Lunch, Del Frisco's best kept secret! 3/15/2011

Two weeks ago, while dining at Del Frisco's for lunch I had probably the best dining experience to date. Though it was early in the day, I wanted more of the dinner feel. My server, Melissa, was more than happy to oblige. My party was able to order some items off of the dinner menu, including their sometimes featured bone in filet mignon. Melissa also suggested a wonderful wine to accompany our meals. She was very honest and sweet. I was impressed by such a young server and hope all their employees are like her. Our meals were amazing, and unlike at dinner came with two sides! Del Frisco's lunch may be the best kept secret in Center City. I would suggest it to anyone, as long as they don't get so busy that it takes away from the service I experienced. more

GREAT Steak House 11/11/2009

We had one of the best dinners ever, professional service, beautiful place. Memorable evening, we had dinner when it first opened and thought it was OK. Seems to me that they have got it together NOW!!! Our steaks were cooked to perfection, awesome creamed spinach, fabulous potatoes and terrific desserts.\r \r FINALLY a real Steak House in Philadelphia!!!! Pros: Authentic true steak house more

Great Experience 10/27/2009

Went to Del Frisco's even after reading some not so great reviews. We are so happy we did. Our evening was nothing but enjoyable with really great food and friendly service throughout the restaurant. What a wonderful job with the old bank. We are already planning to go back with other friends. I don't know when some of the other people went our experience last week was wonderful. Pros: Steaks were Perfection more

Outstanding 10/20/2009

Had dinner at Del Frisco's on Saturday night, great food great service, warm and friendly people. The people criticizing the uniforms need to get over it. My swordfish was prepared perfectly, the wine list is the best in Philly and I even saw Flyer's players there. The restaurant really did a great job protecting the integrity of a city landmark when building in this one time First Pennsylvania Bank space. BEAUTIFUL!! Pros: Great Service and Food Cons: Expensive more

Great Place for a Steak 10/20/2009

I have dined at Del Frisco's on mulitple occasions and can't begin to tell you how great this place has become. I must admit it was a bit rough around the edges inthe beginning, but they have it together now. Go for the private dining rooms if you need an event, my boss was blown away by the vault!! This place exudes hospitality, from the front door to the guy in the bathroom. The food is outstanding, my favorite is the bone-in filet!! The cheesecake is like none that I have ever tasted, and the gnocchi with king crab is awesome. Pros: Great food and service, ambiance Cons: A bit expenisve more

Don't Even Bother Going To Del Friscos 10/9/2009

A group of four of us had dinner here last week (Sunday night) I wish we went to Capital Grille instead. We had a reservation at 7:30pm. We waited at the bar until 8:00pm and I asked the manager at the host desk when we would be seated. He looked at me like I was a 5 year old pointed at the bar and said ""Go sit back at the bar and we will call you when you table is ready"". I was appalled, this was the general manager of the restuarant TALKING TO A CUSTOMER IN THIS MANNER. I kept my cool and just sat at the bar with my group and we waited. FInally about 8:45pm our table was ready and a bimbo Paris Hilton wannabe hostess seated us.\r \r Once we were seated, the waiter did not come over until about 9:15pm to take our drink order--30 minutes after we were seated. In the meantime, the waiters were just standing around talking amongst themselves completely ingoring our table and all of the other tables. The carpet had food crumbs all over and it looked like it had not been vaccumed in a week--dirty restuarant for a place that the management acts like it is the Four Seasons Restuarant. Finally we ordered our dinner and it took over an hour and a half for them to bring it to our table. Needless to say, the service was TERRIBLE (AND I DO MEAN AWEFUL). The food was just OK (luke warm) and the steak was pretty good, but this place is WAY OVERPRICED. I would never step foot into Del Frisco ever again. I love Capital Grille and that it where I will go next time.\r \r *****People do yourself a favor---DO NOT GO TO DEL FRISCOS---WORST RESTUARANT EVER*********** Pros: Steaks Cons: Service more

Better here alone then with someone special 9/15/2009

\r I need to get something off my chest...\r \r Del Frisco's in Philadelphia seems to want to sabotage themselves. Just like a women who dresses inappropriately to get attention might be insecure and sabotage the respect she wants at her job, a restaurant might have employees do the same thing if they are insecure about performance. I understand that there are many machismo steakhouses out there. \r I just thought they were above the rest.\r \r The food here is better than average, but not as refined as the architecture (which is stunning). I tried the steak. Although it was good, it's not the best I've had. Also, being a dessert aficionado, the lemon cake that my waiter recommended was a little too heavy and had too much lemon curd filling. It needed a fondant or buttercream frosting on the outside.\r \r Now we all know that money doesn't always guarantee class. Apparently the men they attract to their tables aren't the upright or intelligent kinds of citizens who'd remind them that they'd double or triple their business if women and families found this establishment appropriate for dining. As a cultured woman, who as many who come here, was taken in by the impressive re-use of architecture, I didn't expect to be distracted from anything unpleasant. I suddenly lost my appetite when an employee, wearing an EXTREMELY low-cut, black corset under her jacket, slowly bent over 90 degrees to brush off imaginary crumbs off a clean table (already set with silverware), directly in front of my date and I - showing about 90% of her chest. Her boss probably told her to do that, but he mistakenly forgot to tell her when to do it. Unfortunately things don't always go as planned.\r \r I used to work in restaurants. I could tell you that from a typical woman's perspective, I always wanted to be friendly and approachable, so I never went to work wearing anything revealing as it would have reduced my sense of dignity and comfort level with the customers. I am going out of my way to write this because I firmly believe that this kind of sexism is not being addressed enough in the world today. Interestingly, I don't find myself being the only one commenting about this issue at this particular restaurant. See "" 'good food, sexist atmosphere' by cty567, January 22, 2009,"" in the reviews on this page.\r \r It would be in Del Frisco's favor to say that I saw Mayor Michael Nutter dining a few tables down in August 2009 - but I'm afraid that this kind of buzz isn't enough for them. Having the mayor walk in, having nice architecture, and a cuisine that could easily be improved to perfection is all being taken for granted. \r \r Why can't the staff keep a neutral position in a dining experience? I'm not sure why a business would want to sabotage the respect they could have - when they have such a unique, beautiful space. Maybe they aren't ready for the respect that they ultimately want.\r \r Note: I was there during the week and not all of the hostesses were dressed like her. It was hard to tell if she is usually singled out for this role or perhaps the other girls dress like her on other nights.\r Pros: Refined Architecture, Above Average Food Cons: Inappropriate Uniform is a Buzzkill and Sexist more

We saw a very large rodent! 3/8/2009

We were looking forward to dining here, but never made it to the table after a VERY LARGE Rodent (the site won't allow me to write the word R@T!!) scampered by us while waiting to be seated. The staff did not seem shocked by this guy scurrying past, which scared us even more (seriously, he was the size of a cat!). The place never should have been opened with an infestation of this type...if one is bold enough to hang with the patrons during prime dinner hours...you can be sure there are many more in hiding! We enjoyed a Rodent free meal at Ruth's Chris instead! Cons: Rodents more

Del Frisco's is OVER! 3/4/2009

Overseasoned. Overcooked. Overpriced. more

VERY POOR! 2/27/2009

Showed up for a 6:00 reservation ten minutes early and proceeded to WAIT at the bar for 40 minutes. No one EVER apologized. The menu is VERY pricey and is not emblematic of the quality of the dining experience. The steak was ordinary at best. After an overpriced, overrated dinner, we were rushed back to the bar to open the table up for the next fool. Not worth it. Pros: a bar Cons: totally overpriced more

really BAD! 2/27/2009

COMPLETELY OVERPRICED and LOUD! We waited to sit and the server was completely rude. One of our guests food was undercooked and my salad had a hair in it. Pros: great looking bar Cons: completely overpriced and over-rated food more

Cavernous Steak House 2/8/2009

I visited Del Frisco during Restaurant Week. Upon entering, you could see that the decor was grand but maybe too much so. It seemed cavernous but the tables were set very nicely. The food was good but not great. The filet was definitely the best I have tasted. Pros: Good Service, Cons: Not intimate, High Price Points more

experience at del frisco 2/1/2009

gorgeous space, maybe the most impressive restaurant in terms of ambiance. Food was expensive but worth it. I might add you would not eat here very often if you are picking up the tab. the negatives would be the service very green and not up to the level it needs to be for a Del Frisco. The other gripe: the wine list-although impressive in selections, the price points are ridiculous. I ask myself who buys this stuff the markups on the good bottles(which typically are the best buys on a good list) was well beyond your typical 2-3 times cost. I cannot see anyone paying 500.00 for a 100.00 cali cab, scanning the tables, no one was. This is a zinfandel restaurant, joel Gott @58.00 is a good bet. Would go back in a year to see if the kinks are worked out Pros: ambience, food Cons: service, wine list more

Can't really review because I never got a chance to eat 1/24/2009

I never was able to eat dinner tonight for my 9pm reservation for my fiance's birthday. By 10:15, it was clear that we would still not be seated, over an hour past our reservation. The staff clearly had no control over the front of the house. The host refused to make eye contact with me, and up to 6 hostesses at a time sat blank-faced, looking at the computer screen all evening, while many customers sat waiting to be seated. When it was 10pm, an hour past our reservation, a man walked by us and warned that he had been seated for a 6:30pm reservation and was just leaving, so that we should probably leave, because we'd never get out, and that the table service was just as bad as the host service. It's a shame that such a beautiful restaurant could be so poorly managed. Some recognition of their incompetance could have eased the situation. I will be glad to spread the word of how poorly we were treated, and how I was not able to celebrate my fiance's birthday this year because of the poor service we received. Word spreads fast in a small downtown area, especially in a bad economy flush with new steakhouses. Pros: ambiance Cons: poor service more

good food, sexist atmosphere 1/22/2009

I have to believe that the owners of this restaurant set out to attract the male business crowd, and succeeded. While the male wait-staff is dressed in trousers, long-sleeved shirts and vests, the females wear short, tight black dresses, often paired with fish-net stockings and high-heeled boots (and sorry, women, but it looked cheap not classy). The restaurant's clientele was 90% men. As a professional woman, I cried at the clock being turned back so far.\r \r If this appeals to you though, I'll admit that the steak was very good as were our gnocchi appetizers. Our waitress, attire notwithstanding, was very professional. And the room is incredible with its high ceiling and dramatic red curtains. Unfortunately, due to the ""uniforms,"" I will not return. Pros: good service Cons: overall, I would not go back because of the sexist ambience more

excellent service, atmosphere 1/15/2009

What a scene! Plan on arriving for your reservation at the exact time...you will still have time to go to the bar. Which is not a negative, just informative. The calamari is out of this world, steaks maybe the best quality in the city, salmon was perfectly cooked (so not what I expected for a steakhouse). The staff is highly trained, don't be afraid to ask questions! The only complaint is I feel a little overwhelmed by the staff at the front door when I first walk in. Keep up the great work Del Frisco's! Pros: ambience, food, service Cons: cost more
