The worst shimp po-boy ever 7/13/2009

Although the shrimp were pentiful, they were under cooked and soggy. The french bread, should not even be called french bread, again soggy and fell apart. I'm a native New Orleanean and know good po-boys, this was by far the worst shrimp po-boy I've ever gotten. Won't be back. Cons: Soggy bread and undercooked shrimp more

Great Fried Seafood Plater 6/15/2009

I go to Oschners Medical foundation every 60 days or so, We stay at the Hotel St. Marie in the Quarted and Crabby Jacks on the route to Oscners. First time we stoped and ate the seafood plater we knew we had found one of the local jewels. Their platter is far better than any of the food in the French Quarter and less than half price. We eat there every time we go down now. The platter also is very LARGE, with generous portions of all the seafood they serve Pros: Food, Price, and Service Cons: Location more

Smoky, Atrocious, Cattle Call 4/18/2009

Thought I'd try this place, so I stopped by and picked up a hot sausage po-boy, an order of fries and some onion rings. The ordering process went well. The service was fine. Although, the place was SO smoky. I left there smelling like grease. The whole place is a major cluster. Junk everywhere. Fountain drink machine was"" out of order"". There was a regular menu board and another hand written dry erase board with specials. Then they had another little station where they do tossed salads - which was kind of random for a po-boy joint. The salad station also had a menu board that was kind of confusing with lots of things crossed out. The kitchen was horrendous. The french bread was soft and chewy; not crispy like a real po-boy should be. I know. I'm from New Orleans. They put thinly shredded romaine lettuce on their sandwiches??? What the heck is that all about? And they only put like a few shreds. They also use sliced roma tomatoes (or very small tomato slices???) The hot sausage patties were undercooked and mushy. The shredded cheese was the pre-packaged kind that doesn't really melt well. The fries were absolutely awful. They were tasteless, majorly undercooked and soggy. The onion rings (frozen). Most of their products are the ""Sysco Special"". Won't be back and won't recommend. There are way too many other better places around town. Sorry to be so crabby! Oh, and get a web-site for crying out loud! Cons: Smoky Inside, Dirty, Disorganized, Food Quality more

Worth a visit 3/2/2009

The gulf fish platter was very tasty and great prices. But the salad bar had alreay been closed by 2pm and they were also out of sweet ice tea. The place is also only open till 4pm more

Wonderful po boys! 10/19/2007

We decided to try this place for lunch and arrived right at noon which is peak time. The line was out the door, but moved reasonably quickly. You could really tell the staff was working as quickly as possible to make their customers happy, which was a pleasant change from other NOLA restaurants lately. Every free second they had they were cleaning tables, tidying, and bussing meals to the customers. I was so impressed with their work ethic and hospitality. Sounds so simple, but lately our dining experiences in New Orleans have been met with arrogant waitstaff who think they're too good for their jobs. Pros: Delicious po boys, friendly service Cons: Limited seating more

Best fried seafood po-boys in new orleans 11/19/2006

I'm a local and submit that Crabby Jack's has the best fried shrimp and/or fried oyster po-boys in the city...i've been working my way through the menu and there ain't a flaw yet....duck po boy is excellent....fish tacos are amazing....their onion rings are wonderful....you can't go wrong, impossible, it is heaven Pros: best po-boy in town, value, incredibleness Cons: gravel parking lot, limited seating, limited hours more

Nice casual place 4/15/2005

Though it has only one front room, with limited space, Crabbys makes the best of it. The Po boys are way above average, and the Shrimp Mirliton with Seafood Sauce is very good..... infact borderline excellant. And the staff is very courteous, as well. I went around 11:15am on a Saturday, so there wasn't much of a wait. The best way to describe Crabby Jacks is, ""It's Naturally New Orleans."" Pros: great food, quick service, friendly staff more

Best Po Boys in NOLA 9/21/2004

Hands down, the best po boys in NOLA. Get it dressed and sized large if you are hungry. Add a bag of chips and a Barqs and you are set. Their lunch meals are also top notch and substantial and better than most places that charge 4 times as much for the same thing. This is probably the best deal value wise in the entire city. The only catch is they are lunch only. Pros: Po Boys, Food, Value more
