The food is good, the prices are great, but the service... I don't know why they're so bad. I eat there a lot, but I only go if I know I have some time to wait. They could do worse though. I always get my meal and it's usually right. It's just really difficult to flag down a waiter sometimes. Pros: **VALUE**, good food, nice atmosphere Cons: slow service, dissappearing waiters more

NICE PLACE 6/25/2003

Rive Gauche is a charming neighborhood place serving good food and drink. I have lived in the area for 10 years and this is by far the best we have had. I love the cafe....and they now serve breakfast every morning too... Thanks rive more

Dining Disappointment 7/31/2002

For a place with potential, it's too bad they can't find a staff with any brains. The food is decent and the atmosphere quite pleasant. Now, if only that waiter could remember my meal! This wait was enough to make even the most patient among us, to stay away for good. more

A Service Disaster! 7/30/2002

I have passed Rive Gauche numerous times and wanted to try it for a while now, a word to the wise don't go! Although the food was fine, the service was terrible. They forgot about our dinner, when we finally reminded the flakey blond male waiter, (an hour an a half after being seated and as we had watched two other tables come and go) he brought our food, forgot about our salads and brought our appetizers after our maincourse. Not to mention the service was terrible with water, bread, etc. It was too bad because I live in the neighborhood and really hoped to enjoy it. Never again though, not to mention the only thing the comped was an unwanted glass of wine. Stear clear! more

Baby, You're the BEST!! 7/10/2002

We came to this bistro in 2001, & found the food & service outstanding. On returning this summer{2002}, we had to go back & bring our friends there. Whether seated on their patio, or indoors, it was a nice place to eat. The waitstaff was friendly & courteous. The food was excellent & served promptly. This year we went back, a second day, for the brunch....Superb!!! more

Why do people get so upset over Service? 7/8/2002

I think people really expect a lot out of waitors and waitresses. So often I see people getting SOOO angry when the server isn't right there with their wine or water. What is the point of going out to dinner if you're going to be a total basket case with stress? Relax, enjoy yourself and enjoy the fact that things are slower paced. It's probably why French people as a whole have fewer heart problems! They can chill out! I went there this past Friday and I had no problems with the service...they took my order, brought my food and had a smile on. What else do I need? And the food was great. I TOTALLY recommend the goat cheese tart. Pure SIN but oh so delicious. more
