I am from Los Angeles and have been extremely unsuccessful in finding a hair salon out here that knows how to work with blondes (I have dropped hundreds of dollars at overpriced salons in this city and have been completely unsatisfied... so much in fact that it was cheaper and easier for me to just book a ticket back to LA every 2-3 months to get my highlights done than gamble with some horrible colorist that charges outrageous prices). I had ""David"" cut my hair for many times. The first time was fine, but since then it's getting worse and worse. I just had my hair done last week and it is unbelivably horrible. There is no taste, and actually ugly. I can not down my hair, because there are no visible layers and I can not ponytail my hair because he cut in a very wierd way. The real problems were he did not care about his client and he was very rude all the time. He did not ask what I wanted before he started, nor he asked if I liked it after he finished. He almost stared me to threaten not to say anaything! Every time I went there I tipped him over 30 + cut ($110), just because to make him cut my hair at his best - it was totally worthless. Last time I went there with my friend, she said she never saw any stylist that rude before. Now I am done with him, it was totally NOT WORTH MY TIME and MONEY. I do not know about other hairstylists, so I would not say this place is bad in general but certainly ""David"" is not the one you want to pay for 110 + tip. Yes, I've been getting my hair cut/colored at Cutler for about 3 years now and I've always been so happy with the results. Recently, I went to Christie for color and Dina for cut, and I was stopped on the street TWICE by TWO differernt people asking me where I got my hair done at! I guess the proof is in the puddin'! I followed Joseph over to Cutler from Bumble and Bumble because he gives me that perfect rich, youthful brown so I can watch Gossip Girl and know that Blaire and are destined to be friends. He is so easy going and nice, but dont that fool you because he knows his stuff. He's also done japanese hair straightening for me and CHANGED MY LIFE. My hair is totally straight and shiny and perfect due to him. Get off the internet and make an app't! Pros: Joseph! I followed Joe/Joseph Mullen from Bumble here (like a lot of the previous posters)- and I am following him right to Blackstones. Thank heavens Blackstones has a great stylist who gave me a great cut to go with my fabulous color- and in an adorable salon on Astor place. Cutler's salons are so ugly I wanted to go in blindfolded. They have no idea how to cut hair, or how to treat clients. Run. Cons: low talent, terrible decor- avoid more

I have been through so many expensive salons and am very picky about my hair. I finally went to Adrienne and she is hands down the best colorist i've ever had. Her blonde highlights are perfection and she really listens to you and goes for that beautiful gorgeous model look. I haven't gotten my cut done here but from what i saw everyone was walking out looking perfect. Pros: color Cons: nothing more

I've never written a review before but I thought it was appropriate since I chose this salon based on the reviews here on citysearch with no other recommendation. I wanted a change and was really open to what exactly I wanted. I had been thinking of going darker and cutting it short but wasn't set on it and with some advice from Ryan (color) and Clyde (cut) and their confirmations that they thought it would look great I went for it. Mind you I went in there with long hair - light brown with blonde highlights and came out with a chic brunette cut with lots of layers coming just above my shoulders and it looks fantastic! Ryan and Clyde were both so nice and helpful and really made me feel confident about my choice - it was such a great experience! This was the first time I'd been to a new stylist/colorist in 7 years and I was not dissapointed. I've found a new duo and I will most definitely be sticking with them. If you're a mom, who works and doesn't have an hour to prep your hair, but want to LOOK like you do- you have to see MILA! She did my color in 40 mins- covered my gray- made me feel like a woman again. It was about time I did something with my grays but I didn't think I had the time, but Mila was so sweet and honest, the process was quick and painless. Thanks for bringing me back to reality, Mila! I have never written a review before, but feel compelled because I want others to know that they can stop searching for someone to make their hair look fabulous! My hair is very curly, and can look dry if the color is not done properly - I have been all over the city hoping to find someone I could keep going to for my highlights and finally found the answer at Cutler! I have been going to Rachel now for over a year and I am thrilled with the results, she just does an amazing job each and every time. She listens to what you're looking and gives suggestions if needed, and the finished product is always just what you hoped it would be if not better! Hands down the best colorist in NYC---RYAN FIINCH. I have spent many years trying to find the right colorist for my hair. I do from time to time like to mix it up and try different variations of blondes. He is very professional and makes you feel comfortable. He takes his time and doesnt rush to get you out the door like most colorist/stylist do. He listens and give suggestions while keeping your color current and right for your skin tone. If you are out there trying to find a new colorist that will make you feel welcomed and not bore you then try RYAN FINCH at Cutler. I promise you will be so happy you wen to him!! A friend of mine in entertainment recommended Gabriel to me while i was in town from Miami last year. Hands down the most beautiful transformations from brunette, to honey blonde and back again: I'm a bit of a chameleon. Anyway, I'm in town fairly regularly for business and Gabriel is always one of my first appointments! Give him a try - he's a magician. And as an added bonus: He's VERY easy on the eyes! more

A friend of mine who is an Editor at a magazine told me about Ryan at Cutler. I usually take her advice because it's her job to know who to go to for what. She said he gave her the most amazing highlights she's ever had and she won't go to anyone else. I rushed to make an appointment (luckily I got one) and I was totally blown away. Not only did I FINALLY get the color I've been after for YEARS...he has the sweetest most professional way about him that I enjoyed the whole experience. Since my first appointment I have been back 3 times and each time he consistently gives me the color I want. Now instead of dreading my visit to the salon I LOVE IT!!!! more

Gabriel gave me the most amazing mahogany highlights. I always get caramel highlights but this time i decided to try something different for the fall. The highlights were subtly placed and they perfectly framed my face. He completely covered my regrowth and added a lot of dimension with the new highlights. I also got a fabulous cut from Clyde that grew out wonderfly. I wanted something modern but not too Lower East Side, it was perfect. Cutler has a great vibe. Pros: Great Colorists and stylists more

Ryan Finch at cutler soho does the best blonde highlights in manhattan. I would totally recommend him to anyone. He will tell you exactly what he feels should be done and when he is done, you will be very excited with the results. more

This man knows color. He listens to what you would like and delivers. If you have no idea what to do with your hair, definitely ask. He has a wonderful eye for what will work best. I'm glad I finally found someone who is not only talented, but consistent. more

I have been going to Cutler for over three years, and LOVE what they do with my hair! I definitely have my favorites (Tonino is a genius with extensions and cuts, Laura is fantastic with blondes) but can enthusiastically recommend pretty much anyone in the salon. From the lady who checks the coats, to Rodney Cutler himself, everyone is always friendly and very professional; they listen to what you want and give qualified suggestions.
