Superb Service 12/30/2010

I moved here 3 years ago from Southern California with a 1994 Mercedes E320 and a 2003 BMW 328ci and have gotten superb service at really reasonable costs for both cars at Demo’s. Once when my wife was out of town, I took in her BMW because the check engine light came on. They kept the car for three days, driving it each day to make sure the problem was simply with the warning light itself. When I went to pick it up, there was no charge! That would have made the news in L.A. more

Fast Service 12/29/2010

Dropped off my car at 8:00 AM on a Saturday and got it back by noon that day. more

Great Service 12/20/2010

Demos Automotive Center is great. I had a very good experience. I took my car in, had it repaired, and I picked it up. The insurance company took care of the billing as my car was wrecked due to know fault of my own. I did not have any trouble. Everyone was very cordial, the service was great, and they did a fantastic job. You would never know my car had been squashed. more

Great Place 12/17/2010

I have used your facility before and I will use it again. I also refer people because you are always great. The work is superbly excellent. Plus the place is super clean. more

Best service ever 2/17/2010

My husband and I have been going to Demo's for almost 20 years. They have always given us great service at a fair price for both repairs and body work. I can count on them for an honest estimate and timeframe for the work requested with no unhappy surprises. They are accomodating in dropoffs and pickups, and their work is dependable. It is a pleasure doing business with Demo's. more

Great Experience 1/21/2010

I had a piece of plastic bumper that had been hit and was hanging loose. I wanted to have it repaired as well as possible at minimum cost. I expected a cost of 250-500. Their estimator said he could put it back very easily. Charge-$0. I would certainly go back. Pros: Very honest experience Cons: None more

Great People, Great Service 1/6/2010

I have used Demo's for over 30 years for everything from routine maintenance to body work In my experience , the service reflects a family-owned business with their name on the door. I have always gotten excellent service and advice - including not to spend money on some repairs on an over -accessorized car! I know that the same people will be there to help me who really know me and my car. I have found the charges to be reasonable and the turnaround excellent. What more can you ask for from an automotive service provider ? Pros: Reliable, trustworthy, they get it right more

Not Trustworthy 10/22/2009

After being rear-ended I took my shop to Demo's as suggested by my insurance. At drop off, they seemed very annoyed that I was even there, but I did not pay too much attention to it considering it was early Monday morning. We all know how Mondays are. The repair work was done very quickly and they called me on Wednesday so I could pick up my car. After some discrepancies with what I thought was trunk damage, I signed my ticket and was on my way. (I thought I saw what looked like "buckling" in my trunk but they explained that is simply where the parts are welded together and there was no actual "buckling"). At the very mention of my concern, Edward became very rude and unprofessional. He would not even allow me to finish my sentence before he would either cut me off or tell me that he has been doing this for a very long time. After getting the issue actually clarified, I drove off. Only to realize that they STOLE from my change compartment. I put every single piece of change that I obtain in my car compartment, in the event of gas shortage or fast food, etc. All the Demo's left me...was Nickels and Dimes. I easily had about $12 worth of quarters and dimes in there....they took it all. Simply left me with Nickels and Dimes. I did call Edward and he stated that he would ask his manager to see if they could reimburse me, so far no call back, and I doubt that I will get one. I know it is only probably about $12, but it is the principal behind it that really makes me so upset. Last, when Edward called and told me about my car being ready, he stated that they "threw in" a free oil change. However, my paperwork does not reflect that one was done and they did not replace my sticker in my windshield either. So...do I take Edwards word that they Actually did an oil change? I think, better to be safe than sorry and I don't trust a word from Demo's and will never recommend them to anyone. Pros: work was done quickly Cons: They were very rude and took money from my car more

Complete rip-off 4/30/2009

This place charges way too much for labor. I had my spark plug wires replaced and after I paid $240 in labor and diagnostic fees, I called three other mechanics and asked them what they would charge. They all quoted me at about $100 less than what Demo charged. I was ripped off! DO NOT GO HERE!!! They get away with charging this much b/c they're located in West U. and people will pay it without realizing it. more

Bad Attitude and poor attention to detail 1/30/2009

Took my car there for an inspection at the request of a potential buyer. First impressions count and the guy who greeted me was rude off the bat. His name was BJ. I guess I annoyed him right away for just showing up. Several hours later when I picked up my car with greasy hand prints on the interior including a few on the fabric headliner which were a challenge to get out without marring the material. Also, some white crud on the carpet from shoes. Then on the way home I smelled radiator coolant and found that the radiator cap had not been properly secured. Poor attitudes and poor attention to detail and they were not even tasked for any repairs, just an inspection. Take your changes, but I know I will suggest to people I know to avoid this place. There are just too many other shops to even consider this place. Pros: none from my experience Cons: poor attitude and attention to detail more

An honest neighborhood mechanic. You will be pleased you came. 1/2/2009

I came to find Demo's as a Rice student and continue to use it 5 years after my first service there. From routine diagnostics to installation of a new battery to transmission work, their service has been expedient, well-executed and fairly-priced. This is the first car shop I've found where the mechanics take the time to thoroughly explain their work and lay out all of your options plainly so that you can decide what needs to be done now, and what can wait until later. To illustrate the personal investment these guys take in their work, here is my last Demo's experience: My transmission began working up one week before I had to make a 16 hour road trip. They not only serviced my car well, but also called to be sure I had made it safely to my next destination. I recommend this business personally to any friend looking for a repair shop, and I recommend it to you, too. You will be pleased you came. more

Kept car way too long 7/10/2008

They had our car for over two weeks. When we got the estimate, I told them that I absolutely needed it back by the following thursday because I had an out of town meeting and was leaving to drive back to the Midwest. Today is when I should have my car back and they are still dragging their feet; it's been two full weeks. Cons: kept car longer than expected more

Avoid this shop at all cost: Poor work and bad customer service 1/31/2008

Demo's was recommended as one of my insurance comapny's approved shops and I took my vehicle there after it was damaged in a theft. To replace a broken window and the steering column it took them almost a month, and all the while leaving me without a vehicle. After finally getting my car back, I never wanted to return to this shop again, but their poor work has kept me returning over and over to fix problems with their craftsmanship. My vehicle has never been the same, and on my last visit, TWO YEARS after the job, they refused to honor their guarantee on the original work. Now I am stuck spending money out of my own pocket to repair the steering column, but at least now I know teh work will be doen properly. Besides their negligence, Demo's also offers the poorest customer service I've ever received at a repair or body shop. Pros: Clean looking shop in good location Cons: Bad work, rude customer service, do not guarantee their lousy repairs more

Complete rip off 8/24/2006

I paid $155 for a battery they said would last me 6 years. 18 months later it died. I took it in to get a replacement. The prorated rate of the battery came out to under $40, but with their labor, it was over $80. Thus, I spent $235 for a battery that will probably die again in a year. Go to Walmart or Discount Tire and Battery. Do not go to Demo's. They are a money pit. more

Not a good experience 7/11/2006

It is probably a good thing I am writing this review a couple of years after my experience at Demos. My insurance company wanted me to bring my car to Demos. I certainly lived to regret it. Not only did it take over a month for me to get my car back, but they did not really seem to care one bit that it was costing me a fortune in car rental. Once I got the car back it was one thing after another. Diagnosis was wrong one time too many, but I had brought the car back because they were the ones that had the work "guaranteed". Finally I gave up and incurred more out of pocket expense by going to the dealer (who fixed some recurring problems immediately). I'm still paying for the work they did, one a car that was near perfect before their repair job. Of course, a wrecked car can be trouble - but not this much! Cons: Slow, Apathetic more

Typical dishonest mechanic with bad prices. 6/30/2006

I can't believe this was an AAA-recommended mechanic. I went to them on 3 occasions. Every time, the prices seemed pretty high, but they were close by, and I was too lazy to find a new mechanic. Big mistake. The last big repair I had with them, was to replace my fan belt. However, within a month of the repair, I kept hearing a strange noise from the engine. I went to a new mechanic (a friend of a friend), who quickly located the problem - the fan belt was the wrong size!! Upon opening the hood, it was clearly obvious that the belt did not fit the "spool" and was sliding back and forth wildly. I took the car straight back to Demo's for them to make it right, and they argued with me at first, before I forced them to look at the belt (while I was standing there). They reluctantly agreed to replace the belt, but never apologized for their mistake in the first place. Would not recommend them -- there are much, much better-priced and HONEST mechanics in Houston. Don't waste your time or money at Demo's. Pros: Good location in Rice Village Cons: Price, poor customer service, poor quality repairs more
