The Only Place I Will Ever Take My Dog!! 6/5/2010

I've been taken my dog to Ellen's for over four years now. I drive 15 miles to take her there. She is a nervous animal & she loves going in. She doesn't get all shakey like she does everywhere else. Ellen & staff are always friendly and they feel like family. I'd highly recommend taken your four legged childern there! Pros: Always great, affordable & friendly service. more

VERY PLEASED WITH SERVICE 3/17/2010

I highly recommend Ellen's Pampered Pet Inn for both grooming and boarding. Ellen and her staff are wonderful and always sensitive to their customer's needs. Ellen has groomed our very temperamental and somewhat neurotic white miniature schnauzer (Winston) for the past four years. Ellen was indeed brave to take on this challenge since not only does our pet have behavior problems --he has extremely sensitive skin and must never be closely shaven. Prior to using Ellen, we had unpleasant experiences with other groomers who through haste or carelessness either nicked or burned his skin while razor cutting. This is NO longer a problem - Our Winston always leaves Ellen's looking VERY handsome -- without any skin irritations whatsoever. And while I cannot say that Winston Loves to go to the Groomer (he hate's riding in a car!) - he always seems to like it once we are there! more

The best pet care in town 1/28/2010

Knowledgeable, attentive owner and staff that treats their guests like family. This cozy spot in the West University area has become a weekly resource for my little terrier, Merry, and me and I cannot say how very much it helps me to know that Ellen and her staff will treat my dog just the way I do. Merry goes for doggie day care as well as a sleepover each week. You should drop by and meet Ellen and see how special this place is. Pros: It's all good Cons: No drawbacks more

Very pleased 1/28/2010

I have been boarding and grooming my dog here for several years. Ellen and her staff are GREAT. Their love of animals is evident, and their prices are very reasonable. They were very accomodating and flexible when I had a problem arriving during regular business hours. They know me there, and I know they take great care of our dog. I recommend it highly. Pros: friendly employees; convenient location; reasonable prices more

Bob loves PPI 1/25/2010

I have been taking my dog to PPI on Bissonnet in Houston for over 3 years now. Bob loves it. He comes back healthy and loves socializing with the other dogs. They do a great job bathing and grooming him. When Bob was younger, I always took him with me to visit friends out of town. Now he prefers the short ride to PPI and so do I. Pros: Friendly, reasonable, good care of my dog Cons: None that I can think of more

TICKS, TICKS, TICKS 11/24/2009

I wish I had read these reviews before now. I have been having my dog groomed at Pampered Pet Inn for 5 years, one other time I swore them off because of fleas and ticks but foolishly went back. I recently took my dog there when we had new rugs and reupholstered furniture delivered, thinking I wanted my dog cleaned and groomed on the new carpet. One week later our nightmare began, over the next 5 days we found 50+ ticks on him. This is on an indoor dog that's walked with a leash on the sidewalk. I will never step foot in the Pampered Pet Inn again. more

The Pampered Pet Inn's response to cynth111's review. 4/13/2009

To the author of this horrific injustice, How unfair of you to make such comments about a business of which you have no current knowledge. You claim that you worked for the Pampered Pet Inn in the early 1980?s. This is not the same business that it was back in then. This particular Pampered Pet Inn has been through two other business owners since Selma Leiber and definitely operates with a higher standard than what you described. Your grievance is not with this Pampered Pet Inn and any guilt you feel towards any cruelty that may have happened 30 years ago is not my fault. How dare you make these remarks towards me and my business. We have absolutely no ties to whatever kennel you are talking about that was located on Braeswood. This establishment may have been affiliated with it in the past, but is no longer. I am also pretty sure that the business of which you are referring to has been closed for the past 15 years at least. We, at the Pampered Pet Inn strive to maintain an adequate amount of staff members for the amount of animals that we care for so that we can provide a safe and comfortable stay for our guests. I am in total disbelief that someone would post such comments 30 years later without checking their facts. more

Pampered Pet Inn Is Guilty of Cruelty 3/7/2009

I used to work for Pampered Pet Inn in the 1980's and I saw pitiful conditions there. They have a tendency to overbook for the kenneling areas and stuff animals into any cage available. A pet owner might be shown a roomy kennel but then their dog might spend hours of a day in what is literally a cramped veterinary cage especially at holiday times where they make all their cash. An animal lover working in the kennels was all but brought to tears trying to make the animals comfortable and provide for their needs, with not enough employees or help. Pros: They improved after complaints Cons: The don't deserve to be in business because of past problems more

Ticks and Torture 3/1/2009

I have been using the Pampered Pet Inn for over a year now and had NO idea what was going on until now. I just found out that they leave the dogs unattended and inside for 12-13 hours every single day. They leave by 7 in the evening and do not return until 7 the next day... I am completely astonished to find out that half of every day I have been paying for my dog to be cared for, she has been left in the cage. Pros: They make you think your dog is being cared for. Cons: That they're still in business. more

Cheap, good hours, but beware of fleas 2/6/2009

I boarded my 4 year old toy dog here over the Christmas holidays. I felt very comfortable with the staff and you can't beat the rate! However, I wish they would walked my dog instead of just letting him out in yard. He also got horrible fleas...although I didn't have him on prevention meds so it is equally my fault. I also think he may have been a little overfed. Pros: Great hours and great prices. Cons: Fleas, no walks, overfed more

always a good experience 1/9/2009

Our dogs do great at Pampered Pet Inn. It is in a great location and has a friendly staff. They come home happy and healthy and I have no complaints. Thanks for taking such great care of our dogs. more

Very pleased! 10/24/2008

My family and I just moved to the Houston area about six months ago. I have a Westie named Bono and a Retriever named Miles. We have checked out a number of different places to board our animals and none of them compare to the Pampered Pet Inn's charm. We have had to go on a number of last minute trips and the staff at the Inn is very helpful with getting our boarding needs met with short notice. We picked up our pets on Sunday afternoon and they were squeaky clean with a festive bandanna around their necks! The staff even washed Bono's bed for us at no extra charge! I was very pleased. Pros: Good Prices, Flexible Scheduling, Friendly staff. Cons: Older facility, Parking can be bad during really busy hours. more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!! 10/6/2008

Never EVER take your dog here. They are careless and neglectful. Pros: They do sell good dog food and have cute leashes and collars Cons: animal neglect. Yeah, I would say thats a pretty large con... more

Never Again 7/14/2008

I have taken my dog (child) to the Pampered Pet Inn 3 times 2 times have resulted in a visit to the vet. The first incident led to my dog getting kennel cough which led to a partially collapsed trachea. This occurred even with her yearly vaccinations. I had to go out of town twice in a row very quickly and had to board her. I am new to town and did not know where else to take her. Each time she came back with ticks and fleas. She has never had an issue with fleas or ticks before. I give her a flea and tick treatment monthly and bathe her regularly, but she was still affected. So, no dog is safe. She even developed a skin irritation from the bites which forced me to make another vet appointment for tomorrow. I am sure this vet visit will cost a fortune just like the first one did. I just picked her up today and I will be stopping by to speak with the owner tomorrow. I will never return to the Pampered Pet Inn. If you love your dog like I do please do not send your pet there. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

Dont subject your dog to this place 6/24/2008

This is my first review. EVER. I usually think people who take time out of their busy lives to complain about something trivial are silly. In this case though, my puppy is not trivial. Shes part of the family. So if i can save one dog from this place it will be worth the time it took out of my day. New to Houston, I found The Pampered (yeah right) Pet Inn at Citysearch. It had a bad review already but as i said i just figured that person had a bad day or something. I should have listened. It was convenientely located and when I went to check it out it seemed harmless enough. Then I picked my baby up! First of all, she shook all the way home in the car and normally loves the car. Her fur was falling out and she is not a shedding breed (not the sign of a happy puppy). She had poo on all her paws, a rash on her chest and sticky film on her whole body. They told us we could bring in a blanket and toy but we are not sure why since it was quite obvious they did not give either to her. If this review saves one puppy from what mine went through I will be happy. I will only have to imagine what she went through because unfortunately she could not tell me herself. more

Great Groomer! 6/14/2008

I have been going to Pampered Pet Inn for about 6 months and I am so pleased. After reading the reviews on Citysearch, I decided to give them a try and I was not disappointed. They do such a fantastic job with my dog, Gigi. They are also very friendly. I highly recommend them. more

NEVER TAKE YOUR PET HERE! 5/13/2008

I never really complain too much, but this was an exception. I had left my dog a couple of nights when I had to go out of town and my experience was terrible. I had met the owner previously and yes, she is a nice lady. However, with most businesses she is not around all the time. I had set a date previously for my dog, and when I walked in two people were sitting behind the counter and after 5 minutes, standing with dog on a leash, no one said Hi, Hello, Welcome, or We'll be with you shortly... I almost walked out. Finally they took her to the back.. 2 days later, they had lost the bed I provided, my dog had ticks on her, and they told us she urinated on the bed so they threw it away.(never does she do that) they simply didn't let her out much.. Never again will I take or recommend this place to anyone who cares for their pet. Pros: Location, OK Facility Cons: No Customer Service, Clueless, Not Responsible, Terrible more

Best Dog Groomer! 5/6/2008

I give this doggy place 5 stars for the excellent grooming by Ellen! We are constantly stopped by people and complimented on our poodle's haircut! Our pooch loves to go there-and for a poodle, grooming it is an all day affair, so I know that it must be a nice environment. We've day and evening boarded and have never had any problems at all. Thanks for such a super job Ellen! more
