Great food, decent margaritas, good prices

Most of the local Mexican resturants that I've tried use the same seasoning for EVERYTHING! Not El Toreador. You can try different things and get different flavors. The service is very friendly. I'd go there any time. Even though it's kind of small, you'll see large groups of people there eating. Pros: Good food, Service more

the waiter was distant, and we got the impression the entire meal that we were interrupting him. being that we weren't that hungry, and had never eaten there before, we apologized for our ignorance and asked if there was enough food on the fajita plate for two to share. the waiter seemed generally uninterested and incapable of making a recommendation. the drinks weren't refilled quickly. we ate at 8pm on a thursday nite. but the chips were the most amazing! and the extra salsa was really useful for the fajitas. the flavors were great. we'll go back. everyone has a bad night now and again. :) Pros: very good flavors, great chips, great salsa Cons: disinterested staff, kinda dirty more

Best Mexican Food on the Eastside 8/26/2002

The food at El Toreador is about 5 times better than at Las Margaritas, but for the same price. El Toreador is definitely the best Mexican restaurant on the Eastside. more

RELIABLY GOOD & REASONABLY PRICED 8/11/2002

Have been eating there for many years, once a week.. or more. Food is always good and prices very reasonable. Service is great... unless ""Fast Eddie"" slams it at you and leaves before you can order another drink or dessert. The rest of wait staff are wonderful, and even ""Eddie"" can grow on you if you don't mind his ""Get'em in and get'em out"" pace. Of course this works in your favor when in a hurry! Atmosphere is ""Down Home Funky"" and definitely worth a visit if you've not been there. Pros: authentic, reliably good, friendly staff Cons: can be noisy, Eddie is curt more

We've been going to El Toreador's for years and have never been dissapointed in the food. The service is another matter. For the past few years, the evening staff has 2 waiter's: 1 great and 1 truly terrible. He has literally spilled food, beer and salsa on my lap over the years. I've learned to politely decline tables served by the bad waiter even at the risk of a 5 minute wait. But, the food is the reason to go. The carne asada is spicy and is served with warm flour tortillas. Other favorites include tacos, burritios and the cheese enchiladas are the best.
