Service was adequate, at best (though there were only 4 tables occupied in the entire restaurant....Our party of two was the first seated, by about 20 minutes. Despite our reservation, could they have thought we were there for an Early Bird Special at 6:00PM and treated us accordingly???). Lots of staff standing around in small groups talking, not all that attentive to their assigned patrons. \r

Food was good, but the ""sumptuous"" and ""generous"" portions were anything but (neither of us are what you would call big eaters). My sea bass was a really skimpy portion, not fileted tableside (as menued or mentioned in a previous review), but in a far end of the the restaurant (the maitre d' was putting on a de-boning clinic for two other waiters).\r
\r
Pretty expensive restaurant ($160+, not counting tip, for one appetizer, 2 entrees, 3 glasses of vin ordnaire, and two petite-sized desserts). Better-than-average tip did not improve the house attitude.\r
\r
Little gratitude or humanity demonstrated by the staff, particulalry the maitre d' who did not say ""thanks"" or even respond to our goodbye on our way out the door (one of the other waiters, not ours, did have the courtesy to say ""good night!"").\r
\r
In summary, I wouldn't return...despite the restaurant's reputation, there are too many better restaurants in NYC. Skip it!\r
