A bunch of us split appetizers while we had a few cocktails before we went out. For food I'd suggest the mussels and gnocchi. For drinks I'd go with a Manhattan, but The bartenders here are pretty on point so you could ask them to make you something based on the kind of drinks you like and they will make you something awesome. more

went for dinner and drinks with friends. i wasn't drinking, but everyone else liked their drinks. my fiance and i both ordered the seared prime rib. hers was ridiculously fatty...to the point where she couldn't get to the steak. it was unappetizing to say the least. she sent it back with the waitress, who first tried to ""teach"" us that it's a fatty cut of meat. granted-but mine wasn't nearly as fatty. she took it to the chef who offered to carve it...my fiance declined stating she had lost her appetite. a fifteen minute conversation/argument ensued with the waitress pressing us to take the carved steak. after we ultimately declined and returned to our edible dinners and drinks another staff member brought us the carved steak in a to go bag stating they just didn't want it to go to waste. annoying as this was, it would have been somewhat appropriate if it was an apologetic measure. turns out they just wanted to justify CHARGING us for the steak. when we protested yet again, the chef stormed to the table, snatched the bag and exclaimed ""I'll eat it!"" Finally we got the manager to remove the charge...and exited with another argument with the waitress. 100% unacceptable...and stupid when you consider we were spending $500 and the steak was $39. This weekend I threw my friend a bachelorette party and we decided to have dinner at Employees Only. I was allowed to decorate the table (with inappropriately shaped confetti, natch) and the servers kept coming up to the table and admiring the gifts. They seemed as excited about the party as we were! They were kind and accommodating throughout the meal. Speaking of the meal, it was delicious, and complemented well by the yummy cocktails. They were a bit pricy, I'm not going to lie, and we all ended up spending more than we wanted to, but I think it was worth it for the special time we had. I almost forgot, they have a psychic who does palm and tarot readings... she was so, so, but it was a fun treat anyway. Great spot for bachelorette parties! This bar sells itself as an after work hangout, but acts like some pretentious meatpacker club. The door staff is incredibly rude, and the service inside is positively wretched. That photo above shows the ENTIRE bar. It is VERY small and extremely crowded. Crowded full of pretentious d-bags. And it's overpriced. Not impressed, rude bouncer and if you are a bit drunk then you'll get charged for somethings that you didn't even ordered, hopping you are too drunk to realize. I've been to this place many times at the beginning when they were more down to earth and it was nice back then, but now the different is colossal. I don't appreciate my friend being mistreated, even when I am the one expending over $1000 in drinks. I don't care about money as long as the service food, and drink are in accordance with what I am spending. Don't be impressed by their stars since they got then back when they were good, back in 2007, but if you check now how many stars they've gotten in 2008, you'll see the difference. I went for a friends birthday here a couple of weeks ago...the host, wait staff, bartenders and door men could not have been more friendly! After having one of the best drinks I have ever had, we sat down for dinner which was nothing short of perfect! The service was fantastic, the atmosphere had a great vibe and everything was just wonderful! I highly recommend this place, they certainly deserve 5 stars, everything was so great...I will be back again soon!!!! I recommend the mushroom nocchi for an app, the organic chicken was to die for as an entree and do not skip dessert...the chocolate cheescake is completely sinful! Can't wiat to get back there...only negative was the tarot card reader was awful, but atleast she was friendly! Had my birthday here and they treated me and my guests perfectly. \r Even though half of my party arrived late they still let all of us order from the brunch menu. \r The drinks are extremely tasty and different. \r And the atmosphere is perfect!!! Love their fire place and the little back area that they have, its great. Oh and the food was cooked to perfection we left there full and feeling good. \r Oh and I had my cards read to me by the fortune teller they have by the door, she was great too bad I forgot her name!!! I've lived in the neighborhood for four years and Employees Only has turned from a fun, no-attitude place with good drinks to a snobfest hang-out for power-tripping bouncers. \r \r ALTERNATIVES to Employees Only (walking distance)...\r \r - White Horse Tavern (Hudson and 11st St) - fun no frills bar with good beers on tap, nice bouncers, and great table service. There's outside seating as well.\r \r - The Other Room (Perry and Washington St) - wine and beer only. Really good, reasonably priced wine. Awesome knowledgable bartenders, cool atmosphere, cozy and cute.\r \r - Art bar (8th Ave at Jane St) - really cool atmosphere with cushions, lush couches, and pillows. great service, nice people\r \r Went there on Friday at 9:30p. It was early, so the place was pretty empty. After ordering a drink with friends, more friends called me and were lost, so I went outside to meet them. They were standing right in front of the entrance. The ONLY appeal of this place are the employees. Melo (?) I think his name was! I went there with friends last Thursday night and it was pretty dissappointing. Honestly this wasn't my first time in the place and it has gotten progressively worse everytime. I am all about having a good time and getting a few cocktails, but too many people in a tight space calls for a bunch of annoyance. Someone was so wasted they dropped a drink right next to my girlfriend and she was showered with vodka and shards of glass. Then I was almosted knocked down by a really drunk couple making out and getting it on only to bump into the next very drunk couple making out and was unable reach the bar. I like the bartenders, but it is also hard to get a drink here unless you are a ""regular"" so my friends and I had to wait a long while in between drinks. In short-- too crowded, clientele is way too wasted, will wait too long for drinks, will see drunks makeout and not be able to get to the bar. Pros: Bartender Cons: Pretty much everything else more

As it's known for, they make really great cocktails here. Had dinner there on Saturday night, and the food was delicious too - I had salmon and my friend had the chicken - both were really well made. This place is really a zoo on the weekends, so I wouldn't recommend stopping by for a drink unless you can handle wall-to-wall people. I'm sticking to less crowded times - the drinks are so good, you don't want to be annoyed by getting bumped into and pushed every 30 seconds.
