Best

Great food, decent margaritas, good prices

Worst

the waiter was distant, and we got the impression the entire meal that we were interrupting him. being that we weren't that hungry, and had never eaten there before, we apologize...

place is cool 7/27/2011

I've gone here for a while now and cant find bad things to say. I know you can nit pick the details of any place and hold them to you standards, but Im not like that. Good food, nice drinks, and friendly service. Try it out sometime. more

Consistantly good Mexican 5/23/2010

I've been going to El Toreador for 22 years. That should tell you that I love the place. The food is always very good and very consistant even over all these years. The service is quick and friendly. When they get busy, which happens a lot, don't expect them doting over you. This could be perceived as abruptness but they just want to get everyone else served too. The prices stay remarkably low and it's a great value. \r Combo #5 Cheese, please! Pros: Food Cons: I always eat too much more

Good size servings 8/25/2008

Good mexican food. Good size portions. Friendly environment and wait staff is quick and attentive. Enjoy! Pros: Serving Size more

Typical americanized Mexican food 8/7/2008

I'm going to have to call foul on the reviews calling this place ""authentic"". The dishes are typical Americanized Mexican food, similar to what you'd find in any chain restaurant like Azteca (giant plates of refried beans, rice and a cheese smothered main item). Very average to a little sub-average when I ate there over lunch. Service was good though. more

BEST MEXICAN FOOD on Eastside 4/7/2008

KFWard... these guys would never scam you. Ive been going here for years and not only are their staff friendly and by far the best, they are all family and love their job. My family has recommended this place since the 80's to every friend we know in the area and it's become everyone's favorite place to dine and im suprised if I dont see someone I know there. You go there once, and you will be back and become a regular, the food is addictive. They have great prices, the best mexican food on the Eastside, and the staff is excellent! Pros: Great prices, awesome menu, friendly staff, the best margaritas and a great time! Cons: Sometimes parking lot is hectic on weekends more

Worst service and a debit card scam to boot! 3/29/2008

Meanest service I've ever experienced; avoid avoid avoid. This place will also scam you as I paid with debit card and the amount they transmitted to my bank was more than the total on the slip I signed. AVOID! more

Good food, bad service 3/26/2008

The food here is good. Try some of the specialties. They can be tasty. The biggest for me issue is the long time waiter at lunch time. He's an unpleasant person. Whenever I've been in there, he's either condescendingly over-familiar, or it's like he's doing you a favor by waiting on your table. Sorry if you hate your job, dude. Go find a new one if you don't like it so much. Pros: Food Cons: Service more

Authentic Mexican 11/2/2007

We visited this restaurant for lunch. Wow! The food was deliciosio! We had queso fundido (cheese dip with chorizo) for appetizer. I had huevos rancheros and my boyfriend had taco and tamale combination. Everything was excellent! The salsa and chips are homemade. The chips are thick so they hold up to dipping. Yummm! The wait staff was attentive but not hovering. Wayne gave great service. Don't miss this gem in downtown Redmond! Muy bueno! Note: It does get busy (we noted at lunch) and we beat the rush by mere minutes. So, if you go, go early or be ready to wait - it's worth it! Pros: Excellent food and service more

The Best Mexican Food I've found in WA! 6/22/2007

I've been here a handful of times over the last few years, they remodeled in the last year or so and the interior is MUCH better looking. It's a smaller place, and there is a very small parking lot behind the restaurant, so it can be tight - but they literally have the BEST food around. I sometimes want substitues on combo dinners (like taco instead of burrito) and there is never a problem. The wait staff is always nice and accomodating. I love their chicken chimichangas, I've never had bad food here - their taste and quality is always top notch. I haven't been here for about 6 months since I moved to the South End, but I crave their food frequently!! They have great margaritas here also! It's a family friendly restaurant - and I recommend it to anyone! It can be loud at times due to it being busy EVERY time I've been there, so I recommend the bar if you want it more quiet. Pros: Excellent Food & Drink for Great Prices! Cons: parking, busy/noisy more

Another gem in Redmond 3/2/2007

Coming from California I've had my share of good Mexican food. El Toreador is a welcome surprise after going to places like Azteca. The food there is consistantly really good. I've tried a number of their items and haven't been disappointed with any and I've yet to have bad service as well. It's a fun place to go if you want to avoid the big chains and try something unique. Pros: great food, decent mararitas, wonderful service Cons: sometimes a wait on busier days more

Best Family Mexican Restaurant in the Seattle Area 10/29/2006

All of the food here is great an consistent. The chips and salsa are great and not the same old stuff that you get at other sit down Mexican restaurants. The prices here are also very cheap considering how great the food is. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Mexican food! Pros: Great Food, Reasonale Prices Cons: Not as homey since the remodel more

Best Authentic Mexican Food 10/2/2006

Mexican Food simply doesn't get any better than this. A few favorites? The pork burrito, chicken chimichanga, or any of the seafood dishes. This is one place you can count on a savory, authentic dish where no corners are cut. The staff is friendly (especially Mark), the margaritas are great and the ambience is perfect. Get there early because the great food isn't a kept secret :) Cheers! Pros: The FOOD, fast and friendly service and delicious Margaritas! more

Possibly the best Mexican in the Northwest 6/27/2005

What appeared to be a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant turns out to be better than the major Mexican food chains in the area. I grew up in Texas where Mexican food is plentiful and delicious. Since I have moved up to the Seattle area I had'nt found a mexican restaurant that could match up to the Tex-mex I loved soo much. I finally found El Toreador and am now a weekly customer. Sometimes the service is lacking but for the food, the margaritas, and the price you won't be dissapointed. Pros: Food, Margaritas, Price Cons: Service, Size more
