Worst

So I went to Fada last night for a friend's birthday celebration (and by celebration I mean there were only 4 of us) but we went there to try the Bouillabaisse which as some of yo...

This place wont be here in two years... Foul creatures with four legs everywhere!!! 1/7/2008

Never have i been so disgusted with a restaraunt. I went in for brunch with my fiance and her family and upon taking my first drink of water I noticed a crunch... Low and behold, a live insect is in my mouth... Of course it was a ROOCH.... This place should be closed down ASAP. Looks like the place hasn't been cleaned in years...Good service will not keep me coming back...Glad there are other French places to try in the neighborhood. Pros: Overpriced food..... Cons: filthiest dirtiest place ive dined in NYC...thats saying alot more

Overall, Great Food, average service, avoid on very busy nights, skip the Bar. 1/1/2008

We liked this place, so we went there for New Years Eve at $75 Price fixed. We were seated right away. We started the meal with no napkins, and with tea spoons for the soup. The soup was weak in flavor, the main courses and deserts were great. Our Waitress promptly handled any problem, and was very attentive and friendly. We went out happy and smoked outside, when I realized I forgot something inside. I run in with my lighted cigarette to pick it up, and had an agitated barman running after me telling me rather laud that there is no smoking in the restaurant. He was right of course, but I thought he was a bit rude for New Years Eve. He could have offered to bring my stuff out, or take my cigarette. It was average for New Years Eve dinner and price, but for regular night out, they have good food and average service. Pros: Overall Good Food and value, Average service, except on very busy nights. Cons: Rude barman more

excellent food and service 8/24/2007

This restaurant looks nice on the outside and inside. This is a place where you look around & everyone is happy to be there. The food is excellent, the wine list is varied with many decent bottles in the $30 range, the decor is relaxed and warm and I think you?d be hard pressed to find a better run restaurant in Brooklyn. Pros: great food, great service, great experience more

Don't order the tuna! 7/6/2007

Our first time in Williamsburg. We took our niece who was visiting from abroad to discover Williamsburg with us. Since we didn't have any idea where to go and have dinner, I did some research on this site and others and decided to go to Fada. The garden was relaxing. Only thing was there were some cigarette butts in the planters that were disgusting to look at, especially when you're eating. We had wine, appetizers and I ordered rare grilled tuna for a main course. It came well done. They sure know how to ruin tuna. The service was okay, the waiter kept checking on us until the tuna came. He must have known there was something wrong coz he never came back to ask how the food was. Instead of making a big fuss, I decided to just eat it. One thing for sure is we won't be back and won't recommend it to anyone. Quite a disappointment after all the good reviews. Pros: Ambience, parking Cons: Don't order the tuna! more

horrible experience 7/1/2007

I wanted to find a really nice place to go for brunch today, even ventured on the shuttle bus to get there, I even read all the reviews on this site so that I knew what i was getting into, but apparently I am the only person that had a horrible experience at Fada. I have been to France and I felt no real authenticity there. The waitress took forever to give us menus then screwed up our drink order. My friend said iced coffee and i clearly stated hot normal coffee, exactly in fact. she brought two iced coffee and never brought milk or sugar for my friend. The food came out really quickly, but was really surprised by how cold it was! Egg's Benedict does not taste good cold! The potatoes were over seasoned and cold. The greens which someone called amazing would have too much dressing in one bite and be incredibly bland in the next. I asked for more coffee and never got it until I asked another server to get it. Through all of this I was perfectly nice, I work in the service industry, I understand bad days, but I caught the waitress rolling her eyes at me! I will never go back and would never reccomend this place to anyone! Pros: The outside was pretty Cons: Everything else more

The best in NY 6/26/2007

This is by far my favorite restaurant in New York. Must try the Mussels Du Jour, my favorite on the menu and can be a great app or entree. I've never had a bad meal here. The ravioli are to die for as well as the sea bass when they have it on the menu. The menu changes daily so you can always come back and try something new. And don't forget desert! The warm chocolate cake will melt in your mouth! Pros: Food, Service, Ambience, Everything! Cons: No Cons more

Great french Brunch 4/22/2007

I came here on a Sunday afternoon and had a really nice brunch w/ my family. The food is a good value ($10.95 for an entree w/ OJ + tea/coffee or you can order a single item w/out the drinks included) and the service is friendly. They also have a small garden area out back which is a nice perk now that the weather is good. Pros: what my party ate + enjoyed: quiche, chicken crepe, poached eggs & salmon Cons: this is barely a con but: mixed + matched silverware, which i think is cute, but some people might not like more

Loved this place! 12/28/2006

Went here for my birthday and had a great time and a great meal. It was very cozy and rustic. I had the fish special which was 2 different fishes in a lobster broth...soooooo good. The fries were done perfectly. My boyfriend had the grouper which he loved. We will definitely be back. more

Great French bistro in Williamsburg 8/14/2006

Coming from the city, I didn't expect to find such a quaint french bistro in Willaimsburg. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service. Would most certainly go back. Pros: Food, service, prompt seating Cons: Air conditioner was not cold enough for the hot summer days more

Love at first bite! 5/25/2006

We went to this place and fell in love at first bite. Good wine, good appetizers! If you go try the Calamaris. They are one of a kind! Will make it a regular spot. more

nice and good 5/1/2006

I really like this cute little french bistro so much it's become and addiction. I eat there when ever I'm in Williamsburg - which is often. I love the Salad Nicoise it's the best around. I haven't been there for brunch yet but, I am looking forward to doing that now that the weather is getting better. The staff is nice and inviting - not overly friendly, but efficient and up to the task. Pros: garden, food, live music more

cool place for sidewalk brunch 3/29/2006

been here twice for Brunch and had a good time. Most brunch items are good. Pros: not rushed, outside seating, garden more

cozy & delightful 2/25/2006

I was searching for good restaurants at my boyfriend s neighbourhood, I wanted to stay in wiliamsburg area and still be romantic &have good food. no rush to city! as soon as we entered, we felt like home. suprising enough we found a table right away on a saturday night, enjoyed the live jazz music. the crowd was sophisticated. I loved the onion soup, and my boyfriend was digging the lamb shank. although I m a vegeterian, I could enjoy their veggie selection for a change! this is the killing part, please please try their warm chocolate cake if you have chocolate cravings like I do...maaan, it is crazy! I wasn't the first among my friends who tried fada, they told me to go there for brunch at their enclosed back garden, which is supposed to be very good. I will definetely go back again. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! Pros: not too expensive, cozy, delicious food Cons: not in manhattan more

Not Really a Big Deal 1/27/2006

The ambience was nothing of the mind-blowing sort, because I didn't really get a good sense of it (usually one senses the ambience of a place, good or bad, upon walking in). The service was abominable -- perhaps we walked in during the last hour of our overworked server's long shift, or she knew something about my date that I didn't (it was my first time there). The food was absolutely nothing to rave about: I'm a big ratatouile fan, but what they served was hardly close to delicious. The blueberry cheesecake was commendable for effort, but again I've had plenty better. I expected a lot more for the price we ended up paying. The only plus was the outdoor seating in the small backyard, but that's always a plus anywhere you go. Pros: Found Seats Easily, Outdoor seating Cons: Service, Food, Expensive w/o reason more

excellent night out 12/2/2005

live jazz... gorgeous specials and diverse menu... we got there at 9pm and had no problem getting a table in a great part of the room. the waiter was attentive and exlained items we weren't familiar with suitably. our wine was kinda crap, but besides that, the room was warm and friendly. sensational steak tartar and fresh fish. more

Hits the mark 5/18/2005

I have been there three times and I have never been disappointed. The experience is just what you could expect from a friendly neighborhood bistro. It has a cute garden too. more

Best Brunch Ever 11/4/2004

I stoped here on a Sunday in October for brunch and ordered the 'Oeufs Fada', not expecting much. I was blown away - can't recommed it too much. Dinner seems a little pricy, but the prixe fix brunch can't be beat. Pros: Food, Location, Lunch price more

Gotta love the French 10/7/2004

The food is quite good here, but the service leaves something to be desired. We went a few times last spring and one of us always ordered the salmon- delicious- but they changed the menu and nothing else was so great that we had to keep going back. I tried the steamed fish once and could barely choke it down. They try too hard with the mussels du jour- it might be better to have classic mussels in white wine/lemon/garlic sauce. I had that once after pleading with the waitress, who was so afraid to ask the chef you'd think she was asking him to sell his firstborn down the river- not a good sign. It was very good but for some reason we just don't go to this place a lot- something about it is not friendly. Pros: Reliable bistro fare more

good 10/1/2003

i'm so glad someone has finally opened a restaurant in this space and a stylish one that isn't asian! fada is a welcome addition to williamsburg - just what the hood needed. the food was great but the kitchen was sending out a faint smell of burnt oil and slowly smoking up the dining room, this can/must be fixed. also the waitstaff could be dressed up a bit, sweats and a bandanna don't cut it for a french bistro especially when you're dropping $75/for two. even jeans and a T wud be better. i would definately recommend it to anyone who lives nearby and likes french bistro's. more

gotten it together 7/24/2003

I agree with the editorial review - when Fada first opened, it was dissapointing. The food wasnt that great and the service blew. But they really have seemed to get it together (maybe they read the review?) - the food is great and the service is much quicker and pleasant. They've also opened up the back patio - its fantastic on a warm summer night. I say give it a second chance if you are in the neighborhood. Pros: inexpensive, back patio more
