i couldn't be more pleased - i went into dej not knowing what i wanted and let don take over. not only did my hair look incredible but he made me feel comfortable at the hands of his mercy! i used to drive to santa monica for my stylist, but now i will just make the quick jaunt over the hill from hollywood to sherman oaks :) Pros: welcomed, smoking patio more

I can't say enough good things about Angelo! He's a superb hair stylist and a master with color. I highly recommend Dej Salon... not only was the hair great, the overall experience was too! Enjoy! Pros: valet, coffee! more

DON THE KING????? NOTTTTTTT A CHANCE!!! 4/28/2006

- He was 25 minutes late for my first appointment...Gone out for errands. Didn't even apologize or call. I was there for 5 hours. - He gave me the worst possible hair cut....he didn't cut or style my hair. He just took his funny scissors, and took out 70% of my healthy beautiful hair starting from the roots.....My hair is so thin, frail and unhealthy looking now as if I've had a burn or haven't had a cut for 5 years. I have lost that bounce and the sharp movements I've always had. - Hi lights? The top is green, the bottom is red. Some of my strands start with greenish gold, and end with orange. The left and right side of my head are completely uneven and different. Also, when he heard that I was unhappy with my hair, didn't even bother to call me! I am from New York City and will only have my hair done by Frida Mekari. I happened upon Dej Salon a few years ago and was hooked after my first visit. Frida handles many celebrities but always finds time to make me look fabulous whenever I am in LA. I highly recommend her for cuts and color. After searching and experiencing horrors at the best salons from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood etc. I finally found Frida. Not only am I happy but my friends travel from Beverly Hills as well. I went into DEJ salon searching for the perfect hair stylist and finally can say I found her. Laurie Ann did my makeup and blow dry for a date that I had and I have to say I looked fabulous!! She listens to what you want say and shares her thoughts at the same time. Laurie is also a color specialist, which is very hard to find as you know. She continues to update her education which is a great asset. Call Laurie at the salon and you will not be disappointed!!!! more

Went to Don for the 1st time, recommended by a friend. had no clue what i wanted, just something different. he didn't waste any time, he knew exactly what he wanted to do with it, and it turned out Unbelievable! I got so many compliments that night when i went out, from my friends. don is amazing and a very charismatic, nice person. Lauren, his assistant, is exceptional as well. they make a phenominal team! more

Relaxing & Highlights 2/26/2006

Laurieann is the authority on hair relaxing w/ highlights. Perfectly timed & smooth, shiny results - WITH HIGHLIGHTS!!! I had all but given up on finding anyone who knew how to perfectly relax my hair. I am amazed that a relaxer could be this natural, smooth and non-dry. Never go anywhere else for relaxing. more

don is a fabulous stylist. i assisted him for a spell and opened my own salon. i owe him so much for teaching me that atmosphere and attitude along with skill sell a salon and make work a fun place to be. the relaxed friendly atmosphere along with the skill make this a find in the valley and beyond! thank you don! amy sue more

Damon is my favorite, when i went to get my hair done, with just a little explination, knew EXACTLY what i wanted done, and perfected the hair style of my choice! The salon is very hip, comfortable atmosphere, really great hairstylists (DAMON), and great service! more

Found My Hair Stylist 11/22/2005

Knowing me as a very picky customer, Don said to me at the end (of highlighting & cut): ""OK, play around with your hair and let me know if there's anything you don't like"". Guess what, I couldn't find anything wrong! I even spent lots of time in front of mirrors to ""inspect"" my hair during past 3 days, but just couldn't find any problem as I always had every time I went to a hair salon. Just like you're afraid to see a dentist, I was so afraid to see hair stylists because of the bad experiences. Not any more, I have Don now! He's very smart and delivered exactly what I wanted. Im having my hair down today & enjoying complements about my hair more

If you don't mind being treated as unimportant 7/8/2005

Usually I found myself waiting an hour or more, while my stylist socialized with the young hip set. It seemed more important for him to recapture whatever he missed out of in high school. A total wanna be, and at the cutomer's expense. Not professional in the least and insulting. My stylist's mind was on himself and how hip he could make himself. ""Oh, if only I could be the next Jonathan...."" is his mindset. This place is not good if you don't have the time to wait and don't care about being an after thought. I love DEJ 7/4/2005

I went to Dej last year, after a friend recommended it. Don did a cut and style with my hair, and it was great. everyone is so friendly and it has a great atmosphere. I have been to Don many times; sometimes I tell him what I want and other times I let him take control. Either way, I always leave happy! One thing I love... they never pushed products on me. I hate when that happens. If you want a great cut and style in the valley, this is the place to be! Pros: great cut, excellent style, don't push products more

I walked into Dej not knowing what to expect. I was recommended to Erica and I felt comfortable immediately. I explained to her that I was blonde as a child but had since darkened considerably. In Erica I found a colorist that definately knows her stuff. She was able to recreate the color I was looking for. And finally a stylist who understands the term ""just a trim"". Worst cut I've ever had 12/3/2004

I'm so disappointed that I chose this salon. The salon has a hip cool feel, but the stylist I had, Jennifer, did a terrible job on my cut. I didn't notice at first because the way she had styled it my ends were flipped under/out. The next time I go to wash my hair and straighten it, THE LEFT SIDE OF MY HAIR IS HALF AN INCH LONGER THAN THE RIGHT! How hard is it to cut hair evenly? Also, there were little pieces here and there that weren't cut evenly, like if I take a small chunk of my hair, there will be a few ""stragglers"" that should have been cut. Ugh. I'm just beyond disgusted. I could have had a better cut from Supercuts. Jennifer is a nice girl, but can't cut hair. Request someone else. Pros: stylist was on time more

I live in San Francisco and fly in to see Don at Dej for every haircut and highlight. I can't find another hair salon with the same energy, talent and comfort as Dej. I first sat in Don's chair 3 years ago and wasn't sure what I was looking for, he took charge of my hair and overall look, and his subtle charm and talent made me feel beautiful. i had an amazing experience with my extensions, cut and color. nuria knows exactly what she is doing and gave great advice. she made her self available for a consultation before the actual appointment too. i completely trusted her judgement and suggestions. the extensions look completely natural and she matched the color perfectly. i highly recommend any of her services to anyone at a loss for what to do with their hair. she is a hidden wonder and her prices are affordable for the attention and service that is received. i walked out a very happy girl!
