Worse doctor ever!!! 11/2/2012

Stay away, rude and the office is a scam asking for deposits for items covered by insurance! I wrote a long reason about my visit today but it doesn't look like it posted!!! :-( more

Worst Doctor Ever 11/2/2012

I went today to get an IUD replaced not only was she rude I didn't get the IUD I needed. When I asked about the IUD she said they had to get the authorization and there would be an in office co-pay??? When I asked how much it would be she said I would find out with the authorization. When I went to the front to pay for my office visit I was told they needed $250 as an office deposit for the IUD. When I called my insurance they said they shouldn't be charging me anything!!!! I wasted two hours with horrible service and I still don't have my IUD. Calling my doctor to get a new referral!!! What a complete waste!!!! more

Colposcopy and Biopsy 8/7/2012

I was referred to Dr. Iwata through my primary care physician after I had an abnormal papsmear with high-risk HPV. I went in to my appointment with a list of questions I had written down. She refused to even let me ask a question until she had finished examining and taking tissue samples from me. After the procedure when she finally allowed me to ask a question, her reactions and answers were cold, curt and she barely gave me any information. She told me over the phone that the results of my biopsy showed precancerous cells and that there is nothing I can do about it, all I can do it wait 6 months and get another papsmear. Perhaps she is right, but she left me feeling so uninformed about my condition and the risks it involves that I am having all my medical records forwarded to another doctor and going to get a second opinion. Overall this woman's bedside manner is terrible and her demeanor leaves you feeling ashamed and dumb for asking a question. more

Love her 11/1/2010

I think she has the coolest beside manner. She's been extremely helpful with menopause issues. And she is the easiest when getting a pap smear. She has that laid back Hawaiian attitude which is perfect when she does her examines. I am so happy I go to her, she is the only one I trust. more

Mom 9/22/2010

Good: Absolutely nothing!. Bad: She is not only a cold fish, but also inept as a physician. After my daughter was diagnosed with cancer cells, we left 5 messages for biopsy results with NO call back. Now my daughter also has a lump and come to find out, Dr. Iwata never did a routine breast exam. How do you spell MALPRACTICE?. Improvements: Take her license to practice away. Maybe she could become a veterinarian, although I think my dog deserves better.. more

Horrible Doctor 8/24/2010

Good: I wish there was something positive I could say about her.. Bad: EVERTYHING. Improvements: Dr. Iwata needs to find a new career.. Other: While I was pregnant with my first child, I unfortunately had to call the Drs. office after hour because I was feeling an unusual amount of pain. Unfortunately for me, Dr. Iwata was the doctor on call that evening. She was the rudest, coldest doctor I EVER encountered. After hanging up with her, I was more upsest than ever. Dr. Iwata must clearly hate her life and/or chosen profession. It still amazes me that she is still in practice. I would NOT EVER recommend her anyone.. more

Once and never again. 6/13/2010

Good: The wait was short. Down to business. The annual check-up was professional.. Bad: She treated me as though I was stupid. Excuse me, but I have questions as a patient. It was rude of her to treat me like an idiot after being vulnerable as a naked patient. This was my first time to the gyno and I've been scared to go back ever since.. Improvements: How about treating me humanly? Treating patients humanly? I shower daily and people don't flinch when they look at me so the horrible treatment couldn't be because I smelled or was ugly.. Other: I read a comment saying that she might treat Asian-Americans better, but I'm an Asian-American who has been treated horribly by Iwata. I'm switching to Hartford who has a much kinder disposition.. more

Stay away! 6/9/2010

If I could give negative stars I would. Iwata is the coldest, most insulting doctor I have ever encountered. She made me feel like the biggest idiot with every question I asked. She reprimanded me for being married so young (I'm 29), and even had the audacity to roll her eyes at me when I said I was in a monogamous relationship with my husband. I tried talking to her about multiple issues I had going on with my body. She had absolutely no interest in helping me. She just said no, that I was just trying to get drugs from her, and IF I even had these other problems I should go back to the doctor I was with before. Trust me lady, if she wasn't in another state, I WOULD! The most medication I take is my birth control and the occasional allergy pill. I don't even like taking advil if I have a headache... yea, I'm a threat. I hope you realized how much of a huge mistake you made, because the people at the pharmacy will not recommend you anymore after this. more

Competent Doctor 12/15/2009

Dr. Iwata met my needs fine and is a good doctor. She's not into chit-chat, so if you want a more personal experience she may not be the doctor for you. But if you want to see someone who's efficient, capable, relatively pleasant, doesn't keep you waiting long at visits and has a great office staff (and free parking), she would be a great choice. more

Don't go if you want a caring doctor 11/18/2009

I have had many doctors in my lifetime and I have to say that Dr. Iwata was the rudest, most uncaring that I've experienced. I usually go to females because of their caring nature. She is worse than most of the males I've encountered. Maybe she's tired of what she does. I thought maybe she was having a bad day but since I read the other reviews, I see that this is just her. I will be switching to someone else. No one needs to put up with drama from their doctor. more

Unprofessional and unkind 9/21/2009

Good: Originally liked her. She delivered my son. Seemed knowledgeable and likable for the most part.. Bad: In subsequent years she seemed to be more and more harried and stressed. Was actually quite rude when I discussed another pregnancy with her, telling me my "eggs were probably too old". I left and sat in my car in the parking lot in tears. The next time I had to go in I saw a different doctor in the same office. Have since moved out of the area. Really don't think she acts professionally, compassionately and definitely does not seem to like her job.. Improvements: Be nice. Empathize. Treat your patients like your equals...not like you are the "queen".. Other: She should get some professional counseling on how to deal respectfully with her patients or she should retire.. more

Bad Doctor 6/28/2009

Dr. Iwata doesn't seem to like being a doctor that has to communicate with people. She was not friendly at all. She's in and out. And when I had my ultrasound she made me clean the gel off myself, luckily my husband was there to help me. No small talk with this doctor, no getting to know who you are, no getting to know who she is and no smiles. I will not go to her again. I see pic. of her smiling with other pregnant couples, so maybe she only likes connection with Asian-Americans and white people. more

do not recommend 6/25/2009

the first time i saw dr. iwata i thought she was pleasant. each time i went back, her attitude became more and more curt and discourteous. i am having twins and it's my first pregnancy. i'm going into my 7th month of pregnancy and regret waiting this long to switch doctors. i've walked out of her office in tears more than once. she has made my first pregnancy a somewhat unpleasant experience. i'm switching to dr. hartford, who's in the same office. i've heard very nice things about him. more

Good Doctor 12/23/2008

Dr. Iwata is kind, knowledgable and gentle. I have recommended her to my entire family. more

rude no bedside manners, horrible dr 10/20/2008

Dr. Iwata has been the worse Dr I have ever come in contact with. Beacause of her i nearly lost my life. I don't understand why anyone would recommend her. Her license should be taken away. If you truly want an amazing gynecologist go with dr hartford wcih is in the same office. more

Not that nice 7/24/2007

After reading the reviews here, I went to Dr. Iwata for the first trimester of my first pregnancy. I found her to be curt and dismissive. I assume she is a knowledgeable and experienced doctor; however, I found her bedside manner to be quite abrasive. I didn't feel comfortable with her as my doctor should there be any complications with my pregnancy. I was not able to communicate well with her so I changed doctors and now, I am really happy I found Dr. Dwight. more

Awesome doctor! 5/2/2007

I had my second child through C section with Dr. Iwata.. she is very knowledgeable, experienced and professional. She gave us excellent care and a wonderful c- section..I highly recommend her:) more

A great OB/GYN that understands our family. 7/30/2005

My wife began using Dr. Iwata when we first moved to Southern California almost 5 years ago. She's always been very happy with her and the care she received there. Dr. Iwata delivered our 2nd child. She was professtional and seems to care about our family. Her office is very "kid friendly" with lots of kids books. She's right next to Verdugo Hills Hospital making her very convenient. more

A great doctor, right next to the hospital! 7/27/2005

I have had great experiences with Dr. Iwata. She is always very personable and polite. Her bed manner is exceptional. She's always seemed interested in getting to know me and my family. She's a great doctor. Her office is right next to Verdugo Hills hospital, making visits very convenient. Her nurses are very nice as well. There are kids books in her waiting rooms, and I always feel that my kids are welcome there. more
