make an appointment for the morning if you cannot keep it? Will not use this company again for any service, my time is too valuable to wait around until they are ready for an estimate. more

Request for bid 10/7/2011

I called Family because I had heard great things about them. When I called, I was told I would have to wait two weeks for someone to give me a quote. I decided to wait the two weeks and then was told the sales person would be out between 9 & 12 on Oct 7. Strike one! Tell me their time is more important than mine. On October 7th, I get a call at 11:30 telling me the sales rep will be 15 minutes late....12:15. At 12 :10 I get a call telling me it will be 12:30. Rep shows at 12:50 and I sent him on his way. Maybe he can hit the 3 hour window for his next call. Imagine, if you have to wait 3 hours for a quote, how long for service? more

supposed to treat you like family! 3/14/2011

I called around 10am to have someone come out and look at my furnace because it wasn't working. I spoke with a woman who was nice enough and said someone would be out as soon as possible. Before I hung up I told the woman ""oh yeah, I am a renter and my landlord will be taking care of the bill and"" this is where she cut me off and said in a very rude voice ""Then your landlord needs to call this in, we don't take calls from TENANTS!"" I was trying to explain to her that my landlord is great and would call and give his credit card information for payment but I could never get it out of my mouth because she kept aggressively cutting me off and telling me that she won't take calls from TENANTS. Apparently if you rent that makes you a piece of crap in that FAMILY. I calmly told the woman ""You know, you are being extremely rude."" She promptly hung up on me. I called back and a different woman answered the phone (I could tell by the voice), I asked for the name of the person I previously spoke to. I was put on hold, the original woman answered and blamed the entire conversation on a different woman! Unbelievable! So, if you rent its a good idea to find a different FAMILY to fix your furnace. I need a new furnace but FAMILY heating and cooling won't be getting my business, I would rather spend the rest of my winter in front of a space heater! Very unsatisfied in Livonia more

New Homeowners with a fixer-upper 1/8/2011

Haven't had them install our new furnace yet, but they have beat everyone elses estimates, and cut through all the B.S. and hog wash sale people dish out. He gave me an honest estimate and said I could pick any furnace I wanted (he recommended comfort), plus thaey are coming in two days to do the install !!! That is some service! I will add to this after monday. more

Great Service again and again 7/9/2010

We had Family Heating and Cooling install a Space Pak central air system in our house a few years ago. The service they provided was wonderful, the guys were very polite and clean. We recently had our air go out during the hot/humid spell. I called them first thing in the morning and they told me that they were very busy and that they could have someone come over the next day to fix it. I am pregnant and on bed rest, and my husband was concerned about me being in the house with the heat and humidity. He called to tell them and see if there was anything they could do. They said they couldn't - they would come the next day. But, two hours later, they called me and said that they were trying to rework their schedule so they could help me out and they did! They sent someone that afternoon. He was very nice and friendly, quickly found the issue and fixed it. We have recommended them to our friends and will continue to - they know what service means! rekless idiots 6/25/2010

This may be an isolated incident, but I doubt it. I made a right turn on a yellow forcing the ""family"" van to make a left turn on a red. The driver followed me to my destination, pulled into the parking lot behind me, got out of his van and threatened to kick my %&#. Then he told told me to go f-myself. For someone driving a van with the company's name plastered all over it to behave in this fashion is the height of idiocy. Cons: rude drivers and rude person who answers emails. more

Nice for promptness, bad for clean up 12/5/2007

I called at 7 and by 8 someone called. Great Start.. Of course I am a diy so I tried to work on my furnace all by myself which I shouldn't. Anyways put all new parts on still didn't work. He replaced all new with the old to trouble shoot the system no problem. All the old system parts started the furnace up we have heat and then he left for another call. The heat went off again and during a conversation a mention was made that sometimes the furnace shuts down when water isn't draining. So being the diy I unhooked the hose and the furnace ran for 1 hour plus. Called Family back same tech came out we unplugged the pvc pipe to the pump and the furnace ran. The tech seemed mad but didn't make mention of it. The tech left without covers put on, the filter not put back and just left without finishing the work. I understand we shouldn't fix and leave it for techs but after things happen they should cop an attitude. Pros: Nice for promptness Cons: the tech didn't finish the job more

Best Service, Very Friendly and Prompt 6/8/2007

Last night my central air conditioning went out, and of course it was a hot an muggy night. The first thing this morning at 7 am I called Family Heating Cooling & Elect to get service and they told me the technician would call me between 8 and 8:30 am. The technician called around 8 and said he would be there between 9 and 11 am. While I was at work he arrived at my house, with my wife around 9:15 and completed the job by 9:45. The neat thing is he only repaired what needed to be repaired and did not suggest anything else. I wished more service companies were the same. I have called them a couple other times in the past and they have never failed to give the same service. I highly recommend them for anyones heating and cooling needs. Pros: They do what they say they are going to do Cons: Absolutely none. more

I saw a report on the news that this company, Family H&C, repaired a furnace for a big family that didn't have the money to fix it. I was so impressed, they are like angels! For this, I hope they get lots of business this year! more

Awesome.....totally awesome. Ricky was the best ever 10/17/2006

I had some problems with my furnace so I looked up some companys on citysearch here and found this place called Family Heating and Cooling. I called em up and sure enough they were out the next day. THE NEXT DAY! unbelievable service. They sent this whiz kid out named Ricky. I tell ya what, he got in that furnace, tightened up some nuts and bolts, banged a few nails here and there and next thing ya know, the heat was back on. My furnace is pretty ancient but Ricky said there was no need to replace it. He just told me to keep on calling the ole' family H/C up whenever I needed something. After he finished, we even played a game of ghost recon 2 on Xbox. He's amazing at that too. What a guy! Pros: RICKY RICKY RICKY....What more can I say Cons: NOTHING more

Number One furnance company 9/29/2006

In March 2006, I had an old gravity furnace system replaced with a new efficient forced air model in a foreclosed property that I bought. I was very leary about paying in full before the city could give it the final inspection and approval, but I couldn't find anything negative about this company so I hired them because they were several hundered dollars cheaper than their competitors and had been in business for over thirty years. great company 10/20/2005

I had 3 othe companys give me estamates on having central air installd. Family H&C came in at $700 less than everyone else. They were on time and did the job as promised. I will always call Family H&C for all of my heeting/cooling and electrical needs. Pros: price, on time, job done right Cons: none, none, none more

I had 2 other companies come out charge me for doing nothing.Had Family come out and had my furnace up and running in no time.I trust these guys they installed furnace in 93 and soon need a new one and Family is who I will call. Pros: fast, complete, trusting Cons: nothing, Nada, oh please more
