A strand of hair on our food! 2/10/2008

First trip to this crepery which serves other items on the menu besides crepe. The Eggs Benedict was very good, came with unseasoned cottage fries (chunks of potatoes). The Cole Valley crepe came as a large crepe folded over into a quarter filled w/cheese, tomato pesto sauce, ample avocado, mushrooms & spinach & the cottage potatoes. Overall, the food was ok, but we probably wouldn't be going back. At the end of the meal, a strand of long blond hair was hanging from the potatoes (we're brunette, as was the server who brought the food to our table), thus spoiling our appetites. The latte was wonderful. It's evidently a popular place in the Cole Valley neighborhood for couples, didn't see any kids. We didn't complain about the hair to management. Seriously, what would they do about it anyways? All you can do is pray you don't get sick. They're cash only. Pros: Large area for dining, good Eggs Benedict Cons: Parking, cash only, hair in our food more

Sometimes a good value, oftentimes horrible 8/5/2006

I live nearby, and have been several times before I finally gave up on it. A couple times the food was tasty and not very expensive, and the service was fine and prompt. The last few times I went the food was poor: one time the crepe I ordered was massively overcooked, the other time the eggs I ordered were undercooked and inedible. \r \r The last straw was when I went and they totally botched our order. We were in a group of four, two got their orders immediately, the other two of us (who ordered similar items) didn't. We complained, the waitress glanced back into the kitchen and said ours would be right up. Ten minutes later there was still no sign, the waitress again claimed it would be right up. We asked to speak to the owner, who finally admitted that the order had never made it into the kitchen, and we had been blatantly lied to. He then made us wait another five minutes before he deigned to give us a refund, and refused to give a refund on the coffee that we had barely touched while waiting for the nonexistent food. Finally he made a big scene about how it wasn't his fault and tried to make us feel guilty for complaining.\r \r Any of the other restaurants in the area is a better choice. We had previously used this as a backup spot for brunch if Zazie was too busy, but never will again. Pros: sometimes good food for the cost Cons: aggressively unpleasant servers and owner, generally shoddy cooking more

Great food, bad service once 3/27/2006

This place has fantastic food and is really great for brunch, breakfast, or lunch. Almost every time I have had great food, nice service, and a friendly staff. The last time I went was a different story though. This past sunday the two waitresses were incredibly rude. My girlfriend's mom's order was incorrect and they spent a couple minutes arguing about it with her. That's just not good customer service. Overall though the place is great, I'll be going back many times. Pros: great food, fun atmosphere Cons: hard to park, impatient waitresses more

best breakfast for your buck 8/7/2005

Love the place, love the crepes. Hearty big servings, and the food tastes great. Love the salads and the owner is the best! he is very friendly and I see him working there always at the register chatting with people. Pros: big portions more

I've had better 6/21/2003

i agree with another post saying that crepes are better in france--or hell, even the crepevine. this place has homefries that have yucky seasonings. the dessert crepes suck. i've been here at least 5 times, and it is always about the same. it's not an expensive place, yet it feels overpriced because of the food quality. Pros: cozy Cons: so-so food, dirty more

Not Your Average Crepes 3/11/2003

Everytime I make a trip back to San Francisco, I make sure to eat at this place at least twice. The service isn't the best- you place your order, sit, and wait for your food to be brought to you (if you're lucky), or wait until your name is called. The food is GREAT! These aren't crepes like you'd get at some foofy, Frenchy place. These are good, full-meal-type crepes. They're a bit on the greasy side (so are the home fries), but if you're a diner-lover, these will go over well with you. I recommend the ham & cheese crepes, but they have excellent vegetarian crepes, too. Pros: you won't feel rushed, good brunch spot Cons: crowded at breakfast, limited seating more

worst crepes in sf possibly the world 9/2/2002

I work in cole valley and have tried this resturant at least three times each has been worst than the last. To start the awning is covered in bird crap which is perfect because this resturant is crap. They have the worst crepes in the city and anyone who has ever been to france would laugh at them. They pair the lunch crepes with fatty home fries and even the salads were terrible. It is in a great location and the setup is very nice but the food and service is terrible. for real crepes go to crepes express more
