Best

The place has been around since I firs lived in NY, always liked it and now with some to me new items on the menu is a hit once again!

Worst

Nice setting, great server, yummy desserts. The problem was the entree -- the pork chop was incredibly dry and tough. Definitely take a pass on this one and choose something els...

Tasty...Love the atmosphere 3/30/2007

Am a regular here now so this review may seem impartial. Great menu especially when they have the cockles. Great music and looking forward to the warm weather so I can sit around the bar and sample their spanish wine selection. Pros: will feel welcomed more

Best paella ever 3/29/2007

Haven't ever been here on a weekend, but I went for dinner on a weeknight. It wasn't too crowded or too noisy. Really nice atmosphere for a night out with friends. The food was actually very good, but paella was the best I ever had,and the service was ok. Pros: Paella,Ambience more

Might be ok with 50 people but... 3/16/2007

..my experience was different. I felt it was overpriced and they under delivered. Went there with some friends from work and wasn?t impressed with the food. Seems like it would be a good place for apps and some wine with your girl more so than a place to get a great Spanish meal. I think that would be a great place for 50 people, but there were more than that when we went and it was a bit tight. Pros: Nice place to look at Cons: Ok food, small quarters more

Thank you Euzkadi 3/13/2007

We booked this restaurant for my parents anniversary and invited 50 people. more

good service, great music, food ok 3/12/2007

service was very attentive and kind, maybe they read the past reviews and realized it's time to extend themselves. the food was just ok, the goat cheese and honey was super tasty, the empanadas were fried which was a distraction from the filling. the duck meatballs were unmemorable but worth trying as they were tender but swimming in a thin tomato sauce, the spinach with raisins, pine nuts and chick peas was tasty as was the red sangria. overall, i will return to try other dishes. Pros: atmosphere, service Cons: soggy empanadas more

Busy bodies... 3/11/2007

I?ve been to Spain many times and the people there are so warm and inviting. Not so much at this place; the host was a bit rude and the service was not that great. (I should have read some of the other comments before going) They were packed and perhaps understaffed? The food was ok I guess but I was distracted by all the activity and commotion, we just couldn?t relax and get into the wonderful decor. Might give it a try when it?s slower. Pros: Nice decor Cons: Small, crowded, loud at times more

Make sure you don't leave a message on the machine! 3/5/2007

Wow, I?ve never had my reservation confirmed so many times then lost. I made a reservation on Friday, they called and left a message the next day asking me to call back and confirm my reservation. I returned the call and left a message on their machine, they called AGAIN to confirm saying they had not heard from me, I returned the call within 3 minutes and they told me that they gave away my reservation. The rude person on the phone from the restaurant was on a total ?I?m a male restaurant hostess? power trip. I feel that the owners most likely had some friends come in and my reservation slipped through the cracks. No big deal, I?ve eaten there before and their Uncle Ben?s style paella is nothing worth paying 36 bucks for. It was just a local place we use to go to but not anymore. Pros: close to my house Cons: Can't figure out what a reservation is or how to keep local customers. more

I`ll be back 3/5/2007

We stopped in for a drink at the bar and liked the ambiance so much that we ordered bunch of tapas.I would definitely recommend the one with mushrooms, serano ham and aoli spread(sorry if I misspelled) and the other with shrimp stuffed with goat cheese and wrapped in serano (yes I know I'm crazy about serano ham ).All in all, wonderful restaurant and great and inexpensive food. more

Average food, moody waiter. 3/4/2007

Just wanted to go out and eat somewhere comfortable in NY. Wasn?t looking for a ""hot spot"" or anything so I gave this place a try. The food was at best average and one dish was cold so we sent it back. At the point the waiter got a bit moody and was not too helpful the remainder of the evening. Overall disappointed given the other reviews I've read. But hey, I?m sure the Taco Bell in Chelsea also got good reviews at one point. Pros: Nice Ambience Cons: Average food, moody staff. more

Satisfied my Spanish food craving 3/3/2007

I was in the mood for Paella one Saturday night and found a listing for this place. It didn't disappoint. It's a cozy place so it's not for larger parties. Most tapas on the menu serve two pieces so ideally it's more for parties of 2 or 4 I feel. I went with two other friends and we ordered the cheese plate. I love cheese and this plate included manchego, a blue cheese, and at least two other types. I couldn't remember. But the serving was generous. Chorizo al jeres was delicious also enough to share between 2 or 3 people. We also ordered the Burgos Pinxtros which was a perfect combination of the ingredients. The only thing that we ordered that wasn't great was the Paquetitos de jamon. It was too salty since it says ravioli, but we wrongly assumed pasta. As it was written, it's ham stuffed with the creamy truffle and puree. It was just too much for us. All in all it was a great meal. The kitchen serves up the dishes quick timely and the waiter brings it to the table right away. But since it's a small place, there is only one or two people tending all the tables, so not much attentiveness other than the necessary. Although I do give it to them for keeping our water glasses full. I would definitely come back with friends. I really enjoyed my meal. Pros: chorizo, paella, pintxos Cons: a bit too cozy for more than 4 people more

Great Prix-fixe 12/2/2006

Went there on Monday night, it was early so the place was almost empty and I don?t like crowded places and if you go out to eat early you usually get better table and more attention, not to mention early bird special and we all like good deals, I guess. Anyway me and my date had a prix fixe including goat cheese and tuna enpanadillas, mushrooms and Serrano ham pintxos as an appetizer, salmon and red snapper as a main course and flan & Basque cake for dessert. All together with two glasses of sangria great value for your money. more

Flavorful food, nice environment 11/7/2006

When we were there, there weren't many guests there so there was a lot of room between us, however, the tables are really close together. Really close, like 2 inches at most, so it could get really tight when they are busy. more

Great Tapas, Authentic Sangria, Perfect Prices 10/29/2006

The venue is small but totally cozy, especially on a chilly winter night. The vibe is very relaxed back but still very warm and trendy. The croquetta's are the best I have ever had (and I have had many in a lot of places) and their chorizo and selection of meats are top-notch. We came in with hearty appetites (2 of us) and with 5 tapas and 5 drinks between us, we left with a full tummy and wallet--100.00 for everything. Not bad. We didn't make reservations and had a little wait. The bar is small so call ahead. Also, they only serve champagne cocktails, beer, wine and Sangria. Perfect for a date or to take a good friend. Pros: Great food, great ambiance, good value Cons: Very small, no liquor selection more

Good Tapas and live Flamenco 10/11/2006

I searched for a tapas restaurant down town and found Euzkadi on city search. I am an expert in Basque cusine, and was pleased to find splendid authenticity in every dish offered at Euzkadi. I made a reservation in advance on a Tuesday night, as recommended by City Search. It wash a good thing we did, as there was a live Flamenco band and the place was packed.. We were seated at a great round table in the back of the restaurant, with unrestricted views of the bar and front dinning area. We tried all of the usual suspects that other reviews recommended, such as chirozo, goat cheese with honey, serrano ravioli, and bravas. I was in impressed with each dish...and can still feel the flavors in my mouth. more

most authentic 8/17/2006

My friends and I stumbled upon this place by accident. It seemed like a popular spot. We stepped inside to check it out. It reminded me of the month I spent in Spain last year. We ordered a variety of tapas from the menu, and we were impressed. The music was great. I felt like I was a regular. It was the complete East Village experience. I highly recommend it. Pros: fun and authentic more

Worst attitude ever 8/14/2006

Made a reservation for 6 and arrived on time. We were shown to our table which was the size of a postage stamp and possibly could seat 3. When we said we didn't want to sit there the host/owner threw serious attitude as if we had the problem. We agreed to wait 20 minutes as he insisted the 4 girls sitting at a 6 top were finishing up. While we were waiting he decided to comment how I was the only person who ever complained about that table for 6. If this is where they constantly seat 6 tops never go with more than 2. I told him I highly doubted that and he stared me down as though he wanted to strike me despite the fact that I am a girl. He then told me perhaps I should do his job...such attitude. After waiting 30 minutes and spending our money on sangria in this undeserved spot, we walked out. There are so many other great tapas places and noone should be treated like that because they have no desire to dine like sardines. Cons: Rude staff more

Mas O Menos Tapas 7/5/2006

The place is small but not terribly bad. Service is seriously shotty at times and the prices of the Tapas are solid but not fantastic. Speaking of the tapas themselves, they're decent but at times I've noticed that the portions are limited. There are better places out there but this place can stand on its own feet, just with tippy toes. Pros: Tapas, Service Cons: Small Tables, Bathrooms more

Great find! 3/27/2006

A few girlfriends and I stopped here on a Friday night for some tapas and sangria at the bar. The ambience is very warm and cozy inside; perfect for a mellow evening out. We let our bartender order for us and everything was wonderful. Definitely try the goat cheese with honey! yum! We were only going to stay for a few hours but ended closing the bar down (thanks to the constantly flowing drinks from the bartender)! Definitely an enjoyable night and hope to come again soon. Pros: Ambience, Friendliness of staff more

User review by ryrax 3/24/2006

I chatted to the friendly barman; I drank sangria; I met a cute girl at the bar--what else can a man ask for in life?!? Highly recommended for a warm, relaxed atmosphere. more

Can't recommend it enough! 3/5/2006

I love Euzkadi! You can go in and have a quick tapas and beer at the bar or go with a group and make a night of it. The atmosphere is as amazing as the food. Probably the only NYC restaurant I could recommend to just about anybody and know they won't be dissapointed. Pros: accomodating host Cons: can get very busy. more
