Excellent is right. The dumplings are great and the prices are rock bottom. A great place to come off the streets for a quick bit and some hot soup. more

Drove an hour for very average americanized chinese food 9/12/2010

So I read the reviews on this site about excellent dumpling house. The food was nothing special. Mediocre at best. We ordered pork dumplings, veg dumplings, chicken soup dumplings. We ordered broccoli , They didn't even serve chinese broccoli. Strange. So if your into finding an inexpensive authentic culinary experience in NYC's chinatown, I would look elsewhere. more

Great Food at a Great Price 5/7/2010

Steamed dumpling...they got 'em here...delicious and cheap. A must for a hearty and cheap lunch. Good delivery service too! more

solid food 12/21/2009

the main attractions at this place, as the name implies, are the dumplings. the entrees are solid but play second fiddle. order: pork dumplings (steamed or fried), scallion pancakes, cold noodles, wontons in peanut sauce, roast pork buns (best in ny) and the hot and sour soup! can't go wrong with those. service can be a little rough around the edges but come on, it's a dumpling joint. give them a break. more

Very Good Food for a Great Price 8/6/2009

The food is delicious and the dumplings even better! Great value for the quality of food that you get. Sometimes you might be seated w/ strangers but you don't really mind when you taste the yummy food! more

inexpensive, authentic, good time 6/16/2009

The Excellent Dumpling House is worth it just to say you've been there...enjoyable food, friend waitstaff, and you are treated well. This is a great place to stop by for lunch as you are perusing Chinatown's famed goods market. Recommended! Pros: authentic food, right in the center of chinatown more

Every time I come to New York, this place is a MUST. I don't care what the weather is like, I will make the trek down to Chinatown for their seafood dumplings. Pros: Fresh, Delicious, Inexpensive Cons: Often cramped for space, Slightly dingy more

My favorite Chinese place in the city 1/22/2009

The food is awesome, I'm a fan of the vegetable dumplings. The only real complaint I've seen about the place is about the service. I wait tables in a service oriented restaurant uptown and yes, it is off-setting at first to have them come up, expect to take your order after 30 seconds at the table, throwing down food, and dropping off the check as soon as the foods hits, but it's also a bit refreshing and sincere. In exchange there are not expectations of etiquette from the diners. You don't have to put your napkin in your lap, eat slowly, or hesitate from just grabbing one of the servers when you need something. I love it and highly recommend it. Pros: Cheap, quick, good food Cons: It's a place to eat, not to catch up with an old friend more

Tastiest chinese food I've had yet. 11/11/2008

I went during lunch while in the area and it was packed with people. They sat me beside a whole bunch of other lunch-goers who seemed to be happily conversing with each other. Everyone was in a really good mood, and the food was delicious. The staff is always very busy and one woman sitting at our table had to wait a while for her food, but the food was delicious and well priced. The only thing I would watch for is to make sure they bill you for the right amount as they charged me for both my plate and the woman sitting next to me as well. I guess we were talking so much they thought we were together. more

I love my dumplings 1/16/2007

I love their fried pork dumplings, man, those things are awesome. I've had some other entrees here and I think that they're probably just as good as any other chinese restaurant in the area but the dumplings force me to go to this place. The waiters aren't all that friendly and they just plop down your bill right as you're starting to eat which I think is kinda weird. more
