An Atlanta Music Staple! 8/20/2010

OMG this place rocks! Although I've been going here for years - I'm just now writing a review on Eddie's cuz I just joined today (and am trying to go ahead & write up some reviews on fav spots etc.). A cornerstone in the music industry, Eddie's Attic has been host to well known artists, up-and-comers, indies and more. Great drinks and the food sure isn't bad either. Get here & get musically-eddified! :P more

THE Spot for music 8/16/2010

WOW! This place has been here for years and you can tell why as soon as you walk in! Right in the heart of downtown Decatur, this place has all ya need. You walk in the door and go up some stairs. Then you can either turn left, pay a cover charge, and go through the doors & listen to some great live music & have some drinks. Or you can turn right from the top of the stairs, visit the merch table for the bands in the other room, and then head on out to the patio (where there is no cover charge) to listen to the bands in the other room, djs, etc. have some drinks, eat some food, whatever. This place has hosted big names and small ones, with many biguns getting their start here! If you've not been here before, please go - reviews here really can't do the place justice. more

Incredible Music and More 6/17/2010

Nestled right in the heart of Decatur, Eddie's Attic is a must-stop for music fans, where any given night of the week you'll find an array of talented musicians performing. Monday is the legendary open mic night, where you just might see the next big thing. The "listening room" is truly that -- an intimate setting where a quiet and respectful audience grooves to some acoustic tunes. Or if you'd rather chill and chat with your friends, head out to the uber-cool patio for some dinner and drinks. See that cool cat at the end of the bar smoking a pipe and sipping bourbon? That's Eddie. Go ahead, introduce yourself. He's friendly and chock-full of great stories. Next time you're in the mood for something different, head over to Eddie's Attic, a musical gem that truly marches to the beat of a different drummer. more

An Acoustic Treasure in Decatur 2/24/2010

Feeling very reminiscent of the small, yet ideal clubs of Nashville - where even the smallest room has a wonderful sound system - Eddie's Attic is truly about the song. With open-mic nights during the weekdays, the weekends pull in great songwriters from Atlanta, or those touring through. Pooling money with your friends to buy a table is the way to guarantee a seat and great table service, though there is a bit of bar seating if you get there early. The friendly door worker will remind you to silence your phone, and this is a place where you will feel truly sheepish if you deviate from the rules. Its small, intimate, and clean - perfect to see the next big star. Pros: Excellent sound system/respectful concert-goers Cons: Standing room only for the bigger shows more

perfect for what it is 7/17/2009

i love that the priority at eddie's is the music. they do everything in their power to make it the best environment for listening to the world's best acoustic music. people who don't want to be cramped or told to not talk loud or told to turn off their cell phones, etc should not go - if you are looking for an upscale bar experience, don't go. if you want to go somewhere to meet people or catch up with friends and have some good music in the background, don't go. if you are looking for a funky hole in the wall, with plenty of character, to actually listen to good music without a bunch of distractions, you should check it out. the servers and owners are going to defend the environment first and serve the customer second, so don't expect anything different. if that bothers you - perfect, don't go, those of us that enjoy this place don't want you there. Pros: it's all about the music baby Cons: sometimes draws customers who don't understand the pros more

Great acoustic venue 5/5/2009

Eddie's Attic is my favorite venue in the metro area, mainly because it's so intimate. If you enjoy live acoustic music then this is the place to go. I have discovered a lot of good artists at Eddie's. It's really small so get there early if you don't have a table reserved and so you can snag a seat in the "bleachers". There is not a bad seat in the house and if you get a table you can literally be three inches away from the performer. However, if you are the type of person who needs lots of personal space or loves to talk incessantly during sets Eddie's Attic may not be the place for you as talking is heavily discouraged and it can get cramped during sold-out shows. Pros: Up close and personal Cons: Up close and personal more

Impressing menu, incredible music 12/5/2008

We've been going to Eddie's Attic for several years now and have never had a bad experience. The food is always fresh and flavorful - it's pretty typical bar food, but well prepared, obviously by someone who knows what they're doing. And the music is always spot on. It's a great room to see a singer/songwriter in a more personal setting. Pros: delicious sweet fries, perfectly cooked burgers, strong drinks Cons: Room can be crowded, but it's worth it. more

Customer Service issues 11/21/2008

I have been to Eddies many times, but will not go back. I recently purchased tickets online, received a confirmation number, and my credit card was billed. I received an email one week before the show noting that they had increase the price of the tickets ($10 to $25) and they were going to refund my card. They said I could repurchase them if I would like. I had adjusted my schedule to make this show and was disappointed and confused on how they could do this. I call and requested to speak to the owner and was told he was busy at the moment and he could call me back as soon as he had a moment. I never received a call. EA books great musicians but out of principle I cannot support them at this venue. Pros: Good music and sound Cons: Customer Service BOOOOO more

Great place for music, food and drinks 11/11/2008

Eddie's Attic is a great place to listen to some of the best live music in the country. They have a plenty of well known, as well as up and comming artists most nights of the week. The menu is really good and having a cold one on the rooftop grill is enjoyable and relaxing. Pros: Great menu Cons: Limited menu more

Worst experience of my life server put mucus in my drink 8/31/2008

This place is by far the worst place I have ever dined in my life. The small place was packed and there were only 2 waiters on the floor. When my friends and I finally got a server we ordered our food (after they told us the kitchen was closed and then proceeded to tell us the kitchen was back open) and mine came out incorrectly. I told my server and he looked extremely mad that he had to send it back. He came back to the table and tried to place blame on me that my food was wrong. He then slams my ginger ale on the table and says "heres your ginger ale, I hope you enjoy it". Thinking that was an odd thing for him to say I look in my drink and there was a huge ball of mucus floating on top. I then went out to the front to advise the manager on duty, who happened to be the founder, Eddie. He proceeded to tell me that he was on the waiters side and that he wasnt going to waste his time arguing with me. He THEN told me I needed to leave if I had a problem with one of his servers. He could not explain what the mucus was, he got very close to my face and put his hands on me. I could smell the whisky on his breath and he was completely rude and disrespectful. I got kicked out (by the founder) because my server put his bodily fluid in my drink. I caused no problems and they treated me like I was a raging crazy woman. I was drinking ginger ale for goodness sake. Worst time of my life. Pros: Nothing at all Cons: Dont give a _____ about their guests more

A hellhole. 2/27/2008

We bought tickets for a show that out of town guests wanted to see. Arrived to find ourselves crammed into an incredibly small space, complete with chairs that I imagine were bought from a VFW yard sale 20 years ago. Myriad rules involved in the listening room dictates patrons behaviour there, but doesn't stop the back door from opening and closing every few seconds, allowing the smoke and noise from the adjoining room to pollute the environment. Service was terrible, even considering the fact that Atlanta (and Decatur particularly) sets a very low bar for service. But when I've paid nearly $100 for tickets to a show, should I also have to wait 17 minutes (I clocked it on my watch) for a bartender to take our order after the concert, despite the fact that there were only 5 other people there? I've lived across the globe, and I respect that Eddie's Attic resided in the same zip code as the Indigo Girls and John Mayer--and thus like to take credit for their success. But I've never seen such an awful music venue in my life, where literally everything seems to be falling apart. I half expected my foot to go through a floorboard at any moment. The owners of this establishment should be ashamed. Pros: ???? more

Great placce to see local talent 10/31/2006

My girlfriend and I went to the Open Mic night and had a great time. The bar is a little... well rundown to be honest, but most of the the performers were pretty good and several were great. If you are looking for something different to do, and like live music you should check it out. Pros: Great music, local talent Cons: a little rundown more

One of a kind place in Atlanta 9/15/2005

This place is all about the music. Come if you are interested in truly listening to some great bands. Don't miss the open mike shootouts. Pros: music more

A club for music lovers 4/4/2004

My love affair with Eddies has lasted many years. Imagine a club where no one smokes and everyone hushes once the music starts. Though Eddie sold the place to friends a couple of years ago, they have continued the excellent programming. Local favorites like Matthew Kahler, Michelle Mallone, Pierce Pettis, and Clay Cook are frequent performers. There is an emphasis on developing new talent. I cherish memories of John Mayer shows here before he broke, when I sat close enough to reach out and tap him. The bars (one on the patio and one inside the listening room) specialize in beers, but wine and cocktails may also be had. Food is generally excellent (especially for pub fare), but has declined in quality somewhat since Eddie moved on. The Dixieland chicken sandwich and burgers are good choices, with regular or sweet potato fries or the superb red onion rings as accompaniment. Pros: Great music, Respectful audiences, Good eats more

THE Best Place in Atlanta for Music 10/1/2002

As a patron of Eddie's from the get-go, every visit there has been nothingless than a treat. It is an establishment truly committed to up-and-coming artists as well as many well-known folks. You never know who is going to pop in to jam with whoever's on the stage. The musical magic that is fostered in the place is amazing - I was concerned that magic would be jeopardized with the new ownership but Todd & Jennifer have perpetuated Eddie's spirit. Pros: True Musical Talent, Guaranteed Great Time, A Gem Cons: Those stairs after a, night of drinking, can really suck more

Best place for Live Music! 9/10/2002

Turn off your cell phone and get ready for a good time! The listening room in Eddie's Attic showcases a variety of artisis in a venue designed for listeners and perfomers to enjoy the experience. If you want to get a little less sedate they have an awesome ouside patio with a bar so you can talk and hang out with your friends. Great staff and good food, I reccommend the sweet potato fries! more

want food with your music? 8/16/2002

Eddie's Attic must have the best battered stuffed mushrooms in the world. This is not an exaggeration...check them out for yourself. Also, if you are looking for a "less" crowded music venue, Eddie's is your place. Pros: amazing mushrooms, localmusic speacialty Cons: parking in Decatur more

great venue for acoustic music! 7/28/2002

Online ticket purchase was easy, and the concert was awesome! In the concert room there's no smoking and they discourage talking. There's a poolroom and a patio for those who need a cig or want to get rowdy. The crowd was friendly and the food and drink prices were reasonable. Helpful hint: ticket distribution for the 9:30 show begins at 9:00, and the tickets are handed out in the order they were purchased. Get there early if you want to be able to sit during the show. Pros: great venue, cheap tix & drinks, no smoke Cons: latecomers stand more
