Best

Man do they pile it on. If you like it hot and you like big portions.

Worst

This is not even the 4th best Q in the area. It's a good thing that the criteria is ""mouth numbing"" and not good tasting! The meat is too fatty, over cooked (seems boiled rath...

Roadkill 11/17/2002

This barbeque is God awful. It tastes like road kill. Not to mention his employees are very rude as well. If you want real barbeque, this place isn't it. Cons: Customer Service, BBQ needs flavor more

The best of the best 11/15/2002

Dixie's is well worth the wait on those sunny days. A good place to people watch and savor the tastes. more

Best Barbecue, period. 11/15/2002

If you've spent any time in the southern center of the company, you will understand that barbecue means briscuit, any sort of pork is mearly a side dish. Dixie's has the best implementation of a good Texas-style southern barbecue outside of that state. Be careful of 'The Man'. A toothpick drop added excellent flavor; a spoonful can lead to lasting pain. Cons: Parking more

Best BBQ 11/15/2002

Unlike 3 pigs and other ""bar b que"" this isnt that overly sweet trash that texans pass off as bar b que, this is real Lousianna style and it is GREAT! Only eat it if you like good food, and your not a dirty texan. more

NW BBQ gone South 11/15/2002

This used to be a fun place to have a great BBQ sandwhich, something or someones gone south. Pros: price appropriately, quanties are good Cons: location, service more

No Mon, man 11/12/2002

At best, this place is overstated, overrated, and, if you're lucky, they will decide to close for the day while you are still in line. The barbeque is terrible, and the so-called dogs not something I'd feed to mine. The staff are rude, and how they stay in business is beyond me. more

theman 11/11/2002

Best BBQ this side of the MIssissippi, if you want good eatin' this is it more

Great Name ? the Q 11/9/2002

Does not live up to real southern Q. Sweat cornbread.....no way this is southern. Should be cooked on a pit to truly make the grade. The ""Man"" will get your attention however! more

Bad attitudes and food 11/9/2002

Sorry, the hype over the ""Man"" is by far too overated. The sauce is the focus and not the rest of the food fortunately for Dixie's. The women behind the counter is surley and tyhe food is sub-par. Without the suace the meat is dry and nothing to write home about. The entertainment factor of watching rookies eat ""The Man"" is the only redeeming factor of going to Dixie's. Pros: Entertainment, free peanuts Cons: poor value, poor food quality more

Yuck! 10/26/2002

I'm sorry, but being a native Tennessee girl, I think this food is an embarrasment to BBQ. I like Gene and his act is fun, but I'd never go back for the food. I'm afraid that some folks'd eat dirt and say they like it if they thought it was the hip thing to do. ""Emperor's New Clothes"" and all that. I'd bet the farm on the fact that you take Dixie's BBQ to a blind tasting and folks'd be singin' a whole different tune on this ""fabulous"" food. more

The Man is overrated 10/26/2002

Dixie's is fine. If you don't mind standing in line for crappy food and poor service. It is fun to watch everybody get harassed while they eat. more

Good but not great. 10/26/2002

Meats are very tender. Sauce is only real drawback. There are better sauces elsewhere like Texas Smokehouse and 3 Pigs. Portions are good. Prices are average. The ""Man"" is entertaining. Watch out for the hot sauce. Pros: Meats Cons: Parking, Crowded more

Jusk O.K. 10/26/2002

Good, but not great. Not worth the wait. Seating is limited. Three Pigs and Hole in the Wall are both better. more

I met the MAN! 10/26/2002

Great food, and the owner and his wife make the joint, Oh yea I met the MAN! more

Greasy 10/25/2002

Tasted like the food was cooked in the sauce rather than being basted. Greasy, fatty texture to meats. more

burn ya better 10/24/2002

Hot dam, this hot sauce will curl anyones tounge. Food is great if you go little to none on the sauce(The Man) if you load up on the Man you won't be tastting anything else (for awhile). A burn that sticks sround for the next day. Corn bread can't be beat, sweet potatoe pie is great, get there on wednesday so you can try the BBQ beans. And you best know what you want before you get to the counter. more

The BBQ Nazi? 10/21/2002

The service can be a little on the strict side, but that just adds to the atmosphere at Dixie's. Food worth standing in line an hour for! All of the side dishes are worth extra money, and the lemon cake is to die for. Never had anything there I didn't like. more

Where's the BBQ???? 9/24/2002

I went to Dixies for the first time after hearing all the hype. Once I got there, there was a long lunch line. I was thinking this is going to be great stuff. Food sucks. Ribs are fatty and boiled with tons of bbq sauce poured over them. Aren't ribs supposed to be bbqed on a grill? I felt so gross after eating them. I'm not an expert on southern bbq but I know terrible food when I eat it. Pros: Good corn bread, cheap, friendly owner Cons: The food, Crowded more

This isn't ""BBQ"" 9/11/2002

Seattleites obviously don't know BBQ. This stuff is nothing more than stewed meat. I read the reviews, and being a BBQ fanatic, took my wife and had lunch. I even had some of the ""Man."" This bears no resemblance to real BBQ, infact it is terrible as food in general. The owner is great and worth a visit. Eat only if you have to. more

that's some good eatin' 9/8/2002

I've been going to dixies for more than 5 years and will contnue to go as long as I live in washington. For bbq in the northwest this is as good as it gets! more
