WORSE SERVICE EVER, the waiter so mean and discriminate, so unfair 3/11/2008

I went there yesterday to have dinner with my parents. the waiter was impolite. Gave us a hard time when we ask about what kind of fish should we choose for fried with ginger and scallian. He ignored us and turn his head and said ""then you're not ready order the food!"" with the attitude. Pros: good food Cons: terrible service , waiter with attitude gave you a hard time more

My husband is the Chinese food fanatic (could eat it every night), so he despairs of finding a place I like so he can have food and my company at the same time...and this is one of those places. Great hot & sour soup, General Tso's chicken, and sweet & sour pork. Good dumplings with a different sauce, sort of a pickled ginger. Bland veggie fried rice (no egg) and egg rolls are just okay. But, with the right choices, great food, lots of tea, and not greasy. more

Disappointed 7/1/2003

I often stop here for take out because my office-mates rave about their dumpling noodle soup (not bad if you like dumplings); I prefer the hot and sour. Recently, I wanted to bring some Chinese home for dinner, so tried a couple items off the menu. The waiter was not helpful when I inquired about ingredients, rushing me to choose. I ended up with chicken and shrimp with cashews, which turned out to be about half celery and water chestnuts (quite crunchy). Celery doesnt have much flavor. Neither do water chestnuts. And cashews? Still couldnt tell you. I also came home with the mixed vegetables. Just fine. They served to counter-balance the crunchy issue of the previous dish. Pros: soups, inexpensive Cons: unhelpful service, indifferent, bland more

Great food and never noisy. 1/14/2003

Mai Lai Wah has comfortingly familiar and tasty Chinese food, and an authentic atmosphere. Nearly everything on the menu is delicious, especially the Singapore Noodles. Also be sure to try the Spicy Beef and Turnip Soup - even if you're not a big turnip fan, this soup may convert you. Open late at night, and never crowded and noisy, this restaurant is a great place whenever you're in the mood for Chinese food. I can't stand most greasy Chinese takeout, but Mai Lai Wah is one of my favorite Chinatown restaurants! more
