Horrible product and worse customer service 1/3/2010

I purchased 25 chairs from the Door Store for office use. Within 1 week, half of them were already broken from normal use. Sitting on them would litterally break them. I wrote an email to the Door Store and their response was:\r \r ""Door Store was taken over by a large corporation on Nov 17, 2009, who changed the name to The Door Store, LLC.\r Regrettably, the new Door Store has no relationship with the vendor of the chairs you have and as such are not able to replace or exchange them.\r \r Thank you for your inquiry.""\r \r Now we are out a few thousand dollars b/c they do not want to take responsibility for their poor product. \r \r \r \r Cons: everything more

Do NOT shop at the Door Store! 12/18/2009

My husband and I purchased (with cash, because there was a discount) a dining room table from the Door Store in July (back when my husband was still my fiance). It's now December, and we have gotten married and still have yet to receive said table. Their original delivery estimate was 6-8 weeks. Fine. Then we started getting a different story every time we called...oh, it's delayed another two weeks, it's not in the country yet, it's IN the country but hasn't cleared customs, we have the chairs but not the table, it'll be another month, etc. At one point they offered us a refund, and we decided to stick it out...then when we decided to take the refund, they rescinded the offer and said we were only entitled to store credit. Employees admitted to us that they had been told to lie about the reason for the delays, which almost angers me more than not getting the table. Lying to your customers is just BAD business practice, and we will definitely be spreading the word that no one should shop there ever again! Cons: poor customer service, bad business practices more

DO NOT SHOP HERE 12/14/2009

I had a sweet sales person that I guess was just hungry to close a sale. I was interested in purchasing a dresser that was on sale at the West 17th Street location, but I needed the dimensions. We agreed that I would give a $200.00 deposit, go home, measure the space and call that day to say whether or not it will fit. If it does not fit, they will credit me my $200.00 back and I don't have to take the store credit. Great. Wonderful service.\r \r I went home that afternoon, and the dresser was too big so I called my salesperson to assure my refund. The next day they charged me $200.00 and 31 days later, I still did not receive my money back. The store robbed me. They stole my money.\r \r I spoke with corporate (American Signature Furniture) to find out that the Door Store went Bankrupt on 11/18/09 and my money was taken. They have no money to give me back. They can extend a store credit. \r \r Although they may have an attractive showcase, please be careful when they are pushing a sale or making ""deals"" to work with you. They will steal your money. \r \r Pros: Attractive furniture Cons: Poor & Unethical Service and Follow Through more

FURNITURE DOESN'T LAST 11/24/2009

We bought nice looking stools in 2004.They were barely used, but 3 years later, the back strap on both fell off due to the fake leather simply wearing out. Their answer? The company provides only a 1-year warranty. This may be acceptable on electronics, but furniture should last more than 1 year. I would never invest money in their furniture again. Pros: Good prices, good design Cons: Terrible quality more

website is a fraud 11/23/2009

wish I had looked at the reviews. I ordered chairs from the website that were said to be ""in stock"" or available for immediate delivery. I chose to p/up the chairs at the NJ warehouse. when i called the warehouse I was told it would be at least four weeks before the chairs were available. I guess I'll be sitting on folding chairs for thanksgiving. don't risk it! Pros: decent furniture moderately priced Cons: watch out for delays more

Do Not Shop Here! 11/7/2009

Whatever you do, do not shop at The Door Store if you actually want to receive the furniture you purchase. I purchased furniture from the store 14 weeks ago and have yet to receive the furniture. I was told that all items were in stock except for the dining table, which was backordered 4-6 weeks. After 4 weeks I called to receive an estimate about when to expect delivery and was told that not only was the table backordered but the dressers were as well. I was told that the dressers would be in after Labor day and to call back then. I did, and was informed that they wouldn't be in until the end of September, along with the table. At that point I started calling every Friday, and each time the story changed depending on who answered the phone. On Sept. 25th I was told that the dressers and chairs were in and could be delivered, but the table now would not be in until the mid-October. I scheduled delivery of the dressers and chairs; however, when they arrived I realized that the dressers were not the ones I had ordered based on the description online. They were not available to view in the showroom, and I needed them to be a specific size to fit into the space available in my small apartment. I confirmed online that they were different than advertised, called customer service and was told to refuse delivery. Before the store had even called me back to discuss the issue they had changed the description and measurements online. Now I have four dining chairs, no table on which to serve meals, and am living out of suitcases.\r After some discussions I arranged to exchange the dressers for ones that were in the showroom for viewing and would fit in my space. That was four weeks ago, Oct. 9th. I was told that they, surprise, were backordered 4-6 weeks. I called on Oct. 30th and was told the dressers and table would be in on Nov. 9th. I called again on Nov. 6th and was told that the dressers and table wouldn't be in at least until the last week of November. \r At the time of purchase I was offered a 15% discount if I paid with a debit card, which I did. The Door Store cancellation policy is that after 48 hours of purchase a cancellation will not get you a refund; instead, you get store credit. And they take no responsibility at all for ""vendor delays"". Quite honestly, I am dumbfounded at how this company remains in business. They have taken over $1,800 of my money, in cash, and have not delivered on their end of the contract.\r The bottom line here is do not go to this store, do not go to the Web site, and do not give them your money if you actually want to receive what you purchased. more

Great prices, cool style, awesome service!!! 8/18/2007

Door Store Furniture exceeded all of our expectations. The sales associate was extremely knowledgeable and honest about how long we would have to wait for our bedroom set. We didn't mind because the look and price could not be beat and great things are worth the wait. We also ordered a wall unit and a leather sofa and lovesaet which was available immediately and delivered in three days. We received our bedroom set as promised within the quoted timeframe and are enjoying the beautiful furniture. I recommend Door Store Furniture to anyone who wants a great value on quality, stylish furniture. Loved the service from A to Z!!!!! Door Store Furniture is a sure thing. You cannot go wrong there!! Pros: Price, style, service and knowledge!! Cons: Not a single one! more

Still waiting for my furniture! 6/25/2007

If you were asked to ask me about my experience with the door store on 3rd ave, I'd have to say it gave me an enormous migraine. We ordered our furniture early May and were informed that we'd receive it at the end of the month. At the end of May we received a post card to let us know that our order was delayed to the middle of June. We called mid June to get an update on the status and we were told we would get it by the week after. GUESS WHAT?!?! It's the week after and now we're told that we'll get the furniture by next week the latest. I don't mind slow delivery, but if I had been told it would take 2 months to get my furniture at least i would have been aware of the long wait.\r \r We have more rooms to furnish and I will definitely not order from them. I'm going to Bob's Discount furniture... they're a lot better with costumer service.\r \r **Update: Finally got my furniture in July. I'm guessing the person that wrote that positive review works at the door store ;-) more

Horrible Customer Service 9/28/2006

First we bought a dining room table from the Door Store, they claimed we would have it in 2 months. Then that became more like 3 months, then 4 months - we finally asked for a refund. We didn't learn our lesson and ordered a desk and hutch. Instead of taking 4 weeks it took 7 weeks. The employees are the Door Store have been consistently rude and incompetent. Not recommended unless it is furniture that you can bring right home with you. more
